I have over 50 of these containers, stacked on utility shelving and used to hold the overwhelming amount of "miscellaneous stuff" in the average basement workshop. They're great for this kind of long-term storage of infrequently accessed items. The lid snaps on via detents, but doesn't have a separate locking device like more expensive boxes. The box material itself is semi-flexible plastic, but is definitely not indestructible. I've had several damaged in shipment, an apparently not uncommon event based on some earlier reviews, but the seller (VMInnovations) replaced the damaged units immediately. I wouldn't use these in an application where they were being heavily (ab)used on a daily basis, or where the items being stored are heavy. They will break under such circumstances. But they aren't the cheapest crappiest boxes imaginable either (you can find cheaper that are just total flimsy garbage), so if you have the right application they will work perfectly. If you're going to use more than a few of these, I'd recommend a removable labelling system (eg Dymo D1 type) otherwise all your Stuff will get lost in a sea of white boxes - it'll be organized but you won't be able to find any of it..

These boxes are *perfect* for what I needed them for - I recently began dancing a *lot* (Salsa, Tango, Swing, etc., as well as going out club dancing), and because I'm a strict vegetarian, I wouldn't order brand new dancing shoes (because...leather - I don't want to be part of a market demand for new leather). So I ordered several pairs of gently used dancing shoes through eBay (gently used because I'm more ok with pre-owned leather, several pairs because you never know how they are going to fit, and even several pairs all told were not much more expensive than one new pair). Well, it turned out that *many* of those pairs of dancing shoes fit nicely, and they are all different styles, so I wanted to keep them all. But..how to store them? Especially the fancy ones with fabric and spangles. Enter these storage boxes. They are shoe box size and *perfect* for storing shoes. That said, if the shoes have fairly high heels, they will not fit 'upright', because they will be too tall for the lid to close, but they will fit laying on their side, nested 'head to toe'. Two thumbs, and two happy dancing feet, up!

I needed more of these for my many women's size 12W shoes after being told not to store them in the cardboard boxes. I ordered them because I wasn't going to be near a Target store anytime soon, where they were slightly cheaper but not many were in stock at one time. These are larger than the ones at the Dollar Store, which won't hold my size. The lids do click shut but do not lock. I stack them and they seem fine.

I needed something neat, functional and preferably not too expensive for a stairstep herb garden since deer feed in our wooded backyard and eat nearly everything. These were perfect for the task and look neat. A nice bonus is that they drain well with 12 holes drilled in bottom of each, and they overflow down the stairs with the upper containers watering the lower ones. Functional, attractive and affordable. Thank you Amazon for knocking it out of the park again!

Always arrives as expected. I have ordered these multiple times. These are one of my favorite Amazon purchases lol. I used them for everything! So versatile. Can be used for almost anything. They get put to some tests and keep surviving lol. I have used them for shoe boxes, closet organization, freezer storage, to hold smaller items when packing and moving and storage for just about anything.

Just what we needed. Didn't exactly need a dozen, but I figured once I started organizing that I'd find things that needed boxes. Sure enough, that's exactly what happened. I ended up using half of these right away and still have a few left over. They're just the perfect size for shoes, crafts, tools and parts organization. I love to stack them under shelves where I can just pull out the whole box and then look through it. The tops don't fit super tight and don't have a latch, but they don't need to, in my opinion. If you're looking for am effective organization solution at a fair price, this is your bargain. If you need something more sturdy or with locking lids, perhaps look at other options, but expect to pay much more.

These flexible plastic boxes with lids that have a slight snap on either end to keep them in place are wonderful for any number of purposes. I purchased 6 and have them all filled with hobby materials of one sort or another. It is a good step up from old cardboard boxes and they stack neatly. I store a couple of boxes full knives which can be rather heavy and these boxes stand up to that weight well. If you stack too many of them on one another full of heavy objects, the plastic will eventually give way a bit. I my experience the sides may bend out and possibly spill the heavy weight, which I consider more my problem than the boxes. They seem to be okay and the sides straighten back up once the load is reduced. I also keep a good bit of my wood carving tools stored in these. I'll likely get more at some point. Helps things look cleaner at the least.

I have liked these shoe box containers a lot. However, I did get a great price here verses the local retail stores. The main #1 reason I bought this many was because they are all the same style & stack well. Over the years companies likes to change their product in which you have to either replace all the ones you have & buy all new ones OR you could just try & stack the new with the old. The walls are more square so it maximizes space & a little sturdier. I paid $25 for a dozen & I was not willing to pay a little more for the ones that have latches on each end; might be a good idea to get the ones with the latches if you have kids. The box that I got came in is a snug fit. I mention this so that if you receive a damaged box, you can just about bet there is damage to the boxes. I recommend & I am debating if I should buy more so I don't have to worry about the styles changing should I need more. 03-23-16 Update, I did go ahead & buy 48 more. I know I can use them, not at this very moment, but I have the peace of mind that all of them are the same & when organizing I feel at ease.

I got the idea from a friend, but I use these 6qt bins for shoe storage. I have an unmentionable number of shoes (I'm both proud and embarrassed at the actual number) and these bins are a perfect for size 10 in men's dress and athletic shoes. I would say this is the max capacity for this size of bin. I've attached pictures, but the idea is to keep my shoes clean in between their infrequent wearings. I have so many that just don't get worn enough to get dirty and I was sick of having to dust them when I did want them. The bins aren't an airtight seal or waterproof by any means, but they will keep the dust from collecting. Note: This solution replaces the cheap over the door hangers that inevitably rip from the weight and I will likely repurpose those to a storage closet for cleaners, rags and brushes.

Saw another review mentioning the product code so I just want to mention that I have 1642N2 on the bottom of my boxes (that's the good number apparently) and they are indeed good boxes for storing various things from shoes to stationery. 1 of the 12 arrived cracked/chipped but I got a replacement immediately after I contacted the seller and the rep I talked to was as nice as can be. Can't ask for anything better than that.
