Solid sledge hammer that will last forever
Same high quality that Estwing is notoriously known for. I did concrete construction in high school using their 22 and 28 ounce blue handle framing version and still use them today. I needed a sledge and didn't even look at another brand. Went right to Estwing and as soon as I received it, knew it was high quality. Well balanced hammer with shock-free handle coating overmoulded or dipped. Made in USA is a huge testament as to why these hammers are so heavy duty and a must for anyone needing a serious hammer that will last. The most important thing about this hammer is it is worthy of the age-old statement "you get what you pay for." Estwing didn't skip corners on this hammer, it is solid. Spend the extra money and he a sledge that will never break, and will last forever if taken care of.

Used in Industrial Applications.
This is a solid hammer, and it is used almost daily in a shop that re-manufactures oilfield equipment. When I buy tools I buy them to last and this one will last a long time. I have used this almost exclusively to hit pipe wrenches to bust stubborn JIC fittings on hydraulic equipment and it has performed well. If you are in the market for a hammer that will probably outlast you, then you are looking in the right place. Suggestions for improvement: The metal between the head and handle is almost too thin for industrial applications, maybe beef it up at least 1/8 to 3/16 inch to extend longevity of the tool, this is the only achilles heel this tool has.

Estwing may cost more, but they are worth EVERY penny!
This is absolutely my favorite hammer to use at work! It replaces my 14 year old Estwing 3-pounder that was lost while repairing heavy equipment at a mine site. After more than a decade of hard use, my original hammer was still in excellent condition and could easily have been handed down to the next generation. Although most of the blue finish was worn away, the rubbery material used on the handle was still 100% intact (even after prolonged exposure to -40°F temperatures) and there were no chips, dents, or scratches on the hammer itself. I'm sure my new Estwing replacement will hold up just as well!

Nice Hammer
This hammer is very well built and has good balance. It did come with a few marks on the head, but lets face it, this is a hammer. It will have lots more marks after it is used.

Great value for a hammer you'll use more than you imagine
This Estwing B3-3LB hammer measures 11" long and its head is 4" wide, so the picture shows the 4-lb. hammer. No problem, as this B3-3LB is the same blue-coated hammer you'll find in Estwing's catalog. If you need heft around the house, you will use a 3-lb. hammer more than you think. A 4-lb. hammer -- such as the

Worth Every Penny!
Estwing manufactures the best steel hammers, rock picks and chisels I’ve ever encountered. They serve well for the purpose intended. The rubber handles absorb most of the shock when using making them comfortable to use and easy to handle. As far as quality is concerned, you would be hard pressed to damage or destroy one of these tools. They cost a bit more than many other available brands but if you really intend to use the tools then you will be happy you paid for quality. With Estwing you are essentially investing in a top of the line tool that will last you a lifetime.

WORKS GREAT AND IS MADE IN THE USA
This 3 lb sledge works great for splitting small kindling. You can check out our video on our youtube channel at Creating A Simpler Life - video is titled "Splitting Wood With A Mighty Hand." Favorite part of this model is that it is Made in the USA.

Produces strong blows with limited swing
I wanted this smaller 2-lb. hammer for shaping tin and aluminum parts on an anvil. This B3-2LB also works very well as a camping hammer for setting up tents. It works of course because it's not as heavy for the task as the

Made In USA w/ American Steel
For a hammer, packed well by Amazon w/ several air poaches on top. All blue 3lb USA hammer. Has what appears to be a polyurethane clear coating over the head to initially temporarily protect the steel - It also enables it to show the hammer hasn't been used.

A Hammer for nearly all occasions
In 1962 I bought one of these to take camping to hammer all sorts of things including rocks, concrete, asphalt, tent stakes, splitting wedges, large dowels and pins, serious roadside automotive repairs, etc. I've also used it a lot in construction and teardown projects. Recently I bought another for my son-in-law. It is great for all types of construction and home improvement projects. If you put up a stud wall and need to move it a bit, this is the tool. The short handle allows great control and can prevent a number of self-inflicted injuries. It is in-destructable. The handle and integrated head are all steel with some sort of miracle, plastic type material covering the handle and forming a comfortable grip. Of course, the price is more than double what I paid for it back in 1962, but it should last at least four or five generations--or more. It is case hardened and really can be abused. Don't drop it on your toes--it is 3 lbs. and can smart quite a bit. It also works well for blocking when you or someone else is hammering or pounding out something from the other side. There are others on the market but this is the original indestructable, all steel, small sledge hammer. Try one, you won't be sorry. And, be carefull about loaning it out--a well meaning friend just might forget to give it back!
