I bought this stand to go under my patio table. The umbrella pole passes through the hole in the center of the table and into this stand, which is located on the patio floor beneath the table. It works just fine. There are some plastic adapter inserts that come with the stand. These allow you to size the neck of the stand and obtain the proper fit for whatever diameter umbrella pole you might have, These, too, work just fine, One caution when reading this review: Be aware that I have NOT used this as a free-standing umbrella stand out by our pool. In our application, the umbrella is supported by both the stand AND by the table above the stand. I cannot make any recommendation as to the performance of this stand being used as a free-standing umbrella support. I have no idea how well it would work on its own. (Here in Florida we get a thunderstorm most afternoons, and it can get quite windy. I am hesitant to use ANY free-standing umbrella stand. It would be all too easy for me to be caught away from home when a thunderstorm, accompanied by high winds decided to descend on my back yard. And as Murphy's Law states, I would have left the umbrella open in such a situation, inviting it to fly to the Land of Oz.) For my purposes and the way I use this, however, it is just perfect.

Exactly right for a good price. Easy to assemble. We have it set up with an umbrella through a fairly heavy table and it all held well during a strong summer storm. As a stand alone with umbrella, it would probably tip. Be sure to close your umbrella when not in use. No base can prevent umbrella damage when the wind catches it!

I was looking for a small fairly lightweight base to work in conjunction with our outdoor table which has a hole in the center for an umbrella. I own several 9' umbrellas and already own several 60lbs bases, but those were large and heavy, plus I was concerned that guests may inadvertently hit the base with the wood chairs when scooting them in and scratch up the legs. I move the table sometimes, so there is a big hassle trying to center those heavy stands so that they line up with the hole in my table. Since the table already supports the umbrella for the most part, this stand was to help stabilize the umbrella and give it some footing. Comes with centric spacers so that it can accommodate various diameter poles. I found one that fit mine. This worked out great for me. They did a really good job of making it look like an aged bronze base. I think that it's a great value. There is no way I would use this base alone with the 9' umbrellas, but I think it's perfect with a table. But again, I already own 60lbs bases for situations where I want to use my umbrellas alone. With the table this is perfect.

Bought this to hold a 9-foot California Pacifica umbrella with a brass-metal pole. The finish is nice and matches well--seems to be holding up fine in my South Florida weather. With the umbrella threaded through the hole in the middle of a 4-seater outdoor table (which also matches the finish) and this base underneath, it's straight and solid. The base comes with several adapter pieces so that you can accommodate different sized umbrella poles. Then you tighten the bolt to keep it more secure. It's not so tight that I can't rotate the umbrella, but that's good for me because my umbrella tilts and I need to orient it correctly. I suppose when you buy an umbrella base, your big concerns are whether it looks nice and doesn't let your umbrella fall over or fly away. I have no worries about that, and the umbrella has already been through a few decent windstorms. However, I do tend to close the umbrella in heavy winds and it's also held in place by the hole in the table. I've never tried it without a table.

I liked this so much I ordered a second! I live in Phoenix and our monsoon storms are pretty hard on umbrellas. I wanted a very heavy stand that would not allow the umbrella to tip over when I have the umbrella closed. So far the stands have held up well. The stands are rather large so they take up a good portion of my patio, but I just work around them. Note: the stands are ~47 lbs so I needed help moving them and tipping them to secure the umbrella. Others may not need it.

Good 45# base, easy to assembly. (Note, the plastic ring is stuck to the large Styrofoam packaging and is easy to miss.) I used as a free standing base on an umbrella that said it required a 65# base, Works kind of okay but will add an additional sand weight ring. If used with a table it would be more than sufficient.

Completely underestimated the size of this base. It is huge and heavy. My chairs do no go under the table as completely as they used to, but it still looks great. The design of this base is attractive, but measure first. You might not need the 24 inch for a standard umbrella. I am certain the "perfect storm" will not budge this! Great quality!

Not sure why I didn’t buy a sturdy, heavy base like this years ago. Not only does it look great and it’s almost 30 lbs to help keep the umbrella in place, but I now see how the tall tube does a great job of keeping the umbrella level. Prior to this I used plastic ones that had a much shorter stem, plus they’d leak water of sand eventually, and my umbrella was always flopping around. No more!

We bought two because of the reviews, but after we got them, we loved how easy they were to use, and how reliable they were in holding up our umbrellas even in a storm. Yes the umbrellas were down, and they didn't tip over where other ones had. I was so pleased with this product I ordered two more for the other side of our pool. I have 11 foot umbrellas and they hold them up when fully open and keep holding them in place even when down and in a storm.

I had read a lot of the negative reviews for this product. Overall I am not sure if people thought an 18" base weighing a mere 22 pounds was supposed to hold a patio umbrella all by itself. Otherwise why would anyone give it a negative review for "tipping over" this goes under my patio table and it does a great job of supporting the umbrella.
