It works well
So being a cheap so and so { according to my wife] I decided to give this little tv tuner a shot. I quess being cheap sometimes translates into being smart, at least in this case. I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of installation and the quality of the device and its software. I installed this tv tuner on a Lenovo x201 thinkpad laptop. I simply plugged it into a 2.o USB port and my Windows media center did the rest. I followed the prompts and within 3 minutes it was up and running. I did not use the included CD at all, the installation manual that accompanied the tuner guided me through the Windows media player installation as well as directions for using the CD for the Total media 3.5 software {which I did not use]. The small antenna that comes with the tuner is of limited use due to its small size and short antenna rods, however I also purchased a larger antenna to use with this tuner {see separate rating} I recommend this device, it works and is CHEAP.

Diamond TVW750USB ATI Theater HD TV-Tuner
I've been using this device for years with my Vista OS PC desktop. Its a little tricky to install, but eventually it installs perfectly. I use a Pentium D processor PC, 2-Gb's of 800 MHz RAM. I also use a Sapphire video card. And a simple Creative Audigy SE. I'm a retired old dude, I watch TV all day long. I use a Digital converter box with a RCA ANT1050R. Actually 2-antenna on a splitter--into the digital converter box. This keeps me from making antenna adjustments. When I tried the Windows 8 Customer Free Download OS...my video was more exact. It was much better. I tried it with my Win 7 PC and I had more problems getting it installed--but eventually did. However--about a week later--I needed to re-install it. It operates best--on my Vista PC, I might need to do a re-install after 8-months of use. Sometimes I need to perform PC restarts--should I not do proper shut-downs of my devices, the video screen will develop a BLIP--line across it. Proper Shut-Downs and Re-Starts eliminates that. Its a great device--it works great. Its not expensive.

Love it, but hated it at first..
I just needed a tuner-interface into my PC for my basic cable box and this fit the bill. This device enables me to just drag Windows Media Center player across to my 50" from my pc and go full screen and it works perfectly. It saves having to change HDMI sources between TV and HDMI with the TV remote. All I have to source anymore is my PCs HDMI. It also cleans up the picture quite a bit over a straight CATV connection into the TV. The included ArcSoft Total Media player is awful. Jittery and slow. But even for a trained tech (me), this thing was a very difficult piece to install. It took installing drivers from three different sources to get it to appear in my device manager (as "Hybrid TV Stick)and quite a while to get both the included Total Media player and Windows Media Center to accept and play channel three without forcing scans for multiple channels, satellite boxes and digital air. I'm not sure how the average user gets the disk to run in auto player either. It took many tries to get my PC to recognize the drivers on the disk to begin with but repeated attempts did the trick. Great device, though. It will record, it has access to a lot of on-line content through Diamond/ATI that can't be found without great difficulty alone. But it's not plug and play by any means. Good Stuff though!

A Bargain!
This DOES work for Windows 8 (I am using W8 Pro). THANK YOU to a previous reviewer, C. Hubler, for installation info. To install drivers and software in W8 you must use the Compatibility Troubleshooter function (view DVD files and right click on the autorun file, selecting Compatibility Troubleshooter) to make it think it's installing in Windows XP Service Pack 3 environment. This tip saved me from hours of frustration. Installed without a hiccup after doing this. Great unit, works with Windows Media Center (available for purchase for Windows 8 users from Microsoft) but its own software is just fine. My LCD TV died so I'm using this until large LED TVs come down a bit in price. Analog stations are a bit degraded in quality for me, but I can handle that for under $30! Digital and HD are great. Not sure how they can give you the tuner, antenna and remote for this price, but I'm sure glad :)

It works without any issues, except for the so-so antenna
Had it for a bit over a week, and this thing simply works. I haven't set it to record shows, but it works fine just to watch tv on my laptop. The included antenna is not the best and I had to move it around a bit to find a spot with best reception for all the local channels. I tried a very similar Hauppage product, and while this unit looks and feels to be made on the cheap, it does all that the Hauppage unit did for half the price. The only negative is that it gets pretty hot, which doesn't really bother me and doesn't disturb anything, but at the same time makes you wonder how much current it's drawing from the USB port. A couple points that may have gotten it the few negative reviews I've seen here. First, you have to run the drivers setup (I used the enclosed CD) as Administrator on Windows 7. The other thing I noticed when I brought this to work to catch up on some things in the evening while watching TV--you need to set monitor's refresh rate to 60Hz, otherwise the picture is jumpy. I found the later by googling for it, so always good to google first, before writing negative reviews :)

and I it gave me a message like "this device will not run on Windows NT"
When I first got this, I tried installing the drivers on the CD, and I it gave me a message like "this device will not run on Windows NT",???, and I was on Windows 8. So then I tried drivers on the website, and that worked until my Toshiba Satellite with Windows 8 died 2 weeks later. Then I tried to install it on an old Sony Vaio with Vista, and nothing worked. I tried many different drivers with many different TV programs. And then I found out Vista has a built in option that automatically blocks some exe from installation, without ever telling you its being done. You need to right click on the program installer and go to properties, then check to see if the program is "blocked", if so unblock it. after I did that. I reinstalled the entire package from the website for a 32bit Vista machine. Now it runs perfect Also I want to add, many people have a problem with the remote working properly, as I did, until I found out the IR receiver is located on only one side of the device. So the remote will not work properly if its plugged into the left side of the PC. I plugged it into the USB on the right side of the PC, and the remote works perfect

