This is my first time trying this. My first notice is, it’s way more convenient to apply than silk wraps, second, it feels really sturdy. It really feels like a life saver. The side of my thumb nail started ripping before it even grew out. I ordered this in a hurry knowing I would’ve had to cut it if I didn’t act fast. By the time I got it, it ripped even more and the nail was JUST BARELY growing out. The white line in my pic shows the breaking! Yes, you can see the grainy area of where the glue/powder was applied. Yes, it’s still slightly rough even w/ nail polish applied, but typically I’d paint more layers on and it would smooth itself out. The texture as it is, is hardly noticeable and not bothersome. Some tips for a smooth finish: 1 smooth swipe, 1 quick dip! Let layers dry completely in between, don’t be afraid to buff!* start w/ the dark pink side (coarse grit I believe), buff really fast for 6-8 sec at time how ever many times you feel comfortable, then buff the same way with the pink side (light grit). It’s gives it a pretty good finish. Anyway, thank you @Simplynailogical for leading me here and thank you Orly for having this product!

WOW!! This works so much better than I expected. The nail on my left index finger began ripping on the inside edge right where the nail bed ends. I tried fixing it with nail glue and coffee filter material... no luck. My hair would get caught in it while blow drying and that would pull the tear even further. Then I noticed the outside edge was starting to tear as well, to the point where only about 25% of the nail was still intact in the very middle. I cut down the length of the nail to take the stress of it, put some Scotch tape over the whole nail to stabilize it, and prayed this Orly nail repair kit would arrive quickly. Once it arrived, I prepped the broken nail by removing the gel polish I had on it, taking care not to increase the rip. I cleaned the nail well with alcohol and contemplated putting my gel bonder on it as well, but decided not to. I followed the instructions on the Orly kit, which are quite simple -- paint the entire affected nail with a glue-like substance, dip the entire nail into the little tiny tub of powder it came with, shake/brush off the excess powder, and voila -- no more rip!! Per the instructions, I repeated this process twice since the rip was was bad. The immediate result was a somewhat thick and lumpy surface, somewhat like a poorly applied acrylic nail. I used the little buffer that came with the kit and a fine grit file to smooth the whole thing out. I then cleaned the whole thing again with alcohol and a lint-free wipe to prepare it to reapply the gel. The gel seems to have adhered to the repaired surface just fine. I was able to use all the normal coats of the gel system without issue and there was no burning or anything under the UV light (which I was a little apprehensive of). The price for this kit seemed a little steep, but given the results, I'd say it was worth it. It seems like you could many, many repairs out of the amount of material included. I am so, so glad I found this or I would have had to cut the affected nail all the way down to the nail bed (I am approaching a Kardashian-esque level of nail obsession so this just was not an acceptable option!!). I am really hoping this fix lasts for at least a week or two when I strip the current gel color and reapply.

I literally glued my nail BACK ON. I am honestly amazed this worked. I've used Orly nail rescue in the past for minor cracks, and it's been great. It definitely makes your nails look thicker but, hey better than a broken nail. I really didn't think I would be able to RE-ATTACH a completely severed nail! It did come out a little crooked (obviously I was doing this one-handed), but I'm stunned. I got my nail back! Didn't think it was possible. And yeah, you can see it changes the texture on the nail. It's really hard to buff this stuff to a smooth finish. So I will be using a ridge-filling base coat.

