• HIGHLY VERSATILE. This multi-use trailer hitch ball mount equips your vehicle with two 2-inch hitch receivers, one for towing a trailer and the other for mounting a cargo carrier or bike rack
  • DEPENDABLE STRENGTH. This ball hitch is constructed from strong steel and the bottom receiver is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds GTW and 350 pounds TW (limited to lowest-rated towing component). The extra 2-inch receiver is not for towing a trailer
  • READY TO TOW. Hitching up your trailer is easy with this 2-inch ball mount. It has a 2-inch x 2-inch shank to fit virtually any industry-standard 2-inch receiver
  • CORROSION-RESISTANT. For long-lasting use, this ball hitch is protected with a durable powder coat finish, easily resisting damage from rain, dirt, snow, road salt and other corrosive threats
  • EASY TO INSTALL. To install this class 3 hitch ball mount on your vehicle, simply insert the shank into your vehicle's 2-inch hitch receiver. The rounded shank makes installation easy. Then, secure the shank in place with a hitch pin (sold separately)

I was having serious debate as to which dual receiver extender to buy. Looking at some others and what appears to be catastrophic failures I almost went out and bought the materials to make my own. But, before I did I went with the Curt as it's an actual brand name there would at least be some quality control. That being said I knew I made the right decision as soon as I felt the weight when I picked up the package. This thing is beast. The tongue is solid square bar which extends about 3" into the receiver tube. The receiver tube had holes drilled in on the sides which were filled with weld in addition to the rear part of the receiver tube being welded to the tongue. The two receivers as well as the horizontal extension are 3/16" steel. Also, as one can see, both receiver tubes have the lip reinforced. Lastly, this item came with a hitch pin with clip (behind that sticker you see on the lower receiver in the product pic). I'm actually not planning on towing anything, just going to mount a bicycle carrier on top and a aluminum cargo carrier on the bottom. I now feel I can drive worry free knowing that I won't have to look in the rear-view mirror seeing cars dodging bikes and scattered clothing on the highway.

I purchased this extender to piggy-back a bike rack onto a luggage tray. The most difficult part of purchasing this was determining how far it would extend past my Buick Enclave rear bumper. It fit just fine, and indeed handled both the bike rack and the luggage tray well. The only difficulty, which had nothing to do with this extender was trying to figure out clearances needed when opening the rear door. These extenders come in various configurations and it is the purchaser's burden to figure all of this stuff out. The bottom line however, was that the quality of this hitch extender with the piggy-back receiver was of extremely high quality. The buyer will not be disappointed.

Allowed us to bring 3 bikes along with our pop up. Warning, bikes are back quite far. I had to remove propane tank cover for this to work.

Used for this for a specific need where I need to connect two trailer type devices. I attached a tow bar to my 42 foot disk, but when I try to backup, the tow bar rotates, and simply raises or lowers the entire dock. I attached a trailer hitch winch to the other hitch opening, and tighten the dock to the hitch, this allowed me to back it right into the river.

I bought this because I have the Swagman 5 Bike rack and it would not clear the (31x10.50x15) spare tire on my 2003 Jeep Wrangler TJ. I have mounted a Curt Man. class III tow hitch just for hauling bicycles and a cargo rack, nothing more as my Jeep is a 4 cylinder and cannot tow anything much larger than an empty garden trailer LOL. Anyway, it works perfectly for this and allows the bike rack pole to clear by about 4". The top piece is about 2-3" below the tire also and the tailgate clears it and will still open with it in! This piece is BUILT extremely well! Also note, the piece that goes into your receiver is a SOLID hunk of metal, NOT hollow! Curt does it again with a super nice, well-made piece of equipment!

This gets 5 stars because it seemed strong and sturdy on my car. Great idea, but not as practical as I'd hoped. I returned it because the bike rack I bought to use with it did not work well on it. It might be obvious, but before buying this you need to consider the construction of the rack you intend to put in the upper mount. The extra 6-ish inches can be a bigger issue than it seems. (This was the problem I had. The mast on the bike rack I ordered was taller than it seemed in pictures, and that extra height was a deal breaker.) Wider racks and/or platforms are likely to interfere with the hitch on the lower mount.

Works great for those who want to put a Thule bicycle rack (Ts classic and Pros) on a Jeep Wrangle unlimited with spare tire. The only thing is you will have to put it upside down. Only downfall is this receiver feels like 50 lbs, At least its built tough and from America.

Was looking for one of these, thought this one looked a bit wimpy in the pictures but, because I already own several Curt products and know better, I ordered it. Just before midnight, Thursday. Price was good, and the vendor, Trends Auto, provides free shipping which was good because this was not eligible for my Prime shipping. Because I was in a hurry to get it, I sent Trends Auto an email asking that they ship quickly. I received a prompt reply promising they would do what they could, got it Saturday morning. Now, I often get packages from Georgia to my home in NC and they always seem to arrive super quickly so I'm not sure that Trends Auto bent over backwards but at the very least they sure didn't mess around either. Thank you Trend Auto employee. Just to be clear, I did not pay for or ask for expedited shipping ... shipping was free and all I asked for was a little consideration. Got it, like I said, the very next day, Saturday. As for the receiver extension, it is heavy duty as hell. Much more so than one would think given the tendency for these to be used by someone towing and at the same time carrying a bike rack. Top quality with respect to the welds and finish. Fair amount of space between the top and bottom receivers, more than appears from the pictures. If you have a winch bolted to a receiver platform, which is how I'm going to use it, then THIS is the dual receiver extension to get. Included is a heavy duty pin and clip ... something I missed when reading the ad. Again, don't be deceived by the picture, any discussion of bike racks, or the posted weight limits ... this is a very, very heavy duty piece and I have no doubt I could break or bend a dozen pins before I break this extension. Once again, EXCELLENT product, Curt, and EXCELLENT service first time out, Trends Auto. Edit 4/7/12: Used a 8500# winch to pull a tree, roots and all, onto a car trailer. Root ball was 5-6' across, the whole thing pretty much used up the trailer. Heavy, heavy, heavy. Had the winch on a hitch platform and the platform in this dual extension. Back of the dually was wrenched over, the trailer was groaning like it was gonna break in a hundred pieces, winch and this piece and the hitch were twisting back and forth. Winch maxed out a couple of times. Not a problem ... this Curt piece took the load. Plain and simple. Great product.

This was super useful. We have a bike rack and small storage rack. Using both was impossible without this product. Works like a charm. It's clearly well built based on the weight and finish. Be careful not to exceed the rated load though. We're always aware of this as we load items and our bikes.

Perfect for my use case. Wanted to have a cargo basket in the bottom receiver and a load extender in the top one. This goes on the front of my truck when I have a fifth wheel attached so I can carry the family bikes and kayaks. Fit and finish of the product is outstanding.
