• EASY TO INSTALL. No cutting! No splicing! This trailer wiring harness plugs into existing factory wiring on your vehicle and equips it with a standard 4-pin trailer wiring connector for plugging in and towing a trailer.
  • STANDARD CONNECTOR. The 4-flat trailer wiring can be used to connect trailer taillights, brake lights and turn signals. 4-way trailer wiring is popular on a wide variety of trailers, adding versatile towing options for your vehicle.
  • VEHICLE-SPECIFIC. This vehicle-trailer wiring harness is designed for select models of the Subaru Forester, Outback, Outback Sport and XV Crosstrek, ensuring the easiest possible installation and the most reliable wiring connection.
  • RELIABLE POWER. This 4-way trailer wiring harness is built with surface mount technology. This type of circuitry generates less heat, optimal light intensity and durable performance.
  • DUST COVER. To promote long-lasting use and weather resistance, this 4-pin trailer wiring harness comes with a rubber dust cover. It easily fits onto the 4-way flat connector when not in use, protecting it against the outdoor elements and internal corrosion.

So easy to install a hitch harness when it just connects to the original harness with no splicing. The hardest part was pulling the side trim panel out of the way. Once I did that the connector on my vehicle was easy to spot and connect this harness to. I put the ground on the screw for the cargo net tie down so did not have to drill a new hole. Good harness at a good price.

The installation on a 2015 Outback is pretty easy with a few tips. First off, once you remove the bottom panels from your cargo compartment, also remove the left front tie down loop. It is right behind the left rear seat position. Pull the plastic piece in the middle of the ring to open, then remove the bolt with a 10 mm socket. Once you do that, if you look through that hole up and to the left you'll see the white connector plug. That is what you need to pull down in order to plug the connector in. Removing the tiedown makes it much easier to locate and remove since there are two loops of blue tape holding that connector wire up behind the trim. After that, it's just a matter of attaching the ground screw and locating the adapter box wherever you feel it would be out of the way.

Installed this morning in about 30 minutes. Would have been quicker but I watched the wrong video on YouTube, and was confused by how to remove one interior panel. Once I got the right video, wrapped it up in a few minutes. Simple installation, though the printed instructions alone aren't likely to help. Watch the Curt or eTrailer video for the year of, or nearest your vehicle. Only takes a couple of tools; a socket or wrench to remove the positive lead on your battery (the black one), I recommend a panel removal tool so the push pins holding the interior panels on aren't damaged, and a drill or driver to sink the ground wire into the body metal. Everything else is included in the packaging. I also recommend the Curt 58261 4-Way Flat LED Connector Tester to test your work, and for down-the-road trouble shooting. Especially if you don't own a trailer to test it with. It's only a few bucks more. Real happy with the harness, the ease of installation, and the options it affords.

I used this on my 2013 Subaru Outback and it was super easy to install. It took longer to remove the cargo area floor panels then it did to hook up. Something I did differently was run the 4 way plug down thru my spare tire area. All I had to do was cut a little slit in one of the drain plugs and fish out to the hitch. The recommendation is to run the wire out of the back hatch when in use but to me over time opening and closing the hatch on the wire could cause problems with shorting out. Running it thru the drain plug in my spare tire area allows me to have easy access when i need it with no worries about the plug pinching in the hatch. Hope this helps someone else who might be in the same situation.

I installed this wiring harness on my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, and it was very easy because the Crosstrek has a handy plug (behind the rear left tail light) that simply plugs into this wiring harness. I then ran the trailer-end of the wiring kit out through a plug that I sliced through. It was a very easy install, and I have a full video of the installation online as "Trailer Hitch Install on 2016 Subaru." I was most impressed that this wiring harness plugged into my Crosstrek perfectly. No splicing needed.

This was easier than the instructions even said it would be. I have a 2019 Subaru Forester Touring model. All I had to do was to remove the trim piece that runs along the rear hatch lock U connector. It was held in by four hidden plastic trim clips. Just pull straight up and it pops right out. It is also best to remove the two clips that hold the moulded hard foam floor piece on the left side next to the rear tire. After that you can reach up under the plastic trim panel towards the back of the panel closest to the hatch opening and rubber moulding. You should feel a cable running there and it has a connecter wrapped in a pink tape. Remove the tape plug the cable ends together and ground the white wire. Use a couple of tie wraps to secure the cable and put it all back together. I checked it all out with a trailer light checker and all was well. Now all I have to do is find a 2" inch class III hitch for the Forester. I guess I have a case of the cart before the horse.

Makes it easy to install the wiring. You will have to pretty much empty the back end to get to the socket to plug it into but it is easier than hooking into the lights. Comes with a converter box to make a 4 connector work with the Suba's wires. As with all of these converter setups, including the factory original, you will find that your trailer lights are dim. Replace them with extra bright LED's and you will get nice bright lights.

Had U-Haul add a hitch with 4-way wiring harness about three years ago and we noted on a different jetski trailer the left turn signal / brake light wasn't working, so I thought OK, it's a older trailer and I was planning to replace the lights with LED, so replacing the wiring wouldn't be that much more to do, however we noticed on a second trailer with LED lights the problem still existed. Bought a 4-way tester and found the wiring harness with adapter/connector was faulty. Replaced with this unit and things are working once again! Not sure what caused the "black box" to go bad since we always disconnect before launching or retrieving the jetski. This model works on Subaru, so make sure you get the right model for your vehicle.

Works great. Very quick install. We installed this differently than posted on etrailer. The ground wire was bolted to the existing hole that's used for the metal plate behind the trim. The module and the fuse was set inside the styrofoam so that if we needed to change the fuse or troubleshoot, we could do so without having to remove the trim.

Easy to install. I've never done a single things with a car before and I did it while watching the installation video found on another seller's site. I have no skills and still managed this. One note, you have to put your hand up under the cargo trunk side paneling to pull down the car's plug The fit is impossibly tight (and I'm a girl). It's not shown in the video, but it helps if you lay the back seats forward and if you have some help hold out the panel while you squeeze your hand in. The video does not say this, but if you look closely it appears the side panel has been sliced a bit to be abel for the mechanic to fit his hand under side panel. I didn't have to do this, but would have if I hadn't had done the things above.
