Perfectly designed hand held unit takes 4 AA rechargable (or ordinary) batteries to give it a great weight for a handheld unit. The grinding stone included is just right for my Wheaten. The guard is turnable to get just the right angles to manicure each nail (claw) and round it out. Just follow the 2 to 4 seconds per nail as it seems to do the job. Very much satisfied as I like to take care of my pet at home as I am never sure what can go on at a groomer. Gives you a chance to get to know you dog better as their feet are so tender and this model will instill trust in your dog that you will do it right. Perfect substitute for the expnsive home improvement store models that takes ordinary batteries and was designed for a pet.

This is a great tool. I recommend following the directions closely the first time you use it to make sure you don't scare your pet, and always use the safety guard, but I haven't had any problems with cutting the nail too short since I've started using this. I have a 100b lab/newfoundland mix and the holes in the guard are big enough to fit his nails. His doesn't mind the sound and it has just made nail cutting days 100 times easier for both of us!

This is a great product! It was very easy to use, it is very quiet and I would definitely recommend this product. I was very nervous using it the first time, but it was so easy. I recommend using it on 1st speed setting and just a couple seconds per nail to start to prevent grinding to much or burning your pet. Grinding the nail creates heat which can be very uncomfortable for your pet. There are a couple great videos available to watch on l if it helps you to watch it done before doing it yourself. I had my groomer check my work and she said my dogs nails were perfect.

Used on a geriatric lab with really long nails. Works without upsetting the dog. Relatively low power which will cause the motor to stop spinning if I get too aggressive. I view that as a good thing. I have a shop dremel I could have used...and hurt my dog. Slowly but surely with weekly use I'm getting the nails and quick to recede. I'd recommend for anyone with the same issue.

Fabulous little tool! Very easy to use on my dog without scaring him. The motor is quiet on the low speed, and a bit louder on fast speed. I start out slow, then switch to high speed when he relaxes a bit, back to slow if he gets antsy. Mind you, restlessness is a pretty good sign you have gone as far down on the nail as is reasonable to go. My dog's nails are black, so it is very easy to trim too far, even with this tool. So trim a bit, check the tip of the nail, trim a bit more if necessary. Just don't get crazy and start grinding away without checking your progress, because, like traditional clippers, it is indeed possible to "quick" your pet (make him bleed) by nicking the tip of the nail blood vessel - I haven't done it yet, but I did come close once, so I know it is possible. This is true even with use of the nail guard. So, if you just go slow and use care, this tool is ingenious. I emphasize, use care -- if you over-trim (quick) your dog or cat, you may as well throw this tool away, because once they start to fear any tool, it is next to impossible to get them to let you use it on them. On the other hand, if you really want proper short nails, remember that the vein naturally recedes with a shortened nail, and grows longer with an untrimmed nail. So just trim a bit each week, and that quick will start to recede, and you will then be able to get the nail shorter. Whatever you do, do not expect to be able to transform 1-inch nails back to Westminster show length with a single trim, with this or any tool. Like anything, just use some common sense.

I had another nail grinder for my dog that took some time to grind down the nail so I'd have to do her paws at separate times. With this one it works so fast and well that I was able to do all of her nails at one time, it created less stress for her due to minimal noise and less grinding sessions. I love this product so much I got one to replace the other one I have.

This is the third one I have purchased. My niece is a groomer and she said that the strong nail grinders are great for big dogs but they take too much nail too quickly on the small dogs. So this grinder is perfect for small dogs (my three weigh about 10 lbs each) So I gave her my old ones (they are about 5 years old) and also bought new ones for her to keep at work for a backup and one for me to keep. I have had several people borrow them for there 40 & 60 lb dogs and they are not really strong enough so it takes too long and stresses the dog.

I love it!!! I just wish my dogs did to. I have 2 beagles and they can't stand the noise. Even the slow setting is loud, they just freak out. Nice product though. I tried leaving it on in room for a few hours. They still bounce off the walls!!! Oh-well. It is a great idea though. I bet labs and bigger dogs don't mind at all. Has severall hole setting sizes for all size dogs nails. Grinding stones/paper. Nice product. Definitely buy if ya have a bigger dog!! Not $$$$ either.

Will never go back to the old guillotine style clippers. Wasn't sure if my Boxer would be okay with the vibration and noise, but she doesn't seem to mind at all. No more yelping from the painful clippers. Within 3 weeks of buying them her nails no longer make noise on the wood floor when she paces around. Definitely worth the money. Still using the original grinder wheel and batteries after more than 6 months of weekly use..

Ok, In the past I bought one of those nail grinders on TV like this one. It was a POS. I had a very negative opinion of this types of battery device to trim my dogs nails. But I relented and purchased this one. This is the best . At first my dog was skittish but then she became used to it. The high-speed works like a champ. The sanding disc only turns in one direction therefore you have to articulate the trimmer according to the direction of the sanding wheel. With the curvature of the now. For instance in your right hand for One Direction and in your left hand for the other direction. You have to be careful that the small dogs nails don’t get caught between the sanding wheel and the plastic outer casing. I highly recommend this product.
