As a seasoned RN with an advanced degree and a Director of Home Health when my own mum had a “Jiffy Hip” I had one ordered. Installation was as simple as lifting up the toilet seat, placing the new product on the ceramic bowl and turning the knob located in the front of the equipment. My mum used it on first night home from Sentara in Williamsburg. I was impressed with the quality of Drive Products and after 30 years in the industry I trusted this product with my mums bum and incision site. I do recommend ordering in advance of surgery and also recommend ordering a bedrail to assist with rotating and manuerving oneself in bed post op. In addition we had a detachable shower head installed and grab handles for use once in the shower. Very nice product which she is very pleased with and likes to brag to her tennis friends her daughter knows her stuff. The device is easily packed away once no longer needed. but the time came and I'm glad I got this specific one

I just had hip surgery on March 1st 2018, and this product was very ideal! I never thought I would ever use one of these, but the time came and I'm glad I got this specific one. Since our toilet seat was low, this item made me feel at ease. It's the perfect height and with minimal assembly, it fit perfectly onto our toilet. Screwing the front knob to tightly fit the circumference of the inner toilet was just right! Both the handle bars on each side added support knowing I can use them to sit and stand up without moving the raised toilet seat. If you or anyone has to go through what I did, this item will make you feel at ease when using it. Perfect item to have. Oh, and cleaning it is very easy!

This is one of the best medical products I have ever bought

This is one of the best medical products I have ever bought. I have an elongated toilet that seems to me a little lower to the ground than most. I got a script from the doctor for a regular riser but because my toilet is in an alcove with nothing to grab, I went ahead and tried this seat because it has handles. The handles have been a lifesaver. VERY easy to install. Also, as an FYI, there is another company on Amazon selling the same exact seat for about $50.. I only found this one cheaper because another reviewer wrote about the two being exactly the same with this one being more affordable. This is my first orthopedic surgery and the surgery was 2 days ago. The seat, especially the handles, have been a lifesaver. I am 5 feet 7 inches and about 190 lbs and I found the hole to be exactly the right size, but I can see where maybe it wouldn't work so well for a large man. I have had no issues with the seat moving...it is as stable as my regular toiler seat. Easy to clean as well.

This is by far THE BEST PRODUCT I HAVE PURCHASED ON AMAZON, IT FITS LIKE A CHARM ON MY TOILET BOWL, IT TIGHT AS TIGHT AS HOW THE BOWL IS FIXED TO THE FLOOR & I WAS CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO START USING THE BOWL VS A BED PAN AFTER THIS INSTALLATION WHICH WAS EASY. IF ANYONE GIVES LESS THAN 5 STAR RATING IT MUST NOT HAVE FIT BUT FITS FOR MOST TOILET BOWLS. Works as advertised, decal is backward

It was just what I wanted. Not a real problem but possibly confusing to some is the decal above the locking knob. As shown in the photo it indicates turning clockwise to remove, that is backward. Clockwise locks the seat in place.

Never thought I'd be writing about my personal habits, but I'm scheduled for a THR and there you have it. I've seen many of these in use and when I installed it, I thought well that hole looks kind of small. Let's just say I can successfully do everything I need to. I'm 5'7 and my toes hit the floor but can't lay my feet flat. Surprisingly comfortable for what it is. I didn't expect exceptional quality for the price, but it's actually pretty decent. It's worth the price I spent and I didn't want to buy one of the more expensive models since this is only going to be used for 3 months max.The handles are a huge help for me now. Due to the nature of this product, well... Not going to donate. I purchased this and another much more expensive product made by Drive Medical, and find this a better quality than their furniture.

Well designed, sturdy, and works as advertised

I’ve read some of the negative reviews and while I’m sure there is some legitimate negative reviews, many have written things that are just wrong. This seat fits perfectly on a standard elongated bowl. It does not fit on a toilet seat so anyone trying that won’t have much success. So I had knee replacement surgery 5 days ago and installed this today and it fits perfectly on to the ”bowl”. There is a hand nut that tightens to the bowl for a secure fit. I’m 220 lbs and have some girth and it works well for me. I can’t say if this would fit on a round bowl as I don’t have one to test it but it works to raise yourself on an elongated bowl. The one negative and one that is likely for all of these is that I had a catheter in after surgery and sitting on this with a cath in was very uncomfortable. I think if the front piece had been a little lower it might have worked better but it was in the way of the catheter. All in all though, I'd recommend this, esp if you have low toilets and are recovering from hip, knee, or back problems.

Never thought how important this would be after a total hip replacement

Prior to my surgery, I received a call from the physical therapist who was assigned my case. After explaining what to expect post surgery and my home environment she asked how high my toilets were. After explaining they were standard height she suggested going on amazon and getting a portable raised toilet. I never even thought of the need for this device but she assured me that I would need it as much as a cane and walker. After searching amazon site I selected the Drive Medical Toilet Seat and ordered it the day before my surgery. This seat was perfect for my needs. It was portable, so I could bring it from a down stairs bathroom to an upstairs bathroom when I went to sleep for the night. The seat locked tightly on both toiled bowls (elongated) it was sturdy (I’m 6’2” and 210 pounds) and most importantly prevented me from going beyond the 90 degree mark at hip level. It is easy to clean and the best part is the price. The one I was offered at the hospital was 3 times the price. I would recommend this device if you are going to have hip surgery.
