Bucilla stocking kits are good

Every Bucilla stocking kit I have made has been well made and looks great. I have made 8 of them

Directions are easier to follow if you have made one before. If you have not they will be harder because sometimes the steps don't make sense as written or they foget to tell you to sequin first, etc. If you use the picture as a reference as you go it helps.

Very,Very Pleased!

I've never done needle crafts before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Over the years, my Grandma made Bucilla stockings for my entire family, but lost her eyesight before I had my first child. So I decieded I had to carry on her tradition. I have almost completed the stocking, and will have it done in time for my sons 2nd Christmas. It is fairly easy once you get started, although overwhelming at first. I strongly suggest watching u-tube videos anytime your confused about how to do a stitch. Also if you're brand new to needle work, save yourself a LOT of time, look up easy tricks to knot the tread! The kit includes good, detailed directions; however, in less you're familiar to this type of project it might be confusing at first. At least it was to me, but once I got started things started to make sense. Like other reviewers, the needles in the kit were not color coded as stated in the directions. The smallest needle is for the beading. I also ran out of red sequines but was able to take some out of a different kit I bought last year at a local craft store (the train is soooo cute and I figured if I was going to spend all the time and energy making the stocking, I should buy the best one I could find)! The rest of the supplies had ample quantities. I didn't care for the font included so I found one I liked in MS Word and wrote my son's name free hand on tracing paper and it worked very well. Overall I'm very impressed with the quality of the stocking. I know it was be treasured for years to come and I'm looking forward to making more stocking in the future. Amazon had by far the best prices I could find online and with free shipping as an option, how can you lose?

I am making this for my young grandson who loves trains. I have been having a great time working on all the intricate designs and I am just about finished making it. I also like the idea that it is Bucilla, a time tested product.

These stocking kits are so beautiful!! I love that Bucilla has put all of the pieces together to create a beautiful piece of artwork to hang on my mantle during Christmas! The directions are clear and easy to follow. These take a lot of time and love, but turn out so wonderfully! Everyone compliments them! I will definitely be buying more as we expand our family!

My favorite stocking of all time!

I made this stocking for my great-nephew & a friend saw it. I am now making one for her grandson. I have made many Bucilla stockings. This is the most beautiful!

Continuing the tradition

I chose this with a bit of trepidation. My mother-in-law had created about 20 Buscilla stockings for various family members over the years which have always held a place of honor. I wanted my young grandson to be in on the family tradition, but was concerned that it would not turn out as well, since I am not the master-needlewoman that she was. My concerns were unfounded. The directions were easy to follow, and it turned out beautifully. I will definitely be creating more as my family grows.

Candy Express

I purchased Bucilla's "Candy Express" felt stocking kit for my grandson. I'm glad I started early, the kit contains 100 separate pieces to embroider, sequin and applique. There is an address, a 1-800 number, and a website for questions or problems. Although not enough red sequins were included in the kit (but way too many gold ones) I have not bothered to contact them as I have leftovers from another project. Instructions are clear, just be patient with yourself as you get used to referring to separate pages for instructions, design chart, and symbol guide. If you have enough experience, you may want to modify the instructions. I personally find it easier to applique some pieces together before attaching to the background, rather than following the recommended "only stitch the applique to the felt pieces directly under the new piece" and "not stitch to..the bottom layers." The stocking is going to come out just as pretty as the picture.

time consuming but worth it!

I decided to make this stocking for my son because I had one made for me when I was little. I do not sew and I knew I was taking on a big project. It took me about 3 months to complete but I found it to be very easy once I got used to the wording of the instructions. I didn't think the tips on how to create certain stitches were very easy to follow, I usually went to youtube to see how certain stitches were actually made. I've since finished a stocking for my daughter and I'm very pleased with the product, I had plenty of materials to finish.
