This is definitely one of the best book lights I've seen! It is very lightweight and distributes a relatively even light across the entire Kindle 3 screen (there is some intensity drop-off at the bottom of the screen, but there's still plenty of light to read with). I have a $60 lighted leather Kindle cover that I love, and this actually lights the page slightly better and for much less money. For myself, I still use my Kindle cover, but the Kandle, along with a Kindle WiFi and Acase leather case all made for a great birthday gift for my nephew. He's delighted. The only drawback to the Kandle is the somewhat pricey lithium button cells. Many products ship without any batteries, but I already understand why the Kandle ships with two sets--you'll need them. . . and soon. The Kandle's design would be greatly improved if it included a built-in, USB-rechargeable power source. IMPORTANT FOLLOW-UP: Perhaps my original criticism of the limited battery life should have been directed specifically at the batteries and not the Kandle. While the two sets of batteries that shipped with the Kandle lasted for about ten hours per set, we are now getting much better use from the Energizer 2032 cells I replaced them with! Currently, we have more than 15 non-consecutive reading hours on the same set of batteries and the Kandle still burns brightly. In my estimation, 15 hours of reading in the dark gives us several weeks of total reading time, a ratio I can live with quite happily. I now give the Kandle a full five-star rating.

I've read a lot of reviews on a lot of book lights when looking for a light for my Kindle Keyboard. I decided on the Kandle, and have not been disappointed at all. Rather than write a long review, I wanted to touch on some specifics: 1. Yes the light is not as bright at the bottom of the page, but it is more than readable. If one adjusts the angle of the lamp, it provides plenty of light. 2. Yes, the Kandle needs to be clipped with some adjustment. If you clip it all the way down, it will cover part of the page. But if you adjust it accordingly, it stays in place with no problem, and lets you see the whole page. 3. It comes with its own screwdriver and two extra batteries. 4. It is plastic. If you drop it, it will break. This is just how things are. I do not see this as a drawback. A titanium encased Kandle would be more trouble and more cost than it's worth. All-in-all an excellent buy and an excellent value that has allowed me to enjoy my Kindle in situations where, in its absence, I would not be able to do so.

I got the kandle earlier this week and have used it 3 or 4 times with my Kindle 3 at night while reading in bed. Overall, I'm very happy with the quality of the product. Pros: *Very bright, & provides ample light to all parts of the Kindle even in total darkness. *Battery life seems good so far. I've used it ~4 hours so far & its still going strong on the provided batteries. *Clip holds firm on bare kindle without scratching, or it clips to a leather case just as well. *Extremely light, and doesn't add a ton of weight to the bare kindle. *Adjustable with 2 pivot points to provide a brighter concentrated, or broader lighted area. *Compact and comes with a soft pouch to carry it in. *Comes with 2 sets of batteries. Cons: *Requires a screwdriver to change batteries. (screwdriver is provided, though) *Uses less common 2032 watch batteries. *I wish it had a low and high setting as its almost too bright in pitch blackness. *A tad expensive. The main thing I wanted was a good clip that holds steady without damaging the Kindle, and something that isn't too bulky and that provides enough light to read with ease. This definitely fulfills those requirements and the cons are minor. I'd definitely recommend this light for the Kindle 3.

Our family pitched in bought my mother-in-law a Kindle 3 for Mother's Day. I snagged this little light at the same time since I know she'll appreciate it when reading in a dim room or in bed at night. The package arrived today and I got everything set up for her. Thanks to the low power consumption and LED diodes, this book light uses button batteries; that makes for a compact product that's extremely lightweight. I think about how clunky my old Mighty Bright book light is with its four heavy AA batteries and extendable arm housing a flashlight bulb. Compared to the Kandle, that thing's a behemoth. I like how compact this light is, even when clipped on the Kindle and opened so the arm containing the two LED lights is extended. The clip mechanism that holds the light to the Kindle is strong, plus it has cushioning on it to improve grip and to protect the Kindle from scratches. This light folds into a compact bundle that fits into an included black velveteen carrying bag. Two spare batteries are included, along with a mini screwdriver used for accessing the book light's battery compartment. Great design -- try it out!