This is a very effective little tuner. It has good sensitivity, good picture quality, and is gentle on resources.
Performs flawlessly, and with the Win 7 Media Center it is very nicely integrated with fast, with well organized channel listings downloaded by Media Center (no subscription needed, and nothing to join). Unwanted channels are easily filtered out, and the pause feature is very handy. Tuner sensitivity is at least as good as in our HD TV, and better than in some TVs we've had. (We get broadcast signals out of Phoenix, 100 miles away, so tuner quality is readily apparent). Connected to a USB 3 port, it runs almost at room temperature, but I did notice that when I connected it to a USB 2 port it began to warm up rather quickly - might be something to watch closely if you have to connect via USB 2. If you're using AMD graphics: Beware of driver update 14.9. I was unable to access the tuner once that update was installed ("tuner is busy"). Uninstalling components one at a time revealed that the hijacker was the Catalyst Control Center. Reinstalling ver 14.4 put everything back in order. Using this tuner with an AMD FX-6350 CPU and AMD R9 270 graphics, the CPU load is about 9%-11%, only using a little bit of three cores at 2.1 GHz (when under load 4.2 GHz), and the GPU handles 1920x1080 TV at only 450 MHz (it snoozes @300 MHz and heavy graphics loads push it to 1150 MHz), so very light on system resources. Bottom line - this little tuner has turned a $150 monitor into a second HDTV with excellent picture quality and built in recording capability, and unlike an internal tuner, it is easily transportable to a different computer. I can find no reason not to recommend it - it's been a nice addition for me, and free of annoyances.

Wow!!!
I am blown away with the performance of this product. I have a brand new Toshiba 32" HDTV hooked up to an amplified antenna, and it generally works great but requires the occasional getting up and moving/turning of the antenna to keep the signal flowing. I hooked up the same antenna--leaving it in the same location of the house; nothing moved at all--to this card and the signal works 99.9% perfectly with zero need to ever reposition the antenna while watching TV for 3 hours straight. Hooked up to the Toshiba TV the antenna requires moving around about once every 45 mins or so to keep things flowing. So, this card appears to get at least as good a signal as a brand new 1080p Toshiba TV, and probably better. In addition, the card does come with DVR software which works great and is easy to use. This listing makes no mention of DVR capabilities but they are included! I have used only one other USB TV tuner in the past and it was much the same as the Toshiba TV with periodic repositioning needed. It also cost about twice as much as this one. So bottom line, this product has great performance and a great price. I could not be happier.

A delicious digital dongle!
Having used several other brands of DTV USB TV Tuners, I expected the performance of this product to be similar. Though released in 2009 its performance is superb, and I suspect its VSB demodulator (ATI T-507) is a 6th Generation type, akin to the Auvitek 8522 and Samsung S5H1411 found in other dongles. It picked up all my Los Angeles digital channels (122 total program streams) with ease. The Total Media recording software that comes with the device installed flawlessly on my Windows 7 32-bit laptops, and performed perfectly. I did have to finagle the installation on a Windows 8 64-bit desktop by tricking the drivers into thinking it was loading into a Windows XP Service Pack 3 environment (using the Compatibility Troubleshooter function), but once past that hurdle, it performed every bit as well as on the Windows 7 PCs. Curiously, it would not work in the Windows 7 compatibility mode on the Windows 8 PC. Go figure. The actual tuner inside is an NXP TDA-18271HD silicon type. It and the demodulator seem well-matched. The only criticism I have is that the signal strength monitor for the DTV signals is a simple 6 step bar-graph indicator; I would have preferred more detail expressed numerically as to SNR and even bitrate. Other than that, this device is a real gem. I only wish I had discovered it sooner!

Best thing since Sliced Bread!
The expression "Best thing since Sliced Bread" is overused but it really does apply in this case. It not only enable you to watch Over the Air (OTA) TV on your computer but enables you to look at the OTA Electronic Progam Guide (EPG) AND record programs, either real time or selecting a Channel and Time. I have not tried it an Cable TV but have no reason to think it would not work just as well. I just experimented recording and playing back an Infomercial so I am not sure if sometimes programs are protected preventing recording. I was looking for a way to make a "Man Cave" be independent of Satellite Cable using a combination of OTA TV and Dish Anywhere (Dish via Computer) and was looking at OTA DVRs. These were pretty expensive and had mixed reviews. This USB TV Tuner fits the bill and the Tablet I use has an HDMI outlet so I can connect it to the TV. We do travel overseas a lot and it will be interesting to see if it really does work on other TV systems. It took about 30 minutes to set it up because the instructions were confusing - but that may just be me.
