Basic website builder, with advanced options

Honestly, This product has been the easiest website building tool I think I have come across. I've been through a few, I didn't understand how to use Dreamweaver, or Frontpage, and don't really have the time. I actually work on the website in my spare time for my family's small business, but I find it quick and easy to use and update when I do. First of all, my favorite thing about this product, is how a lot of the editing and creation of pages are largely based on a Microsoft Office program like Word or Publisher. There are lots of Youtube videos posted by Serif for instructions, tech support, and updates to fix any bugs. You can also implement a lot of Google tools like Analytics, Webmaster Tools, Maps etc., Bottom line, I am extremely satisfied with this product, I think they can get away with charging more. Haven't used the e-commerce option yet, however I have read other reviews that it works great. One suggestion, is more templates to start with, and to make the code it conforms to more easy for a crawler to read, which helps with search engine rankings.

great web design software for the price

with webplus, you don't need to worry about programming skills so you can focus more on the content of the page. It has a easy way to create your own template(master page) so it makes easier to add pages to your site with the same design at no time. Serif also has a great customer service in facebook. I have read from other users that registration must be on a call, but if you ask for it, you can register online without any trouble. I love the software capabilities so much i've just ordered the x5 version of it. I recommend to install the update patch the first time you use it in order to work better. the only thing i didn't liked is that using user list to register to your webpage it is done in the serif webpage somehow, but that's not the bad thing. The fact is that when a user registers, receives a message saying you are using serif web resources, which it's not good if you are planning selling the websites. the good thing is that you can create special texts areas that can be modified by your customers, likes news, offers , etc, without having the software via serif web resources.

Useable Web Creation

Web Plus x4 is a practical application it does a lot for what you pay, it is well supported, they do answer you and the on line and in package support is good. Yes is needs more work on it that is why it is called Plus x4, no doubt there will be Plus x5 and so on in the future, applications develop and this one will be no exception. Expect great things from these people, they are taking note of every comment here and elsewhere. As a user of computer technology for many years now I have seen programs come and go, a few stay and many become standards in the industry for which they are designed. There is every chance that this product may be one that sticks around for the long term. It can do what it advertises and that is an achievement in a world laden with vapour ware and wiffle. The main packages in web site creation cost a fortune and the vendors do little to make them useable for those who need rapid web site or document production. The whole point of technology is leverage in getting things done or who needs it? Yes there are features that are not supported, so tell them about it! No software firm is going to ignore you, over time much of what you wish will appear, perhaps not all, but most is good enough. There is need for software to be able to partner with other component providers and suppliers; web site creation is perhaps an area where this is vital more than most. I have used a database software system Alpha Five for years it is now web aware and SQL savvy, so goes development of a once PC based system to a more generalized WWW generation, Web Plus is no exception, more and more firms are becoming de facto partners in permitting functionality to operate within each other's platforms. Not everything fits at first, reviews and comments send messages to those who create software to permit crossover and co operation in the way software works. I intend, in time, to see if the two above systems can be made to work together, if not I will put up comments on their blogs to see if others have ideas and so on. Users have a responsibility to do what you can yourself then ask others and the providers for help. In my experience solutions evolve and we all move on to better functionality. Web Plus x4 is a typical product that does what it does efficiently; it will evolve to greater things. So far I have found it easy to use but it isn't trivial in the way it works or what it offers. You do need to learn how to play it, there is much it can do already. So far I have yet to need things that it can't do, when that happens I will let them know. If you need working web sites this software will do it, if you need high art and technology it will do much that is flashy but not all. For those who need the extras either wait for the next version or learn the top end software or pay up for the programmers. I have a budget and items two and three on that list are non starters for me. There is one trite point and it is this about web sites, so much time is wasted on technology when a well planned site on paper with the right menus and good writing with meaningful graphics wins every time. That old aphorism KISS keep it simple stupid works for me, I hate web sites that are a bane to navigate and are all but irrelevant and/or meaningless in content. Web Plus x4 will guide you, as it has me, to create functional web sites. It is early days for me but I expect success for this software for them and me. NO I don't work for them.

