works great in yard
I love this product! I use it a lot in my yard, and it is very helpful. This product arrived on time, and in new condition. I would agree that it is definitely worth the price if you are out in the yard like I am a lot. It has saved me lots of time and energy and I could not recommend more.

My Scotts Turf Builder Mini Broadcast Spreader Works Perfect....
After reading the reviews, I cut two 8" diameter pieces of cardboard and used them to cover the inner wheels. I loaded up the hopper with weed and feed and worked my lawn per instructions. This little machine works perfect. The feed handle has a strong spring action but that's exactly what I want. I want the feeder door to completely close nice and tight when I release the feeder handle. This is a great little machine. Thanks to Scotts and thanks to the people who wrote the good reviews. I recommend this broadcast spreader.

Die weeds!!!
Worked as advertised to weed n feed the lawn this spring. Sure, there are bigger, badder, more expensive units out there. Probably some cheaper ones too. But this is a good middle ground product that works well and won't break the bank. At least for me, I wanted the super awesome one, but it's something I'm going to use 2-3 times a year. I have a nice large lot lawn, so in not trying to coat the countryside. This was the "just right" model and worked well. Cheaper than the hardware store and in the door in 2 days on prime shipping. Seems sturdy. Should stick around awhile.

I thought I might not like the smaller size but I do
When my old unbranded broadcast spreader died I researched for quite a while before I decided to buy this one. I have used this once and it was easier to use than the old one. I always use Scotts products to fertilize my yard and I always had to calculate what setting to use for the old spreader. This one is much simpler since the settings to use are the ones on the Scotts bag. This is easier to push, too. I thought I might not like the smaller size but I do. I would rather stop and refill twice as often and push a lighter weight.

Best deal out there for a broadcast spreader. Period.
Before I bought this, I borrowed the bigger version of this model from my sister that costs about 50% more. Although that model has a larger container space (meaning it holds more fertilizer/seed, thus fewer stops to refill are needed), the broadcast spread pattern is essentially identical compared to this model. With this model, I only have one single refill stop needed to cover my 1/3-acre lot - which is the same number of stops as with the bigger, more expensive model. Why? Because I completely fill this model to the top twice, while the bigger model gets completely filled once and partially filled once. With the same number of stops, the same spread pattern, and 50% less cost, this is by FAR the better deal! I couldn't be happier with this purchase! A further, self-explanatory benefit, is that it takes up less space in the garage, which is at a premium in our house. So far, I have not had a problem with fertilizer building up in the wheels and dumping out to cause burn spots - but if I do, I'll just use the pie tin fix described in another review. I don't consider that to be a problem at this low price (and high functionality) point. Full disclosure: there is a further structural difference, which is the edge guard. They both have one, but the bigger model allows you to control it from the handle bar, whereas with the smaller model you have to adjust it from the base. However, I do not use this feature (I just fertilize a few feet away from the edge, which reduces the number of passed I need in the first place this saving more work), therefore such a difference is completely meaningless to me. But if that is an important feature for you, at least you'll know the difference.

a very easy fix is available
I found this item to be perfect. For those who complained about the product collecting inside the wheel and then dropping off creating burn spots, a very easy fix is available. Sure, it would be nice if the manufacturer made a solid wheel, but that would increase cost of production (more plastic) and shipping (more weight). To fix the issue, take the left wheel off (depress the two little buttons and slide the wheel off the axle), then press an 8" aluminum pie plate against the hub to make in imprint. Cut out the hole, slide the pie plate (curved AWAY from the wheel) and wheel back on the axle. Then use a mallet to gently pound the pie-plate flat enough so that it clears the bearing, and you have created a cover for the inside of the wheel. I just used mine on grass I had thoroughly wet down, and had no problem at all with fertilizer clumping inside the left wheel. I am a 76-year-old female. ;-D HTH.

Have had spreaders in the past and they were more of a pain than good. So I am happy that this one is holding up and works well all the time.

I loved this product
I loved this product. It has varying dispense session easily holds about 5-6 pounds of cetepede grass seeds and similar. Easy to roll it around. I find this product quite useful Side note: Amazon is not necessarily the lowest priced place anymore for anytime so please search your local store before buying it from here. I found local Walmart selling this for 50 cents less but since I am prime customer I will get 5% back so it works better on amazon.com sometime.

Great!
Great for the price. Like the edge guard though I think it may be overspreading to the area it is spreading to when you do that. I guess its not wasted at least. The smaller tub means its easier to push around and it still only takes me a few fill ups and our lot is just shy of 1/2 acre for most types of lawn treatments depending on setting.

Comes assembled, and works great!
Great spreader. It comes assembled, which is a nice bonus. I bought this to replace one that I bought from a local home improvement store. The other one took me well over an hour to put together and then it didn't work very well. I returned it and bought this one. Opened the box, raised the handle, and put some fertilizer in - I was spreading it in less than 5 minutes. It works great and spreads nicely. The EdgeGuard is a neat feature as well. Very easy to use, and it has held up great over 2 years for me.
