Surprisingly durable, easy to use. For me its been versatile. Mostly spraying 50% ammonia/water mixture in attempts to decontaminate residual Trichothecene mycotoxins following successful mold remediation. [As an aside, I'm well aware that to actually neutralize this nasty chemical, that technically the US would need to allow the importation of the only known epoxidase enzyme-- but I think that's a long shot (because it would make too much sense)]. Anyway, there are some that advocate ammoniazation of Trichothecene. And while I won't know for awhile whether it works when sprayed on the contaminated subflooring, ammonia has sure seemed to work when used as a laundry additive for mild-moderately contaminated linens and clothing (have been practicing this daily for about a year). Severely contaminated items went directly to dumpster.....wasn't worth the ongoing risk, and its pricey to keep retesting for dust or material-bound mycotoxins. Sorry for my typical major tangential digression. We've also used to apply non-toxic wood sealer to particle board, OSB, plywood (to prevent OFFGASSING of the well-described toxic chemicals that these common household substrates are treated with). Have been using first one for over a year......dozens and dozens of gallons through it without a hiccup. The nozzle produces a nice broad powerful mist when the pressure is pumped up. This decreases to a moderate and weakening spray as pressure declines. Thought to give positive review only because I was order a "backup" second unit today just in case the first one fails-- although there is no sign of that so far. While not a fancy product, it has just been a pleasant surprise given the low cost.

This is a very light weight, low cost, none rust accumulating, sprayer for around the house and farm. Most chemical bottle give you chemical amounts for one gallon of water. No need for math to figure out how much concentrated chemical to add. I have owner 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 gallon sprayers and some of the fellows don't know how to do the math when you get into half gallon increments. Many chemicals are corrosive and will NOT cause a problem in this sprayer (with one exception). The instructions with all these sprayers is to rinse and purge after each use (use fresh water and pressure spray plain water through the system). In my experience, at least 50% of the folks FAIL to follow this rule and leave a little bit of spray in the unit "for tomorrow" or they spray entire content and figure unit does not need to be rinsed out. The problem with this approach is that some of the chemicals will precipitate out and form chunks or flakes - the things that plug up your spray wand. In addition, the chemicals in the water and the ph, may affect the chemical concentrate and render it less viable (won't work). In the West where we have alkaline water, the ph of the water may negate or reduce the effectiveness of the diluted chemicals within hours. Bottom line, the stored chemical in the sprayer may not kill any bugs and will/may plug up your sprayer. So if you are not a professional exterminator, and don't want to spend $150 on a sprayer, this is your unit. I will not last forever, the droplet size will not be as fine in microns, and it won't "shoot" as far, but for most jobs, it will perform adequately. If it does stop working, you are not out a ton of money, you won't tearing down and replacing parts, and you can just go and buy another one. Simple maintenance will extend its life appreciably. I hope years of experience will assist buyers in purchasing decisions. Please click "Yes" below this line if this review was helpful to you.

This works amazingly well for putting down carpet cleaning chemicals when cleaning. I own a Hoover carpet cleaner, but I follow the method my professional carpet cleaner husband always did when using portable equipment: spray down the cleaner first as a traffic lane cleaner. Then rinse and extract it. I was not sure how this sprayer would work compared to the electric sprayers we always had, but it does the job magnificently. It pumps up to a good pressure and that pressure lasts quite a while before another easy pumping is necessary to build up more pressure. I recommended this sprayer to my sister after I cleaned my carpets for the same use. I would have zero qualms about buying one for outside work in the spring.

Dr. SMITH's Pump Sprayer was just what I needed for my liquid lawn fertilizer. I needed something easy to spray due to arthritis...check. I did not want to spend half the day pumping it, bad back....check. I am not strong but wanted something reasonable in size that I could carry over my shoulder....check. I did my lawn and also used it with outdoor, marina water repellant which is fairly thick and it did a great job, not clogging one time. I am completely pleased with my purchase in every way. Bj

I do a lot of foliar feeding of my crop. None of the chemicals that I use are caustic and I use a commercial tank cleaner whenever I switch mixes. Nevertheless, none of them seem to last more than a season. After six months, the pressure seals are worn and no matter how long you pump, you can't get sufficient pressure. This sprayer is different. The seals are made of much better material. Most of the parts are replaceable and can be disassembled to clean. And it holds its pressure. Just pump up your sprayer and then leave it sit for a week and see what happens. With this Smith model you will think that you just pumped it up. No pressure loss or clogging. Best of all, they have a trouble shooting guide enclosed and an 800# with live people to help you with your questions. It can't be beat!

