These swing shut locks work AMAZINGLY. My toddler is obsessed with playing in water, and she just pulled off the original latch strap locks we had. These are SO sturdy, and work great. They're not hard to operate, and I followed the directions exactly so my locks line up and I've had zero problems with them. Even my toddler yanking on them with all her might has not taken them off or messed these locks up at all. I will buy these again for my friends, and highly recommend them.

My baby loves water. To the point where it scares us. She has always loved baths from the first one we ever gave her. She loves our pool and recently, she realized there was water in the toilets and we cant keep her out of it. We keep the bathroom doors closed and the toilet lids closed but if she saw the opportunity she was in them! We were very worried about her drowning. I looked at a bunch of different toilet locks and decided this looked the most promising and I was not disappointed. These things are sturdy and easy to install. The only small issue I had was with the little piece that goes on the back of the toilet. Unless its just the right distance away it catches on it when it closes and doesn't fully lock into place, so make sure you test it before you fix it in place. I'm very happy with these and as long as you remember to close the toilet seat, they are very effective.

Easy to use (once you read the manual or have the use explained to you) and install. We bought two based upon the recommendations in some other reviews that people will try and break the lock, rather than ask you how to use it. This is true and we are glad we did get two. So, in addition to buying this if your little one likes going fishing in the toilet, I would suggest the following: 1. Get two of them, because somebody will break the lock trying to demonstrate their feats of strength; 2. Try to remember to tell everyone that comes to your house how to use the lock; and 3. Since you will forget to tell somebody about this and that person will definitely be the person that tries to break it, consider taping the "manual" you get that explains how to open it to the top of your toilet tank... if you are lucky, maybe that will save you a toilet lock. Definitely buy this, if your LO is a toilet fisherman, but know that some adult will try to break it, rather than ask how to use it. As far as once it is (easily) installed, it is super easy to open when you know how to do it, even when you are hitting the bathroom at 3AM and can barely spell your own name.

Great toilet lock! We had three and used them for 18+ months with no problems; though you do have to give everyone visiting your home a brief tutorial on how to open it. Easy for right-handers to do one-handed. Love how if the seat is left open (as we usually do in our master bath because our son is rarely in there) it locks when closed; my son got used to the seats being down and would close ours for us and thus lock himself out! Had to remove two of these locks when our son started potty training; used floss to cut it off and adhesive remover to get everything off/clean. Just wish you could get replacement adhesives to use again rather than having to buy whole thing again if want to re-use.

Had our lock now for almost 6 months and no issues. It was easy to install and hasn’t lost any of its grip to the seat lid or toilet. It’s a lock that will be difficult for a toddler to try to open so it is definitely secure. Only one issue might be that it doesn’t completely lock when you are done but that’s easily remedied by swinging it over a bit and hearing the lock click in place. So not a big deal. For $7, it’s a great product to have especially since I’ve seen what our son throws into his practice potty and “flushes”. Saves us A LOT of money on not worrying about him flushing anything down the toilet. Plus, at $7 you can’t really lose by trying it out.

Very easy to install and simple to use, this lock is a life saver if you have a little walker who somehow loves to sneak into the toilet and explore it further. We have a 1 yr 3 months old son who demonstrated deep interest in this area, caught red handed several times, and we acted quickly by installing this safety lock......problem solved! Seriously ! Also, we have a 4 yrs+ son who uses the same toilet and once taught how to open the lock, can easily do so. For adults, it is a one handed operation when you press the button, slide the lock, and rotate the locking arm while lifting the seat up. The 4+ kid has to use both arms. The 1+ kid tries his best to open this by doing almost of the above one at a time and hence can't open it. He has tried his full body strength to pull the lock, and the glue is strong enough to resist such attempts. An excellent value for moeny.

Let me preface this by saying that I absolutely hate baby-proofing things. They’re such a pain. Before this toilet closer, I had another that was super difficult and frustrating to use, and my husband eventually accidentally broke it (thank goodness!). This one was the one we decided on afterwards. It works great. I can open it in one hand while holding a poopy cloth diaper in the other. The toilet lid stays open independently if I leave it propped up. I was *not* able to configure this so that the bar slides over automatically when the toilet lid shuts, but that’s because my toilet lids are weird shaped.. and really, moving the bar over to secure it in place once I shut the toilet is not a big deal in the slightest. I also prefer this item over the other I have used because it’s located at the back of the toilet lid, which deters my daughter from trying to figure out how to use it because it’s out of her reach. I can also still sit on the toilet while giving my daughter a bath and this doesn’t hinder that.

