I went to two local big box stores looking for traditional drill bits sizes up to 15/16”. I was surprised that I couldn’t find anything sized even close to what I was looking for. So I went to Amazon and found these Hiltex Silver & Deming bits. The package shipped quickly and when it arrived I was pleased to find that it came in nice wooden protective box. The box has a golden metal latch. I’ve never received drill bits secured in a nice box like that before, so I was kind of shocked when I opened the package. Inside, each bit was wrapped in its own heavy plastic sleeve and they sat on a black foam mat, each bit has its own little slot. Each slot is marked with the appropriate bit size. Based on the packaging, I think these bits will be easy to store and easy to find in the future. The bits worked just fine for the job I was doing, which was to drill larger holes through an aluminum door handle. Aluminum is not a huge test I know, but they seemed robust enough to do bigger jobs on heavier materials as well. So far I’m happy with my purchase.

I only needed a 3/4" bit for a project, but considering the price, this was a much better deal than buying just one bit. It worked as expected and made nice 3//4" holes. I leave them on my bench in the opened box to impress my friends. Glory!!!

My experience is better than some others. I bought these to enlarge a hole from 3/4" to 1" diameter in 5/8 thick mild steel and expecting (as a retired machinist) to sharpen them several times to finish the job, then possibly throw them away. Even though my drill press will only go down to 250 rpm (a little fast for the larger drills), by drilling it out in steps and keeping the drills drenched in cutting oil they did the job and came out looking like they could do it again. There was no wobble in the drills and the clearance behind the cutting edge was good. I'd definitely recommend these based on what I see.

For the price of this entire set, you couldn't even afford one higher quality bit. At this price point you should expect that you will need to start off with a pilot hole and work your way up. Take your time and sharpen at your bench afterward. If you're a hobbyist with any common sense, then you'll do fine with these. Packaging was smashed to bits upon delivery, but I didn't buy the box. I bought the bits. 5 stars.

I was impressed with both the quality and packaging of this set of drills. I had been looking to purchase a 5/8" bit and expected to pay around $20. Now I have a whole range of large bits at an exceptional price. Bought some cutting oil at the same time and the bits worked wonderfully, not "one and done" like most reasonably priced drill bits.

These tools are worth this price just for the case--which is solid wood, with spring loaded clips and a felt liner. Since one typical bit this size at a local hardware store equals this entire set, prudence use would suggest avoiding hardened steel. I used them on mild steel with good success. This would be a perfect choice for gifts for male friends, because the set looks exotic and metal bits above 3/4" are impossible to find in smaller cities.

Good large drill bits. Worked great for purpose I purchased them for. I used to drill bowling ball. If you purchase for this purpose use fairly slow speed. Do not drill a pilot hole I will repeat this do not use pilot hole. If you do they are very aggressive and will tear up ball. Drill press would help, but not necessary. Then clean up with Dremel type tool and sanding wheel, to bevel hole. Saved over cost of pro shop $40 for holes. Now I can drill balls for whole family. LOL

These are great bits for the price. I needed to drill six 7/8 holes through doubled 1/4 inch plate with a hand drill and these did the job with no problem. I don't think I could get another six out of them but this set cost less than one bit of any of these sizes. If they are used in a drill press they would last a very long time.

These worked great for drilling through 1/4 hot rolled plate steel. I stepped up bit sizes as usual and ensured that the bit was centered and had no problems with the bits handling the material. On first use I made the mistake of having the chuck too close to the piece and had to move the platform, the small deviation in concentricity caused issues, but the bits still managed the hole, though with some frustration. When I corrected this on the next holes, the bits had no problems drilling up to 13/16". Just go slow and use a lubricant

Very good drill bit set for the value. Purchased these to drill out a damaged hardened steel bushing in a steel fork leg - worked great. Consider that an entire set of these costs as much as some individual drill bits on here, so it is hard to justify buying anything else but these. I feel this is true especially if you just need it for one or two uses. Same day shipping was convenient and super quick on a Sunday.
