This replaced an older unit that was rusty and had the bi-fold doors with metal-mesh type screens. This unit is clearly an upgrade in design. Here are my quick thougts: * Make sure the swing of the glass doors is unobstructed if you are buying this. The whole door stake more space to fully open, * The swinging screen door is just perfect. Not a single spark has "popped" by it, and I am about 3 cords of wood use on this unit since install. * VERY easy to install. No masonry/drilling required. Everything you need to install this unit comes in the box. * Measure your fire box opening carefully. Mine was just inside the parameters to fit (but it did, like a glove!) * Excellent build quality and sturdiness. Feels and looks like a quality piece. Cons: * For me, there was not enough fiberglass insulation in the box. I would have preferred more to offer a greater barrier. I wish I bought this unit years ago. Gives my fireplace a hugely updated appearance and functionality.

Really nice fireplace doors

Arrived safely. Packaging was solid. Instructions were easy to follow and installation was easy. Would have been nice to have a second set of hands, but I pulled it off alone. The problem is that when you open the doors the front is heavy. Not a big problem. The only thing that was a problem with the product was that one of the brackets that requires a screw had a hole that wasn't threaded. I probably could have contacted the company, but I opted to go out in the garage and tap it myself. I had the tools and it took me about 10 minutes. I didn't think it was worthy of knocking them a star. The doors look great.

Great quality, watch video for easy install

I installed this two days ago and am really happy with the purchase. Note, I haven't had a fire yet or used it extensively, but so far, it's great. The package arrived in perfect condition and well-packed. The quality of the materials seems very good. I have a 33" vertical opening on my fireplace and the medium with the riser bar fits great. Before you purchase and definitely before you install the doors, I would strongly recommend watching the video that shows the install. I watched it a few times to make sure I was measuring correctly before I ordered and so that I had a sense of how the installation worked. It was a big help. It also helped me figure out how to correctly measure the lintel, which was important since I wouldn't have ordered it if I thought I had to do the alternate install. During the actually assembly and install, I watched the video as I did each step, pausing while I worked. This is one of the easier products I've assembled (vs Ikea furniture or kids toys), and I'm not particularly handy (at all). The construction of the doors seems very sturdy. It's also installed very securely in the fireplace and doesn't wiggle or wobble or anything. Instructions for installing the riser bar aren't included in the video (they are included in the written instructions), but it's super easy. So don't let needing the riser bar deter you.

First thing first, for those of us who have fireplaces with small openings - these will fit even smaller openings than specified. My fireplace opening is only 28.5 in wide and 24.5 in tall, and this door fits perfectly! Very easy installation, almost all thumbscrews, took me less than 30 minutes to install. Removing the old one was a different story... very adjustable, fits all different sizes. Fairly modern contemporary look, great quality, same if not better quality compared to big box stores. Got two of them. Packaging was superb, I was worried a bit with large panels of glass being shipped, but they packed this thing so well. Highly recommended.

Excellent fireplace door at reasonable price

I installed this door on my fireplace last weekend and have been extremely satisfied with my purchase. The exterior face and hearth of my fireplace has black/white swirled marble so I was looking for something other then the typical bright brass doors. After looking around for awhile I came upon this on Amazon and took a chance since the price was about half of what I expected to pay. The doors installed very easy (took me about a hour) and it absolutely tranformed the look of the fireplace. Prior to installing these doors we had just a fire screen so I was always very reluctant to use the fireplace due to a concern for losing warm air all night with the flue left open. After installing these doors I was able to close up the fireplace (once the fire died down)and not be nearly as concerned with wasting money up the chimney. We only use the fireplace for aestetics (verses home heating) so these fireplace doors made my fireplace much more functional and the doors look great. The quality of material was reasonably good as well. Doors and glass hange straight and have a solid feel. One installation tip is to use some of the fiberglass insulation that comes with the doors to help seal around the outer edges of the screen to get a good tight fit against the front face of the fireplace. I tucked this in with a butter knife so nothing shows. It would have been helpful if the manufacturer provided an extra quantity of insulation for this purpose. It mentions in the instructions that more fiberglass "can be purchased at your local hardware store" - REALLY? A few pennies more of extra fiberglass would have been helpful. Other then that slight anoyance I'm very happy with this purchase.

A very nice product

High quality, easy to install, clear instructions. And it looks really good. What else could you want? Oh yeah, the packaging was very good too. I was a little worried about having a glass door product shipped through UPS/FedEx but the company packed these so well, it was an unfounded fear. I looked at the local stores first (due to size & weight) but their prices were SO much higher and they didn't look as good as this. I am very glad I went with this.

This door is great! Well build

Got this during my living room remodel to replace a old brass beat up bi-fold door. This door is great! Well build, way easier to load wood into the fireplace, glass and screen swing open and shut nicely. Give a clean finish to the fireplace. Have burned all winter and think I've only had to wipe the glass down once! Great product, well worth the price!

Looks good. Works as expected.

Watched the video on how to install before we purchased. When it arrived I was busy and had my 16 year old son assemble. He had it together in under an hour. I did have to give him a few pointers from the video. Recommend watching it. Overall it makes my fireplace more usable and my living room warmer. I was having problems with downdrafts. Very happy. I bought one of the Amazon slightly used units. It had some minor scratches on the top that are only noticeable to me.

Bought to replace a 40 year old fire screen. Well packed, well shipped, good price. I had to cut my surround a little to make this one fit. Make sure you get the right size, or slightly larger in my case. It was the most of a single day project cutting stone and installing just right so install is not for the DIY novice if your rough opening is not very near the exact dimensions of the fire screen unit. One tip is to make sure the install is totally perfectly square at the end to assure perfect door function and perfect magnetic closure. Measure twice cut once! Quite happy with the final result for the price! Will likely get a second matching one for the other fireplace when the time comes.