After the zillionth time of my toddler playing in the toilet, throwing things in the toilet, etc. I decided I NEEDED a toilet lock. Generally speaking, toilet locks aren't super cheap so I did a lot of research on different types of locks and decided to try this one. It was easy to install. I really thought there was no way that some sticky foam on the back of the two pieces would actually adhere to the toilet or stay on for any length of time. I was wrong. I've waited to write a review in case it broke after a few weeks or fell off after a couple of months, but so far it's going strong. At first, it's kind of annoying to have to unlock my toilet to use it, but it beats my toddler doing who-knows-what in it when I'm trying to shower. Simply sliding one button up and then pressing on the other button, you can unlock it to swing the arm out. Yes, the lid does eventually fall down on it's own if you aren't holding it up because of this lock. This would probably greatly annoy me if I was a man. As I'm not, it really isn't a concern for me. The lid doesn't sit super flat against the tank when the lid is up because of the lock but that's to be expected. My kid has tried numerous times to pull this off or do whatever he can to get the lid open, to no avail. That's a win in my book.

I had major issues with my son getting into the toilet until I got this. I mean, at first it was little things-like I had to instruct everyone that entered my house not to leave the toilet seat up. Then I tried keeping him out of the bathroom, but that didn't work. So I was left with my son constantly going straight for the toilet, and throwing in whatever he could find, or that he thought needed a "bath." Unfortunately, there were many times when I caught him "too late" and wasn't sure how much he had "played" in the potty, so he also immediately got a bath. Needless to say, I was more than ready for an end to the toilet playing.... After hours (and boy do I mean hours...) of researching, I finally decided on this. I had read reviews on another toilet lock that actually went into the toilet-and that just didn't seem like the kind of lock I wanted. After ordering, I tracked this package, and waited (im)patiently for this to arrive. As soon as it did, I tore open the package, read the directions, and began putting it on. All you need is a clean toilet lid. I made sure that I had enough room to comfortably move the latch when in use, and that it was placed in the middle of the seat. Setup literally took less than a minute, and has saved me countless hours of digging items out of the toilet, washing off my 20 month old son, and there is no telling how much it has saved me in not having to replace phones or other valuable items that he thought needed to be in the toilet. It should be noted that if you are using this, you will NOT be able to use a toilet seat cover, unless you want to make a huge cut in this item. I did order this a few months ago, and the adhesive is still holding strong, and I have absolutely ZERO complaints whatsoever! I was so excited (as another reviewer was) to receive this and see it in action-and it did not disappoint!!! I watched my son enter the bathroom, and immediately head for the toilet. The pushed and pulled the lever, and did the same thing with the toilet seat...to no avail. I may or may not have stifled a laugh, and finally felt that I could breathe just a little bit easier in my house. Would DEFINITELY purchase again, if needed! Hannah Booth *Edit 20 NOV 2014. This continued to work absolutely great after almost an entire year. In fact, my son had completely forgot about playing in the potty until something devastating happened. See, I work in a men's max security prison, and I have a lot of friends that refuse to be beat by a child safety toilet lock...so when one of my sergeants came over and asked to use the restroom, I didn't think too much of it...until I went to the restroom later and realized that it was broken : ( I was pretty heartbroken, because this thing has been a lifesaver and the adhesive wasn't budging a bit after almost a year. My Sgt thought if he just kept pulling harder that he could get it to release, and in doing so he broke it, but it "went back" sort of...so after giving him a guilt trip, I purchased another one. Remember that if (for some reason something like this happens to you) to clean off all the adhesive residue. I thought I had gotten all of it off, but the new one wouldn't stick very well...and make absolutely positively sure that all guests know how to use this thing. It's not complicated, but it doesn't look like it opens the way it actually does (which is actually great for when it comes to toddlers...bad when it comes to adults.) I used to joke that it is adult and child-proof...but it's actually just child proof because determined, stubborn adults can (and will) break the darn thing. Hannah Booth

Easy to install Perfect for keeping our dog out of the toilet. Opening this lock takes 2 hands. It would be nice if this can be opened with one hand. Trying to use the bathroom at night without having to turn on the light in the beginning has been a challenge but we're are used to it now. Not sure how easy or difficult this is to remove as i have not attempted to remove this. only comes with one sticky thingy so not sure if i remove this If i can reuse it or if I'll damage the product. The stickiness on this is at 1000! So be sre to place this exactly where you want it to be because once i stuck it on, i wiggled it and this did not budge! Very very string grip! Highly recommended to keep kids and pets out of the toilet!!!!