I just received my Kandle yesterday. So far I think it is an excellent little device. I read that some have problems with the light switch turning on by itself, I am not sure if it has been changed from previous versions but mine seems very sturdy and I doubt it could turn on by itself. I think that it is great that it comes with batteries installed and an extra pair of batteries also. It is also nice that it comes with a little pouch for me to store the device plus the mini screwdriver and extra batteries. I am using this for my kindle touch and I do not have an issue with not being able to see the bottom of the screen. I think the build quality is great for what it is, it is kind of a lighter cheap plastic but it isn't flimsy and I appreciate that it is light because it is going to be attached to my kindle. Some other devices use 3 AAA batteries which I think just adds too much weight to the top of a kindle. I'll leave it as five stars for now and will change it if I start to have issues with the LED itself or any other issues.

Folks, This little light is just about the best thing since sliced bread (so far as book lights go). It is not heavy, it provides plenty of light. If you seem to have an issue with the bottom of the page/reader screen being a little shadowy, experiment--I personally clamp it to the right side of my Sony PRS-900bc (don't clamp the cover with it) and it works great. It lights to entire screen and would probably do the same for a book page. I tried some of the "snake" lights and such, none of them work like this one does (even though some of those are quality products also). Ozeri/Kandle (whomever)designed this very well. It has gripping pads to help it not slip, the light can be positioned just about any way that it would be usable on the page. If you are looking for a good booklight, this is it; particularly for my eReader. Packaging was secure and shipping was quite fast for the standard shipping selection. I really don't think you can go wrong here folks, just remember that it is a piece of electronic equipment and they do occasionally malfunction--if you have never had this happen I would like to know your secret. P.S. my light came with two sets of batteries, one installed and one set in a little plastic bag.

I love to read my Kindle with no cover or case whatsoever- just the naked Kindle- and I was having a VERY hard time finding a light that stayed on the device without slipping and sliding all over the place as the Kindle does not have adequate space for most lights to get a good grip. A lot of people gave the Mighty Bright great reviews for Kindle use, but I suspect that those people are using the mighty bright connected to some sort of cover or sleeve. The mighty bright would NOT stay put on my Kindle at all, I couldn't roll over on my side without the whole light swooping and falling or almost falling off- very annoying. The Kandle hooks right to the top of my Kindle and does not budge because it has a nice, wide grip- I can even shake the Kindle from side to side (just to test the grip!) and the light doesn't go anywhere! It lights up the screen very nicely, I have absolutely no problems seeing the bottom of the page as other reviewers have mentioned. I love that I can open it all the way for lots of light or close it a little bit to lessen the flood of light if it is bothering my sleeping husband. It's a great, great light. The happiest I have been with a light for my Kindle!

After reading somewhat mixed reviews i still decided to give the Kandle a try for my Kindle keyboard 3. The product itself is very good and serves my needs perfectly. I had previously bought a belkin clip on light but i didn't like that for me to not get glare i would have to position it at an angle which would then getin the way. I didn't have this problem with the kandle. pros: - lightweight - small and very portable - 2 lightbulbs (which gives a nice wide spread of light) - can put it on thee top or even on the side of the kindle - bright light (but not so bright that it seems unnatural) - the clip has a soft foam material (so i don't have to worry about it scratching my kindle) - Good grip keeps it in place - can use it over a cover (mine has a silicone cover and it works perfectly) - adjustable light angle cons: like some users have stated before, the light does seem to not be completely uniform throughout the screen, but to me it's not a big deal since the difference is minimal and it doesn't really bother me. I have read in complete darkness and i can read perfectly without straining my eyes Extra: the one thing that stood out for me the most was not just the product itself. My Kandle came with extra batteries (it already has some in so you can use it right away) and a tiny screwdriver for the tiny screw in the battery compartment when you have to change them. it also came with a small carrying pouch so you can take it anywhere while keeping it protected. These may seem like little things but to me it shows that they wanted to try hard to please their customers which is a big bonus in my book. I have tried other more expensive lights and have not been as satisfied as i am with this product.

Let me start by saying that I love my Kandle! Part of that love is I love my Kindle that I have used for the last 3 years. When watching TV at night I am able to read my Kindle with the Kandle book light and it doesn't distract my husband. We love to spend time in our tent trailer, up camping and at night around the fire or curled up in the trailer I am able to read in complete comfort. I had to purchase a new Kandle because I misplaced my old one when we were up camping. My husband and I both have Kandles for our Kindles. The battery life is great. The only time that it was necessary to replace the battery was when my husband put his away, with the light still on for a about a month. I know that there are now paper white kindles but they can be distracting the people around you and so far the the paper whites do not do Audible Books. In addition when using the backlight it reduces the battery life on the Kindle. With the Kandle, battery life of the Kindle isn't effected and the Kandles battery life is exceptional!
