At first I was skeptical because my dogs are really obsessive about the orange chuckit balls and never thought we would find a better ball, but after using these balls I have to say I'm very pleased. One of our labs, Sheba, has suffered from seizures and has become partially blind. Sometimes it's difficult for her to find a ball when we throw it a long ways. (We have a fenced in acre which is essentially our dog park.) These balls really do help her to track it because they whistle when flying in the air. It's not very loud to me, but my dogs can defiantly follow the sound. These balls are harder and lighter than the orange balls and bounce better, too. When throwing the orange balls, Sheba would bring back only about 50% of the time and our other lab would go find the ball for her and bring it back. But with these she brought the ball back 100% of the time! So I have to give a big kudos to Chuckit for making ball time more fun for Sheba and thanks from our family!

I waited TWO MONTHS before writing this review, and these two Chuckit Balls are still going strong when no other toy, ball, chewy or teether has lasted more than one week at the very most! Our dog is obsessed with toy balls, and she chews them, tosses them, fetches them, bounces them and loves to finally destroy them, but these are the most remarkable things we have found in 2 1/2 years. If anyone had told us two months ago that these balls would last this long, we wouldn't have believed them, but they are still going strong with no signs of wear and tear! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! UPDATE: I has now been SEVEN MONTHS and the balls are in perfect shape even though our 45 lb., ball-obsessed Boxer chews on them every day (all day if we let her, but I worry about what that would do to her jaw!). We are shocked and amazed at the quality of these Chuckit Balls and still highly recommend them!

Love these but wish both balls were bright colors. The light blue gets lost too easily. Make the other red or orange please??? Chuck-it makes the best balls for retrievers. They are very durable. Far better than tennis balls. Good value as these last for years not days or weeks. The whistle balls are great for dogs who retrieve by sight AND sound. The whistling gives them better feedback in case they miss seeing the ball launch. The only down side is that they holes which allow for the whistling also allow bigger dogs to get a tooth in to the ball and can start a tear. But, even with that, they still outlast other balls. We have yet to need to replace one because it wore out or was torn up.

Bought in a combo pack with the throwing thing (a must have for fetch-addicted dogs), and have bought two more since. My dog is the kind that shreds regular tennis balls in literally (seriously) 30 seconds flat. He has a strong jaw and knows just where to chomp and splits them in half and then proceeds to shred the fuzzy green and he brown inside. Anyway, I bought these knowing he would probably shred them in a day or so but didn’t care because they’re cheap. It’s been months and not only have they withstood hours of fetch, they’ve held up to hours of chew sessions from him! He will take them post-fetch and lay on the ground and take them to chomp-town; I have no clue what these are made of but he can’t seem to even scratch them. Thoroughly impressed, only reason I need to buy more is because we take them to the park/play dates and lose or leave them. I wonder if they float?? Can’t wait to try them during the summer

My dog is a CHEWER, so I waited about a month to review these. After the first day I was shocked that the one I gave her was still around. She chews on them regularly which is AMAZING because she usually kills a toy in 10 minutes. The whistling is a cool effect and catches the dogs interest, while the color makes them easy to find if your throw goes awry. The only down side I could see is if your dog really wants to destroy it they could probably hook a tooth in the hole and rip it from there but I have yet to see that with my dog and she chews them quite a bit

We've bough several packs of these Chuck It balls over the last few years. Our dog absolutely loves them, both for chucking and just for carrying around. The whistle helps because he has a hard time seeing where a chucked ball goes. The fact that they're hollow with holes in them means that they will get slobber inside them, but oh well. We have the non-whistling Chuck It balls as well, but he loves these ones. The material also somehow seems more durable than the non-whistling ones. Our smaller dogs likes to rip other balls apart, but she can't put a dent in these. Besides a Kong, these are the only toys that I allow my dogs to have in their crate unattended because I know they won't be able to eat pieces. Strangely, my dog really prefers JUST the orange ball in the pack. The blue one often gets ignored, despite them being otherwise identical.

We've had a hard time finding toys for my Russell Terrier/Toy Fox Terrier mix. She can tear almost anything up in a few minutes. She can even tear up Kong toys after being left with them. After having to have emergency surgery to remove an obstruction, we don't want to take any chances. Her dam and sister's owner has his own problems dealing with destructive chewing and the Russell urge to fetch, and he suggested to us the non-tennis ball-type Chuckit! ball line. I was a little concerned about other reviews stating their dogs had hooked a tooth in the holes of the Whistler types, so we started with the Ultra, which was also useful since we have a pond we can't keep her out of. That was very successful, so we decided to try the 2-holed Whistlers. I'm happy to say that, several years later, she has never managed to tear up one of these balls, They barely even have tooth hole dents in them. We take a ball and a pocket thrower nearly everywhere we go and have spare balls at family and friends' houses. We usually even leave her a comfort ball when we leave the house, which I never thought I'd do. I've only ever seen one of these balls in pieces, and that was because one was left in the yard and a lawn mower ran over it. I don't generally use the green ones outside because *I* can't see them in the grass. I use the blue ones in the woods and the orange ones in the field. The green ones pretty much stay indoors as house balls. We like to use the Erratic balls inside, as well, because they work best on a hard surface and are, of course, green. Bottom line: these balls are great for destructive chewers who also fetch and occasionally like to keep the ball. A great relief to pet parents who have been through the terror, stress, and expense of surgery to remove an obstruction! I've attached a picture of my dog with her very favorite thing in the world, begging me to throw it one more time.

I bought these as I saw a fellow dog lover at the dog park with one and the corresponding throwing arm. Please note that there are multiple ball sizes in the Chuckit line, and if you want a corresponding throwing arm to get the matching size. Knowing I had a medium sized arm back home I instantly purchased these while still at the park. Like most dogs, my German Shorthaired Pointer loves balls in general and loves to play fetch. The fact that these whistle as well keeps them further engaged in playing with it. While not being thrown the dog loves to walk around with it in her mouth, and it is going strong and hasn't been destroyed yet after a few months. The same unfortunately cannot be said for the tennis balls it replaced. I did lose one the other day, when I was playing with the dog on the beach of Lake Michigan and threw the ball too far so by the time the dog got there it had sunk. It will float for a short period of time, but will sink quick quickly as well.

**Update: It's been a couple months since using these and I have to say they have more than impressed me. We still have both whistling balls though we go through days where one is lost and then found several days to a week later, and my dogs still chew them and abuse them. Will definitely be buying more.** These are really great! I cannot recommend the regular furry chuck-it balls, as those just give out quickly, but my dogs haven't been able to pop these at all, and they have even chewed on them like bubble gum! For reference, I have a 104lb Giant Schnauzer/Rottie who is a ball hog; a 90lb Doberman/German Shepherd who loves to chew on the ball, and a 60lb 5 month old Akita/German Shepherd who chews everything. None of them have been able to destroy these whistle balls. We lost the blue one fairly quickly, and I wish I could just pick orange ones, but no biggie. These work great in our classic style chuck-it launchers, and I can also get them to whistle with normal throwing. Not sure how other reviewers don't get them to whistle when they throw them normally. (And I'm not a professional ball player, either! Just a normal 5ft tall woman with not too great a throwing arm - hence the need for a Chuck-it!) These add fun to our ball routine, and the doberman shepherd loves to listen for it.
