I purchased this for our small above ground pool. For the cost, it has exceeded expectations. We've had it for about a month now, and it is still holding up. My children (who can be a bit wild) have been using it and it has stood up to their test. The extension works great and the pole is more solid than I expected. I can get to the bottom of the pool from the edge with the extension. The netting is solid. The weak point is the plastic where the net connects to the pole. It is flexible there, but has not broken.
I'm using it for a ten foot by 7 foot garden pond so it's actually the perfect size and sturdy enough for this small space but would not recommend it for anything much larger. It wobbles...
You should see how badly my old one got before I busted for a new one. I get this new one and I can't believe I deprived myself such a great tool for easily maintaining my ponds. I picked up all the pine needles in record time tonight. It's made well. I'll update in a month to let you know if it's still as good then as it was opening it out of the box and using it first time.

Seems to be a great net and extension pole. I'm about as tall as our above ground pool- 5'1 so having a lightweight extension so I can reach is important. We have a saltwater pool so hopefully this will help extend the life of this net too. We will order again when we need more supplies. This came the next day with Prime-thank you!
The pool at my condo is surrounded by trees and is always full of leaves and debris. I wanted a cheap skimmer that would be easy to store in my apartment so I could do a quick clean up before swimming in the pool. This fit the bill perfectly. The handle is collapsible so I can store it outside discreetly and without taking up a lot of room. It's easy to carry with me to the pool and is sturdy enough so it does a nice job of fishing out any junk that might be floating around. I wouldn't recommend this for regular pool cleaning because it's small and fills quickly but for my occasional use its perfect.
Works great. Small size is perfect for my elderly parents as they skim the top of pool for debris while in the water. A flick of the wrist is all you need to clean out debris out of net. No banging on side to get stuff off! Like other review previously mentioned the attachment pin is weak and plastic so don't be overly aggressive with this model. We found The telescoping Handel to be perfect length in 4foot pool depth whike in the water. This is not the one you can stand in the side and reach everywhere best use is while you are skimming while IN the water.
Great skimmer with good quality adjustable aluminum pole included. I have used it for a couple weeks for 10 foot metal frame pool and it works great especially for the price! The skimmer wobbles a bit on the pole but it is secure and works very well. It seems to be made with a high quality plastic and the pole is good quality as well. I have not been hard on it but I have not been gentle either, I walk around the pool fairly quickly and skim the pole on the surface and use it to stir up debris from the bottom so I can skim it up as well and it is holding up very well. Wal-Mart wants $18.00 just for the skimmer part without any pole! Do yourself a favor and order it and save $20.00, instead of having to buy a separate pole that may or may not work.
When I purchased this item I was concerned the handle was not going to be long enough since my previous skimmer had a 8 ft fixed handle. I have a 8x24 foot pond and was concerned It would be difficult to reach everything. When I received it I found the 4 foot length is just the handle itself and the net adds about another foot. I can easily reach the 8 ft across to get to whatever is in the pond. Since the pole is retractable it makes it easier to handle for items that are close as opposed to dealing with a fixed 8 foot pole and storing it is much simpler. I would definitely buy it again,
Ordered this skimmer to replace one bought at WM last summer. In comparison this skimmer net seems both larger and more sturdy. The telescopic pole is handy, and well made. It is much better made than the pole on the WM model. The net can be removed from the pole that comes with it and placed on a standard 20 foot pool pole. This is a nice feature. It means you can both use the net from outside the pool to retrieve items out of "normal" reach, and when this net wears out, you can replace the net only for use on the shorter pole. The mesh net is tightly woven and well made. I bought this to skim flying ants off the water's surface and with this tight weave, it works perfectly. Both the net's plastic handle and the telescoping pole are much more sturdy than the WM skimmer net on a pole. Best uses: Above ground pools for item retrieval or skimming within four feet of the edge when you're outside the pool, skimming the water's surface while in the pool, attaching the skimmer net to a standard pool pole for extended reach. Con's: The pole that comes with this net maxes out at 4 feet. If you need a longer reaching skimmer net and don't have a standard pool pole that telescopes to 20 feet, you might want to get one. Conclusion: This product does what it is intended to do and seems durable. I feel I got a good buy with this purchase.
at this price point & prime shipping I'm very happy. Just have reasonable expectations. I grew up with a pool, and no, this isn't the best version of a skimmer available, especially for a large pool-- but at this price its pretty darn good! we have a large stock tank for cows and it drives me crazy that I cant dump and scrub it daily like I do with other animals water containers. so I got this. it works great for this purpose and I would guess it'd work well for the small pools that many people in my area have, you know the blow up above ground pools/kiddie pools, hot tub, backyard fish ponds...etc of the like. if you have a really large permanent pool, or in ground pool, don't expect this to cut it as your only skimmer. it removes larger debris well but there is always some fine dirt that escapes it. I'm overall totally happy with the purchase so far. if it doesn't hold up reasonably well, I will come back& edit the review...

I grew up with a pool, and no, this isn't the best version of a skimmer available, especially for a large pool-- but at this price its pretty darn good! we have a large stock tank for cows and it drives me crazy that I cant dump and scrub it daily like I do with other animals water containers. so I got this. it works great for this purpose and I would guess it'd work well for the small pools that many people in my area have, you know the blow up above ground pools/kiddie pools, hot tub, backyard fish ponds...etc of the like. if you have a really large permanent pool, or in ground pool, don't expect this to cut it as your only skimmer. it removes larger debris well but there is always some fine dirt that escapes it.
