This is just the type of toy I would have loved when I was 7 or 8 years old, or even at 12 or older. Since our (awesome) water rocket is so hard to prepare and pump up, I bought this set for my 3-year-old daughter to play with more under her own power. Even when she jumps on the airbag thing full-force, the "rocket" only goes about 20 feet high, but at least it is something she can accomplish by herself. Of course, if I jump on it with my 210 pounds, then it might reach the promised 400 foot range. The projectiles are not super-safe as far as eye injury is concerned, so I keep my daughter under pretty close supervision when she is playing with this toy. I'm not crazy about the flimsy launcher base design, and the price could be a couple bucks lower for what you get, but overall I think this is a great toy.

Really goes a tremendous distance, especially if you jump up and slam your foot down onto the inflated pad. It does require supervision and training though, as anxious kids may be eager to stomp the pad as another child is leaning over to load a rocket. This becomes incredibly dangerous if the rocket is launched vertically because your eyeball is in the path of the rocket as you drop it into it's launch position. Angled launches don't have this inherent safety risk, but typical backyard launches are vertical, not angled, because the rockets would otherwise land in trees or on rooftops. There are other stomp rockets on the market that have a much larger tip, made of foam rather than rubber ("Ultra Stomp Rocket). Those rockets have no safety risk at all. However, it's launch height is a small fraction of the launch height of this stomp rocket, and may only amuse kids under 5. This toy says it is for ages 16 and up, but we have had it since my kids were 6 or 7 and they have been trained to use it safely. My thoughts on toys like this... supervise, teach, then enjoy.

This was a hit with grandchildren aged six to thirteen. Fun for both boys and girls. The thirteen year old girls had only a passing interest but the boy that aged enjoyed both the challenge of getting it really high and helping the younger set of boys and girls play with it. The six to ten year olds seemed to love it the most. It worked best on a concrete surface (sidewalk). It didn't get the 400 feet advertised so don't expect that however it got really high. It easily went 20 to 60 feet and sometimes higher. You would expect the heaviest kid to get it the highest, but not so. One 35 pound child could jump two footed on it and shoot it fifty feet up! The stand is flimsy the way it snaps together but two bread twist ties secured the connection and it worked great thereafter. Great fun and a great show for the adults!

The kids love it! Really that's all that matters. Setting it up and jumping on the air bladder to make the rocket fly always elicits a lot of laughing and smiling faces. Watch out though, those darn rockets really do go a long way!! Find space to do this so they don't end up landing somewhere you can't get them...

My son loves his stomp rocket!! He purchased one last summer and after much abuse the part you stomp on got a small hole and wasn’t pushing as much air to the rockets. He is begging for another set for his birthday. Definitely still giving 5 stars because he is very rough on his toys. Would probably last longer for most kids, good quality for the cost.

Stomp rockets are one of the most impressive kid powered toys ever invented. Get a milk crate for the kids to jump down off of on to the launch bag and stand back. Our Estes Alti Trak Altitude Finder says these definitely do go 350-450' high on the best launches and 250' on a mediocre one. I would buy Extra rockets as these go high enough to get lost and/or destroyed by an unfortunate landing from time to time. Be prepared to help the kiddos repair the fins with packing tape as the launches and landings are sometimes energetic enough to fatigue and tear the plastic. The minor amount of additional weight added by a tape repair job does not adversely affect the performance in a noticeable way.

This has been my 'go to' toy for many years. It makes a great gift for kids ages 3 to 9 (although older kids always get drawn to it), it is a must have for grandparents. Dont buy cheaper knock-off brands go with Stomp Rocket as they are a high quality brand and replacement rockets are easy to get. Stomp Rickets never disappoint and it gets kids of all ages playing together. It can be confusing deciding which model to go with, but I buy the "extreme" even for 3 year olds as it goes the highest (it is a lighter weight rocket). I brought this to a family picnic the other day and all the cousins ages 2 to 15 were playing together with it....The "extreme" model is for all ages - dont listen to the suggested age 9+ nonsense. The higher the rocket can go, the more it encourages the kids to stomp harder. My almost 3 year old nephew loved the extreme stomp rockets, ever though he could only make them go about 10 feet.

I bought one for every niece and nephew I have and I will never forget Christmas Eve from ages 2 years old all the way up to 15 years old boys and girls all in the front yard stomping on those things so they could send them as high as possible. You cannot beat it for the money. If there was a 6-star rating this item would get it.

Bought this for my 6 year old grandson for his birthday. He loves it, it really does fly 400 feet so make sure you have a large area. It came missing legs to the launcher but still worked with someone holding it. I wrote to the company asking for replacement legs and they quickly sent me a whole new rocket and launcher. Kudos to this company. Great Toy fun for all ages.

I have to admit...I bought this for my 5 year old son, but I found it to be just as enjoyable! Setup took a matter of minutes before he was launching his first rocket in the air. he was impressed with the THUMP followed by a dissapearing act as it launched into the sky. After he had a few tries it was my turn, I assumed it would not handle my 200lb frame very well so I started light and worked my way up to an all out double foot stomp that left craters where I landed. The SQUEEEEEL from my son as the rocket nearly "went to the moon" was priceless. We lost a few rockets that day to rooftops, damage from landing on pavement, and one down a difficult to repeat sewer drain. I advise to have the little ones wear safety goggles. These rockets can put an eye out if they hit you square in the eye after tumbling back to earth from hundreds of feet up.