I disassembled and easily reassembled the air pressure pump to see it was well lubricated with petroleum jelly as recommended in the instructions. The hose fit tightly to the container without a leak. I filled the container with a gallon of white vinegar, 1/2 cup of salt, and two tablespoonfuls of Dawn detergent to make an English Ivy killer spray. The spray head reached the places to spray to 15 feet and the container emptied after 5 pressurizing pumps. I then rinsed the container with water and filled it halfway with water to pressurize and flush the hose and wand until the water was gone and poured out the small amount left. The hose picked up almost all the water from the bottom of the container, I emptied the container to store the container with the wand upside down in the box so no water sits in the container. I foresee no problems with it in the future.

Substantially cheaper than the local shop. Arrived very quickly and took a few minutes to assemble. It comes in a good sized box with simple instructions. The top handle is very durable and has a solid locking latch. This container pumps up to maximum pressure within 3-10 pumps and it is good to start spraying. You get good coverage with the nozzle, so I found it great for my 400 sq ft gully that was overgrown with weeds. I especially like the fact that it gets nearly every last drop of spray out of the container due to the length of the outlet hose inside the drum Have tried this with glyphosate (Roundup) and several other herbicide products. All of them sprayed well and did not clog. Normally, glyphosate blocks nozzles, so this did surprisingly well. Much better value buying concentrated chemicals and diluting them yourself in this sprayer. I recently bought pre-mixed Roundup from Lowes and my weeds went brown for a week & came back twice as strong! Those pre-mixed retails packages are far too dilute and the silly battery operated spray handles are far less effective than this manual pressure system. Very happy with this sprayer.

We have purchased 3 of these sprayers for removing rust on driveway (from well water sprinkler system), pest contol, and spray for ticks near the woods by our backyard. They do a great job. They are heavy duty, thick plastic. The spray is consistent. The handle is easy to grip. We have owned 1 for about 1.5 years and just purchased 2 more. I buy these over the more inexpensive one because it can handle the heavy chemicals without deteriorating or clogging. It is also easy to clean. I would recommend this for any hard chemicals!

Greetings! So..if you like to apply your bleach/clorox/liquid chlorine via spray then you already know it will work for awhile in a conventional bottle sprayer setup, however...unless you clean the spray mechanism meticulously....next time you go for a squirt you will probably at best get a dirty, rusty stream of partially disolved springs and seals! Enter this purpose built Bleach and Chemical Sprayer....load her up with Clorox or liquid chlorine,,,screw the pump assembly onto the large plastic throat....give the pump handle a few pumps...how many depends upon how high you filled the plastic tank..fill it very high and you won't be able to add much compression as I am sure you know..you can't compress liquid..just the air above it! So do a half fill or less...pump about 5 to 10 pumps, adjust the spray nozzle for stream, spray or any combination between and off you go. I use it to bleach my pool patio, ridding it of any mold or mildew which might have occurred. The wand makes it easy on your back and you can get a 2 foot swath of spray coverage which helps to make short work of any expansive areas you want to coat with the liquid. I don't leave the caustic mix in the tank for any extended period of time as I am sure it will find something to corrode if there is any metal whatsoever within the pump assembly...it's a closed unit so I don't know what exactly is in there. what I normally do is to either fully spray out the contents of the tank or alternatively, return the bleach to the container it came from....then I rinse the tank with clean water, pump some of the water through the wand to flush out any of the caustic bleach and then just let it air dry out. I have owned one of these in a previous residence and using if for similar purposes it never failed! I fully expect this one will perfomr admirably as well! Light weight, empty anyway....Easy to fill, empty, pump and spray....sprayer Nirvana!

This is a much better sprayer then I expected for a measly 15 dollars. A lot of the credit goes to its being manufactured in the US instead of that other place where most things come from. An instruction sheet written in an easy to read and follow format is included. Assembly is a cinch especially if you are careful to install the attachments carefully so they are not cockeyed, especially when attaching the hose to the container. If you pay attention to this simple task and do it properly there will be no leaks. If you initially run a test with plain water and there is leaking you will probably find that the attachment was installed cross threaded and not making a solid seal. That is something that is easy to do so be careful. The other attachment is a nozzle which provides the ability to control the type of spray you want to use. I prefer mostly a moderate width spray but sometimes I need to reach an area that the spray can't get to and I can reduce the size of the spray all the way to a stream which increases it travel length. Very convenient. The pump handle is used to carry the unit, open the top for filling and as the means to create the pressure needed to spray. Pumping is not difficult but this is a one gallon container so when it is nearly full there is not much space to build up pressure so a little extra pumping is required. I rarely have the need to spray chemicals so I was not wanting to invest a lot in a chemical sprayer. It was a pleasant surprise to find a unit on Amazon that works this well and costs so little. Works well. Costs little. Made in USA. What more can you ask?
