great packaging; form-fitting stryofoorm, inside a plastic bag and placed in its own box, then that box placed inside a shipping carton with bubble wrap. Don't know how it could ever be delivered damaged. After opening it the direction stickers were easy to remove with no sticky glue left behind. It works and looks perfect and exceeded my expectations which were already very high. Lastly, what a wonderful surprise I received when my Sam's Club 13 gallon reinforced kitchen garbage can liners fit perfectly. (See Photo) Don't believe those reviews that say you have to buy the manufacturers' liner at a ridiculous price, it is not true. Even if you use oversized liners they built in a feature/place to hide the excess plastic. Very satisfied. totally recommend. I look forward to seeing what else they make.

This product came packaged well inside 3 boxes! It is almost too pretty to be a trash can, but I love it! I have wanted a weightier can with a liner for several years and just couldn't bring myself to pay over $30 for a kitchen trash can! I finally bit the dust and purchased this one on sale at Christmas. A newer model had just come out that had a built-in pocket for trash bags on the back side of it, accessible from the inside of the can to make changing the bag more convenient. I was so glad to get this one at a discount. It can stand flush to the wall, just as it claims, which I like. The lid closes slowly and quietly, and has a button for locking it in the open position when needed. The only thing I see that could become a problem is that the lid is thin and flexible with a slight arch, which presses in with the slightest pressure. I am hoping it doesn't get bent out of shape or dented very easily. With a 3 yr old and three guys handling the trash daily, I'm not sure it will hold up for the money. Honestly, I didn't take the time to read the reviews before purchasing to see if anyone else has had issues with the lid. All I can say is I hope it lasts us a very long time for how much it cost.

Edited to add: Simplehuman customer service is GREAT. I returned the defective can and received a new one, and it works perfectly. Lid closes completely. Yay!! --- Almost everything about this is great, but I'm bummed because it's brand new and the lid doesn't close all the way! There's a gap on the right side (see left & right pics). It's not huge but it's certainly noticeable, and more importantly, it's enough that odors escape the can. Doesn't seem like the lid or hinge are defective, it just looks like the lid is just a little too big on the right side so it catches on the frame and won't lower all the way. I've reached out to the company for help so we'll see how they respond.

Tried to find something cheaper, but we definitely wanted a step to open can and the plastic ones don't look as nice and they move when we step on the peddle...so we spent the money for the simplehuman. It fits nicely in our space and works well, just as described, and amazingly really doesn't leave finger marks. I usually hate stainless steel because it required constant cleaning, but this really doesn't. Now if it lasts ten years it will totally be worth the price.

It is possible to love a trashcan? Yes, if it's a SIMPLEHUMAN 50 liter. This thing is huge, sleek, shiny, modern, and adds a touch of elegance to any kitchen. I tried the SIMPLEHUMAN trash can liners and immediately ordered 60 more. They fit like a glove and you're able to get tons more garbage into the can the you would with the cheaper bulk bags from local outlets. I can go a week without changing bags. The trash can works flawlessly and closes with the grace of a ballerina. Buy one and you'll soon be loving it too.

I waited about a year before I finally ordered; I thought it was too expensive for a garbage can. But I was wrong. This thing is great. It's so much better than my previous round bin: it holds much more; the lift mechanism is smooth and quiet; the bag stays securely in place, and the wide opening makes it easy to dump stuff in. The Simplehuman bags fit well (and I got a free sample box of 10), but my old Kirkland bags from Costco will also fit fine with a little encouragement. I can't believe it, but I actually love a garbage can!

I've never been so happy to spend $130 on a trash can. I literally love to throw things away now. Not to mention it's completely DOG-PROOF which is our main reason for purchasing. Our previous metal can had a lid that was easily lifted by a dog's nose and was therefore severely inconvenient. We had to either empty the trash or move the can outside every time we left our dogs home alone. Well, no more of that. It is also easy for our 2-year-old to open so that she can use it. The pedal is too hard for her to push but she can use her fingers to open the lid. The rectangular design is perfect for putting up against a wall. It feels very sturdy and the slow-close action of the lid is lovely. Overall I can honestly say I recommend this trash can.

If this trash can was on Tinder, I would swipe right on this can! I love it and I love the bags that go with it (Q). I don't even mind paying extra for their bags, I like them so much. Much like Steve Martin in "The Jerk", if I could only take one thing with me it would be this can. I've already bequeathed it to my eldest child in my will.

I've been using this trash can for about 8 months now and I absolutely love it! It is "resistant" to fingerprints and I have two children who put their hands all over everything. My kitchen does not allow me to hide a trash can out of sight and this one looks really nice - much better than the black plastic ones. The top of the bag is hidden and the lid closes tight to keep odors in the trashcan. The opening is wide which allows easy access and less spills. Regular trash bags can be used but I have found that the really cheap brands are little snug, but still work with no tears or slippage. It would buy this trash can again and again and definitely recommend. It arrived well packaged, no dents or scratches. The mechanism to lift the lid is well made and the lid closes softly (no banging). Clean up is easy - I use Clorox wipes on the outside and around the top rim and have not had any problems or issues in that regard. Unlike every trash can I've ever bought before, I feel that this one is superior by far. I think it will last a long time and still look and work great!

I do, I do love a trashcan. This is how a trashcan should be. A nice-working pedal so you don't have to touch the can, a soft whoosh rather than a crash when you step on said pedal. The top opens without hitting the wall, and slowly, ever so slowly glides back down. And, it looks great alongside other stainless steel appliances. Its presence is not only not offensive, but actually pleasing! I got the plastic top can, and the plastic is extremely thick and durable. The black makes a nice contrast with the steel, just like my other appliances. I actually enjoy throwing things away! This may sound crazy, but every time I use it, I feel glad and smart that I got it! It's extremely well made, and carries a five year warranty, but I'm sure it will last longer than that. Not cheap, but a great value. With this, you get what you pay for.
