great kit, great company.

a very high quality hydrometer. all glass, which is so much better and easier to read than the other ones that come with a plastic test tube. the company is great, too. when i contacted them about a minor problem which turned out to be a product defect, they mailed me a new one right away with a HANDWRITTEN note! wow. so impressed how they treat their customers. definitely worth paying a little extra for quality.

Just in time for some holiday spirit's'.

I bought this for my husband and he was chomping at the bit to brew a chocolate porter. He brewed his first batch the next day after it arrived and was raving at how much better this was than his other 4 that he had gone through. More durable glass, easy to read and everything was extremely well packed. The brush is super convenient as I usually get to clean his messes. Also he mentioned that the conversion card was really nice and it's now under a magnet on the keg'o'rator. I'm glad I stepped up and got the more expensive one. Now the holidays are going to be a little higher calorie content and quite a bit merrier! You certainly get what you pay for!

Absolute Essentials!

I like how this kit comes with everything you need to test your starting and finishing gravities. Not to mention the fact that the test tube is the correct diameter and the quality is on par! Get this along with their alcholometer for the best set of tools to brew.

Why did I wait so long to buy a new QUALITY hydrometer?

Perfect hydrometer for brewing beer, along with glass tube for measuring. Would definitely by again, though I hope I don't have to! Seriously, this thing appears to be dead on accurate!. AND if you put the hydrometer in the plastic tube it comes in, and put THAT inside the glass cylinder, there's still enough room in the box with foam for your own glass thermometer to sit in with the bottle brush they give you with the set!

Wish I could give 6 stars! Company stands behind their product

UPDATE 2: the replacement which I 100% did not expect arrived today WITH A HAND WRITTEN LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER apologizing for their (very minor) mistake. The new hydrometer read exactly 1.000 with distilled water at 60 F. Couldn't ask for better. This product is a no brainer for the $35 it costs. Either it will be within tolerance or they will give you another one that will. UPDATE: the vendor almost immediately reached out to me and offered to send a replacement due to mine being very slightly out of tolerance. Glad to see they so confidently stand behind their product. If yours happens to be a little out of calibration I have little doubt they will make it right. Thanks again. ORIGINAL: Distilled water and tap water read 0.997 g/cc. Close and useful if you know how far off yours is, but be mindful that it is not perfect. Not bad for the cost

Quality piece-

a little more expensive- worth the extra for me. I feel you often get what you pay for. If you are doing something that requires specific values and repeatability, do yourself a favor and get a quality tool for your project, whatever it is!

Accuracy with water is perfect in mine. The scale is easier to read than any others I've owned.

Fantastic Customer Service

First off I received the ABV Hydrometer with the Test Tube Jar. Very happy with the ease of use. Large numbers and easy to read, nice colors. Well after just several uses I noticed some small bubbles coming from the test tube when I inserted it in some 110deg wort. Upon inspection I noticed a very small crack in the bulb of the unit. Now I know that these are fragile and have always been careful when using it. So I contacted Brewing America, I explained to them my problem and they shipped one to me right away. Can't beat that with a stick. Would definitely buy from them again.

Great hydrometer set for homebrewers!

Great quality and product. The glass jar has held up well (figured I would break it quickly). The jar is also a little smaller which means my sample sizes are smaller. The hydrometer is equally great quality and is accurate (compared with two other hydrometers). The brush has been used for MANY things. Can't say enough about the value of this product. Well worth the associated cost.