Not a typical user; an older guy with active hands whose nails now crack and split frequently. I have tried every hardener, resin, etc. trying to keep badly broken and split nails in-tact. This is the only solution I have tried that has worked for more than a few hours or days. It does go on bulky and needs a lot of filing to get near level or even, but the material holds and is durable. I will note that the glue bottle can glue itself shut with equal permanence as it fixes a broken nail. To open the bottle last time, my strong grip was no match, nor was a pliers on the cap while holding the bottle. To open, I finally had to put the bottle in a vice and use a pair of pliers on the cap. You want to talk about a strong bond? Too bad it was the product cap!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this. FInally something for my nails that doesn't require six hands to apply! It's SO easy. I have one particular nail that will not grow more than like a 16th of an inch without splitting down the middle. It snags on everything and I have to file it all the way back to the fingertip and occasionally it splits down even further! This stuff is magic. I have not had to reapply to that fingertip, although I did fix another nail and part of the fix stuff popped off...but the thing is, the part that was actually split was still covered. All I had to do was refile the remaining fix on that nail so that the part where the fix came off was smooth. Then I reapplied the clear base coat that I had on. (no color for me yet because I'm just beginning to get my nails healthy after a few months of gel polish and the resulting removal with harsh polish removal, all but destroyed them). Anyway, back to my original problem nail. I did TWO coats on that one and maybe that's why it's lasted so long. I applied it on the 15th of July and today is the 22nd. So one full week and it's still on and the nail is growing out. MORE importantly, when i get a nail that splits and snags I immediately apply this fix and no more snagging! The smaller the split, tear or break the better. So the key is to get them when they first appear. If your nails are like mine (paper thin and fragile) this product will allow you to have many snag free days. And if I can do it easily ANYONE can do it.

This is the best! I have tried other nail repair methods and similar powders that have not stayed on very long and eventually take the broken nail with it. This one REALLY works! It bonds extremely fast. I was hesitant to buy it because some reviewers said the liquid part had a strong smell. Maybe Orly fixed that because I did not notice any strong smell. I coated the nail and dipped it in the powder and it was done. It lasted until the nail grew out. There are some comments, not criticisms. Be careful with the liquid and keep the bottle upright. The cap tends to stick. I have had to use pliers to open it. The resulting repair is very hard, harder than your nails. I wore out a glass nail file trying to smooth the repair. The repair was harder than the nail file. Maybe emory boards are better. There is a filing pad included but it is a small square. It would be easier to use a long file or jewelry drill/buffer. I will order a second set for travel.

Best kit ever. First nail broke 3 weeks ago. I just reapplied again.....it was still strong. Chipped another nail and repaired in just a few minutes. Absolutely the best way to repair a nail. I actually thought about adding a layer to all my nails for strength.'I now have a kit at home, on at the office and one in my purse. I think I am covered.

I just used this for the first time a few days ago. Wow! I had a nail that was broken so far down and almost all the way across. I wouldn’t have been able to cut it back without lots of pain and blood. I followed the instructions for using this product, and it couldn’t have been easier. Two coats, light buffing, and now you could not tell after polish that there was ever a break. My nail looks great, feels strong, and best of all, I think it will hang in there until the break grows out far enough to make it bearable. Amazing!

I am trying to grow my nails out, not sure why they are suddenly breaking so much lately. Maybe I am just more active. Tired of getting them to a length I like and having one break far down. I ordered this to use on the next one and I am glad I did. Noticed while out last night that this one was broken pretty good on the side. Would have had to cut it all the way down to remove broken tip. I have tried the teabag trick several times, I cannot get it to work for me at all. Have tried using clear coat to affix and nail glue, neither will stick to my nail at all and it looks horrible. This was very easy to use, brushed on the glue, dipped in powder and allowed to dry. Filed it down to smooth and repeated the process to add a second coat. Once filed down to make it smooth I applied a clear coat and as you can see, it is not noticeable at all. Very happy with the results and I can leave clear if I want to, but tomorrow I will be applying a gel polish for a party this weekend. As long as you file it down to make it smooth, looks great.

As I’ve gotten older, the ridges along my nails have become more prominent and I frequently end up with slurs along those ridges. My nails have also become more brittle over the years. I’ve tried a wide variety of patch kits as well as homemade patches (made from tea bag filter paper). Prior to reading about this Orly nail repair kit, I had been applying household super glue to the split nail tip and immediately dipping the “wet” nail tip into baking soda. But this Orly kit takes that basic approach to a whole different level. The brush-on glue makes it easy to apply a thin, even coat so it doesn’t dry before I can dip the nail into the powder. The powder is very finely granulated and creates a much less lumpy surface than the baking soda did, so there’s much less work to file it smooth - especially if I apply a second layer of glue and powder. I’ve found that, while the included sanding pad works okay, I get much better and much faster results by using a pair of dual-grit medium (220/320) and fine (400/600) nail/salon boards, going through all four grits from coarsest to finest. I can’t recommend this kit highly enough!
