Good looking sturdy, well designed cheap bookcase!

Goes together easily,reasonably solid and sturdy, looks great, just like the picture. Box as shipped is pretty heavy to move around you might want to remove the boards one by one to where you're going to assemble it. Don't overtighten screws. Although this didn't really need it, my previous experience with these sorts of things made me go to Lowe's and buy a $12 piece of thin one side white particle board, 4x8' very dense and sturdy with a good white finish that exactly matches this bookcase. Low'es made two free cuts on a nice big saw to give me a 30 3/4" x 71" piece, which I screwed onto the back of this bookcase (instead of the supplied cardboard) white facing toward the inside of the bookcase. Use 1 1/8" small phillips wood screws (the kind from Lowe's that fit a power driver. Don't drive too hard. With this super stable hard particle board as a back, you've got a $225 bookcase now! It is solid and beautiful and very cool looking, it is so white it almost disappears when you look at it. And to prevent sagging of shelves, the permanent shelves are screwed to the backing, and I'll do something (glue a small white block) for the movable shelves to support them in the middle. So for a little added cost and work, lots more solidity and beauty IMHO.

Sturdy, easy to assemble, and looks great!

This bookshelf is a great purchase! I was able to assemble it in about a half hour, and it’s very sturdy, especially for its height. It even came with extra pieces of hardware (nails and such). It’s a great color and looks more expensive than it is. Overall, one of the best furniture purchases I’ve ever made!

Fabulous Bookcase

It's great to find a product that exceeds expectations. This bookcase is solid and attractive. The assembly instructions are very easy to follow. We got the gray color and it blends well with most furniture. They even made two spacers out of particleboard to insure that the shelves didn't shift during shipping. I also appreciate the extra dowels and shelf brackets in case of loss. The safety bracket installed at the top is a great idea to keep the bookcase from tipping forward. I also placed some wedges at the bottom front to keep the weight pressure toward the back. They have a phone number available at all times for technical support. Looks like our neighbors to the north (We're in Vermont) in Quebec, Canada have done a great job. I like this product even better than Ikea.

Great book shelves

Great book shelves! I'm a stay home mom so it's much easy to order it through Amazon. My husband questioned it but I found lots of good reviews so i gave a try... It only took 2 hours to assemble it by myself, and I also bought the wall stickers from Amazon to make more fun. My son just loves his new reading corner!

Great Quality! Sharp Color! Easy 2 Assemble!

We were looking for a durable bookshelf that could proudly display an army of books. When this arrived, we were very excited and not displeased! It was easy enough to assemble and has a sharp white color. So far, we have had it for around a week and it has held up well. The only thing I would improve is that the shelving doesn't really hold in place but that's if you pressure it unevenly. This also could be a result of not putting it together right. Happy! Great For the Price & A Tad Better than Retail Stores!

I ordered five of these. Two 5-Shelf Cherry, Two 5-Shelf Pure White and one 4-Shelf Pure White. Yesterday I built the two 4-Shelf Cherry shelves and I built the 4-Shelf Pure White. Generally speaking the hardware, such as the screws that hold the major components together, are a bit more solid than shelving units I've purchased at the big retail stores. The ultimate shelf is a solid wood shelf, but those would be far more expensive. For the price, these are fantastic. Some other reviewers said they received damaged items. I haven't had that experience. There are even pieces of particle board, used as packing material, that came in the boxes to "even out" the box as to avoid any damage. They were well packaged, the instructions were good, and I plan to order three more. The hardware baggies even have a few extra little pieces just in case you drop one or lose one. For what it is, its fantastic. I saw a review that stated that the shelves bend with heavy books. I could see that being a possibility, but for the price, these are fantastic. If you're interested in a solid wood shelf, go to an antique store, or elsewhere, if you're willing to spend the money.

5-shelf is HEAVY and TALL, be aware!

I didn't look too carefully at the dimensions or weight, but the 5-shelf bookcase is taller than me and was a hassle to lug up to my condo for installation. One of the panels arrived chipped (the lower front-facing panel) even though the box was intact. If you are picking this item up at a different shipping location, make sure your car has fold-down rear seats with a front seat that can be pushed forward - because it is a very long and heavy box. If you are bringing it up stairs or just moving it, it's a 2-person lift package. I was able to move it myself and I'm by no means a strong person, but for safety reasons I recommend having at least another person to help. So overall, had I known or paid closer attention to the dimensions, I would have opted for the 4 shelf bookcase. Overall: 5/5 stars Well-made, not too hard to install, just unwieldy to move around

Satisfied - Nice Looking Bookcase

This bookcase works perfectly for me. I had an overflow of books that were needing a place to go and didn't want to spend a fortune on another shelf. I ordered the gray oak and love the color. My husband put this together for me as the pieces are very heavy (and tall!), and I was barely able to drag the box into the house. He did not grumble about it, so I don't believe it was too difficult to put together. :) We did not have any cracked/damaged/missing pieces. I did not read the weight limit before putting the books on but haven't had an issue with any extreme bowing. If I look very closely, there is maybe a *slight* bend on the shelf that holds the graphic novels, which are heavier than my other books, but not enough of one to be noticeable or cause me concern. I think this was a steal for the price, and it looks much nicer and feels more sturdy than the case I purchased years ago from Wal-Mart for around the same price.

Likes: -easy to assemble -nice paint quality -looks good dislikes: -not heavy duty at all -leans on carpet so make sure you safety strap the back or something -pretty cheap materials

What I was Expecting! Great Price!

Great for the price!! Was looking for an inexpensive way to add bookcases to my daughters playroom! These served its purpose just fine. They were easy to put together and all pieces were intact. I think for the price, they are definetly worth it. At this price point, I was pleased with what I got!
