We have many large trees on our residential lot. Consequentially, we get a lot of black mildew on the clapboards/side of house. I had been using a pump sprayer to apply chlorline/water mix. I needed to use a long extension ladder to reach the top of the house, since the pump sprayer did not project very far. It was very cumbersome to use and repump up on the ladder and my balance isn't what it once was. I was looking for a sprayer I could run from the ground. This Chapin works very, very well for that purpose. It works best on your back, even when standing on the ground. It's just easier to manipulate the pump lever. Ihad to pump often because I needed to reach the 2nd story eaves. I would spray, let it sit for 5 minutes, grab the nearby hose and wash it off. The mildew poured off the side. No scrubbing necessary. When I was done (house is beige in color) it looked like the house had just been painted. I was ticked pink. To do a typical two story home took me about 5-6 tank refills (I was very meticulous). It was a pain to put the tank on my back, being small and older, but I didn't relish the idea of refilling it more often. Perhaps in time, I'll set it in a wagon and roll it around the house. Pros: fair compromise over a $25 home depot sprayer. Very simple to assemble, use, clean and store. Cons: If you are not strong, you may find it hard to put on your back. I'd reccommend this. Don't dis this if it's not the right application for you. It has it's limits and don't expect it to be something it's not. It's not a power washer.

The backpack worked great. It provided a stream of bleach that was about 25 feet. The unit is nicely made and the instructions were accurate. It pumps up easily. The only problem I have with it is the harness. The straps are very, very uncomfortable and really do not hold the backpack in place during the pumping process. The backpack slides down my back and tilts to the side during pumping. Since I used it to clean the front of my house, I simply put it on a ladder and used it from there rather than putting on my back. The unit did exactly what I wanted so I was happy. Redesigned straps would be a big plus and would be needed if you had to carry this on your back for any amount of time. Based on the construction and the parts available, I am expecting this unit to last for many years. Also, it arrived intact and on time.

I had never used a pump pressure sprayer before so I called Chapin Customer Service and they were helpful. I needed a sprayer to apply deer repellant to my scrubs and flowers. I apply the repellant weekly so I needed one that would not clog and with good sustained pressure. This little sprayer was a great choice. It was a snap to assemble and use. I couldn’t be more satisfied. I can’t speak to its durability yet but so far, it’s perfect! Light weight. Translucent so easy to see fluid level. Great pressure. Adjustable nozzle Quality construction and materials. Love it!

This is a really great sprayer! I purchased this to spray a bleach solution on my eaves that were covered in mildew. I had never done this before, am only 5ft tall and the spray not only reached to my second story eave without a ladder, but it took only 2 hours to complete the job. I may go back over a couple spots, but I am VERY happy with this product. It is on the heavy side even empty but you don't have to fill it completely...which is what I did. It's more trips to the spigot but I was able to clean my house for way less than I could have hired someone. I would recommend goggles.

Wonderful for spraying bleach. I usually use a regular sprayer for bleach and they don't hold up very long. This one seems to be very good.

Good arm exercise. This sprayer doesn't work by pressurizing the whole five-gallon container. It pressurizes a chamber that then powers the spray. You only get a full-pressure burst for about 4 seconds before you have to pump some more. It will spray for several more seconds at lower pressure without additional pumping. It's too heavy for me when filled to its five-gallon capacity. Two gallons (plus cleaner) is about the max for me. But two gallons goes a pretty long way. I'm not sure why the manufacturer doesn't make all their sprayers resistant to bleach. I guess the idea is to give buyers the option to save a few dollars, or to give the company the option to charge a little more for a bleach-resistant one. In any case, if you plan to spray bleach solution, choosing a bleach resistant sprayer is a good idea. There was a little chemical odor from the sprayer when I first unpacked it. I think it was from the sprayer hose. I left it outside for a couple of days and it seems to have dissipated. It does reach the eave of a two-story house, but doesn't as easily reach the highest parts of the gable end. You might need a ladder for that. Assembly was pretty easy. It also comes with a fan spray nozzle.

For a 1 gallon sprayer this Chapin is perfect for my meager demands. Two, 3 or more gallon sprayers stand in the corner of our garage waiting for the old man to use them again. The Chapin's i gallon is that perfect solution for weight and ease of use. I spray a gallon and take a break. I am on a two day break now and who knows when it will end? It was easy to assemble and worked well after the first try. The real key to success is after a few applications with bleach and no failures. Then it is an honest 5 star. Failure to spray will downgrade to a 4 or 3.

Good quality, works as it should. Easy to assemble. I decided to start using bleach for weed control and cleaning the deck and shower because it's so much cheaper than buying individual cleaners for all of that and this works just as advertised. One of those purchases that isn't "fun" but well worth the repeated service it offers for household jobs.

I'm using one of the two sprayers I bought to spray wood cleaner and it works great. I did learn a trick; the lid leaked air so I was constantly pumping it up. then I got the idea of smearing some petroleum jelly around the top and that solved the problem. Now it even holds pressure overnight.

It's cheap, it works well and it's tough. Mine has been full of 100% bleach for over a year and it still works fine. I dropped it on a concrete floor while moving it the other day and it didn't break like other sprayers do if you are lazy (like me) and leave bleach in them.
