I am a mechanic and this is exactly what I needed works excellent

These are nice BRASS punches, they work great if you have something made out of steel that you don't want to scratch. They will bend and deform, simple material properties of having a punch made out of material with a lower comprehensive strength than the 2 objects that are loading it. If you don't want punches that will bend don't buy brass punches.

great for gunsmithing but its brass

I was surprised to see so many negative reviews for this product. And then I realized that basically the negative reviews were from gun owners. They should’ve done their research. Brass is not a great material for hammering on a steel object. But it’s absolutely perfect for working on silver, copper, and other jewelry metals. I love them. They do a fantastic job.

Perfectly adequate for my purposes. The 1/16 punch is definitely delicate (given that it is 1/16 and made of brass). The nylon pouch is also nice. Great value!

These brass punches are just what is needed for getting those stubborn roll pins without marking up the area. The only downside is that the smaller punches bend very easily, but that is the trade off with being made of a softer material to not damage what you are working on.

If your working on any firearm that you dont want to ruin by scratching the surface , then always use brass , if your installing the parts on a ar15 lower than definately use brass pins .

After reading some of the reviews about other brass sets available here on Amazon, I was more than a little hesitant in buying these since who knows where these things were sourced from and whether or not the same sorts of problems with brittleness are endemic with these as well. But the price was cheap and what the heck, if they crack or shatter right out of the box, shipping back to Amazon for refund or replacement is about as easy as it can be. All that said, it's been three months and these punches have done everything I've asked of them. I've used even the smallest sized one (1/16, using a brass-headed hammer) on a motor part for a R/C car AND on a pin wedged into a pistol grip (H&K P30), and it didn't splinter into little bits ('knock wood' for its future survival). For the price I have to say that I'm highly satisfied with the results and the product.

These are soft so you have to be careful not to bend them, but since that's the whole point it wouldn't make sense to ding them for that.
