The right tool for the job.
Pulling a starter to lock a flywheel is hard. This tool slips into place under an easily removable inspection plate. Worked great at holding the engine solid while I loosened (and tightened) the crank pulley on my duramax - that is nearly 300 ft-lbs tight.

Great price on here!
Sure you could get this set off the tool truck but on here you get it for a steal! I have used these on a bunch of duramaxes with no issues at all and balancer bolts are over 300ft lbs. Tools are just as solid as they were was brand new. You won't have to worry about cranking over the engine with this tool. Though I suggest if you don't use 3/4 drive at all and want to use this socket get a low profile adapter to 1/2 drive. You will need a big breaker bar and long pipe to break the balancer bolt free.

Duramax
This product worked great. Nice hardened steel. My Duramax was an LMM and I used the socket with a 3/4 inch breaker bar. I used the flywheel key that did not have the bolt for my application. This setup saved me a lot of time and worked great while I was changing out the water pump. I watched a few you tube videos on how to install the flywheel key and that was simple to install. Sure did the job breaking the balancer loose and did the same for bolt install after I was done.

Don't forget to remove the stop before starting the engine.
This worked perfectly for what I wanted to do. Stop the flex plate so I could remove the harmonic damper bolt. Just a word of caution. Always add a failsafe to make sure you don't engage the ignition while the stop is still in the flex plate. I pulled the key and covered the ignition keyhole with masking tape to ensure I didn't try to turn the engine over and then have to cry because I wiped out all the flex plate teeth because I forgot. A simple reminder can save thousands.

i was VERY glad that I purchased this
I had to do a water pump on a 6.6 Chevy Duramax. i was VERY glad that I purchased this. Socket fit perfect on the nut and the flywheel holder worked like a dream. Held in the bell housing when I was cranking and stayed until i removed it. This made the water pump job much more enjoyable and made it go much faster. If you are thinking about doing your water pump and buying this tool DO IT

Excellent value for the money
Excellent value for the money, super easy to use. If you need to take the damper off your duramax this tool will save you alot of time and frustration. I like that it comes with the socket for the crank bolt. The socket is 3/4 drive so make shure you have the right breaker bar. My only complaint is that the finish is a little rough and it is marked made in china. Also don't forget to remove the tool before you start the engine. I'm sure it could do some damage.

Works great
Simple tool, but it worked perfectly for holding my Duramax and transmission while I torqued on the harmonic balancer. Was worth buying, but is wished it was a bit cheaper.

Time saver tool
This is an essential tool for anyone who works on duramax engines often. This eliminates the need of removing the starter. Instead, you just pop off the inspection plate on the trans housing near the torque converter, plop in the toothed tool, and you now have a locked flywheel ready to go. Just don't forget to remove the tool afterwards. I used mechanics wire to tie a florescent orange vinyl tab to the tool so it's a visible reminder. Would highly recommend.
