I saw these on the techmoan youtube channel and even though I'm definitely not the kind of guy that buys pretty ornaments which is basically what these are, I wanted one. I put it on my desk at work and almost everyone who comes by stops and asks me about my spinning globe and asks me how it works. I usually tell them I have telekinesis and when I'm bored, I use my mental powers to spin the globe. When they don't believe me, they usually think it has something to do with the base. I tell them to pick it up and hold it in their hand and watch it continue to spin. Nobody ever guesses that it's solar powered but I let them try to figure it out for a while before I tell them. So this thing fascinates not only me but most people that happen to see it spinning away on my desk. I think this would make an excellent christmas gift for someone that is otherwise difficult to buy for, it's hard not to be fascinated by this simple spinning ball

I gave this 5 stars because its a great idea, technicality challenging to make and executed beautifully. I read on the company website that it may not work in high-rise building by that has not been true for me. I keep it by a window so there is plenty of light and open space for the internal magnet to align with the earth's magnetic pole. If I had to be really picky about it, this particular globe could have a slightly better color control. Most people would not notice, but there is a bit too much green in the printing and not enough blew or warm earth tones. For a stand, I suggest you pick something that puts it on stilts like the one that comes with it or something similar. The flat wood stands just dont give that floating effect that seems to enticing at first. Its a visual thing but when it sits on a solid base, it appears to be run by some cheap motor in the base and doesnt have the same magic or intrigue you get when it up high off the surface.

We bought this as a wedding gift for my grandson and his fiancé as a sweet wedding gift. They are world travelers and we are sure they will love it as much as we love it. The wedding is not for another two months, and I am not sure the box will last long enough. When someone comes, we must dig it out and show it off. The box is starting to get a little "used" look to it, so I think we are going to have to buy one for ourselves. It rotates slowly and silently as if by magic. I don't understand the technology, but am sure the younger ones will. It is absolutely mesmerizing to watch. Another point is the price. While the larger globes are much more expensive, which is understandable, we feel the price is quite reasonable for this size.

This is such a wonderful item. The 4.5 inch globe is the perfect size. It doesn't require so much space and is still glorious. The Earth Satellite View with Cloud Cover is glossy. The picture looks matte and a bit darker in color. This is vibrant and reflects light. The seam and fill point are visible in the outer shell, but you have to get very close to see them. Over a month after purchase and no leaks or problems of any kind. This lovely piece has exceeded my expectations. It will be amazing when they figure out how to do a 3-layer globe so that the clouds move independently of the continents, but I'll give them a few years to figure that out. I also wish they made similar planetary globes in, not scale, but representative sizes -- perhaps a 2.5 inch Moon, a 6.5 inch Jupiter, etc. (I am sure someone could figure out decent sizes). I would love to figure out how to attach rings to the Saturn globe. :-) I collect art glass and have several that have a planetary theme. This Mova globe is a perfect companion piece. I highly recommend it.

Saw this in Australia at a museum last year and my husband fell in love with it. I knew that was going to be his birthday present, but I had no room in my luggage to safety store it, and of course, without him seeing it. So I wrote down all the info and ordered it on line. He was absolutely floored when he opened it and it's been on our living room table ever since. It's amazing to watch it spin all the time during the day. Great price on line and in fact, I saved a lot of money in the long run.

I have this at my desk at work. I get tons of comments and questions. Almost invariably people walk around it, look underneath it, walk around it again, then finally ask "How does it work?". :-)

Big fan of these Mova Globes. With limit funds, it was hard to pick a favorite. Maybe in a future version since light passes through into the globe itself to a solar cell, they could design it to store some of that energy into a battery or charge the battery using a wireless charging design where the base is the wireless charger. Then when the ambient light is low or dark outside the globe, then the globe would light up evenly internally as it spins, kind of like a night light effect. Anyhow I am happy with what I have. I bought one for me and one for my Dad.

Really fun product, def a conversation peice. Takes a bit of light to get moving. More than house lights.

I bought this for my husband after seeing a similar one in someone else's office. We both were so taken with it that I knew I had to get him one for his office. It spins beautifully, without a cord. It is well made and a great conversation piece. I am considering getting one for my home so I can enjoy it too. They also come in several designs which made it very hard to choose! This is a great gift for the person that has everything. I don't think you would be disappointed.