Aftr reviewing others

I did a test on 4 webdesign products. I got the trial version of each and looked at what I could do and how easily things could be modified. My final choice was between Xara and Serif product. I went with WebPlus because I felt the product worked best for me. I also do some programming in other languages and WebPlus allows you to modify some things with code. There was a little bit of a learning curve with this product, but I found a lot of Videos on YouTube explaining how to get great results. I have now used the product for a few months and I just love it. I have actually order the new upgrade WebPlus 5 through Serif. Just want to say you do need to register the product, which will unlock some more stuff. The only problem was you had to call and let them try to sell you something else. However, after getting used to the product, I love it.

Great for beginners

I had never developed a web page in my life. With the WebPlus X4 software, I was up and running in no time. I had two or three versions of the site I was creating up, published and running in a matter of a couple of days. The support from Serif is excellent, getting back to my email questions in a matter of minutes. I have nothing but good things to say about this product. Creating my website was easy!

I am very pleased with WebPlus X4. This is my first time ever creating a website and I had my site up and running within days. It allows me the creativity that I found lacking in other programs I tried. I could get NOWHERE with other web authoring programs I tried. The online tutorials and the programs help pages are very well done and easy to understand. I was expecting a severe learning curve from my experience with other program but Serif makes it all easy. All this plus live email and phone support (which by the way I have never had to use). I heartily recommend this program. Stan in Minnesota

Best web development software I have used

While I won't classify myself as a professional web developer, I have been writing computer programs for 30 years, and have built and maintained various websites (see (...)) over the years. The first two was developed with html, javascript and php, using plain text editors such as wordpad. The last one I built using Web Plus X4 in a matter of maybe 10 hours of work. Next I have purchased X5 and plan to redo the website. My other two websites took literally hundreds of hours to build and drgoodness.com has been maintained and modified over the past 4plus years again taking more than 100 hours. Of course, one could not do some of the things such as PHP with X4 or any other Webplus product, but this software is REALLY easy to use, and can be used to make an excellent website only limited by your imagination. A friend recommended this to me see Wesparks.com, he used one of the templates. I built dannyhouse from scratch. I know it is very simple, but it is actually the way I want it to be. Many years ago I dabbled in Dreamweaver, and I suppose today it is a better product. But Webplus is MUCH easier to use, and as far as I can see allows most of the same functionality. And it is MUCH cheaper too! If you really want to build a website and have shied away from it because you think it is too difficult, get Webplus. Incredibly easy to use and very versatile, GREAT software product!

Honesty - you don't have to be a professional to look professional with WebPlusX4

I have nada website experience, but after reading reviews of this product and lucking out on getting a great refund deal on Amazon, I purchase WebPlusX4. What an awesome product. Their instructions are wonderful, the tutorials are wonderful, and the tips they include - especially about search engines is priceless. It truly gives the professional nitty gritty to work with, and the total amateur a perfect path to creating professional looking and acting websites. I don't think you can go wrong with this software- they seem to have thought of everything! You don't have to learn all its bells and whistles to create a great site with the site templates they provide, but you have many levels you can master and create in - at your leisure. I can't recommend this product enough!

My First Web Page

This is the first page I have ever done. The first web page I put together with this software was by using one of their existing templates. It was relatively straight forward if not easy. The manual and all of the on-line blogs and help videos were very instructive. The only problem I had was posting it to another web host. This was solved by searching on-line, a call to the host for needed information and the final realization that the entire site name (including [...]) was required. This information was not explicit in the manual. The second web page was built from scratch using what I had learned. Assembly was much faster and the final pages included everything I needed. The only problem was adding an html code fragment to allow google to report on the number of site visitors. This was solved by a quick e-mail to serif help. This was very good software for learning; it helped me produce a good web site quickly; and the e-mail help along with great help videos and articles was better than some more expensive software.

I liked the "master page" format

I rebuilt my business website in 2 days. I liked the "master page" format. User friendly and built in FTP tool for uploading and updating. You can't beat this program in my opinion.
