Runs small, excellent shoe!
My daughter wears an 11, but all of her previous tap shoes were purchased in the next size because they typically run smaller. I order these shoes in a 12 & they were too small. I contacted the company who was more than willing to exchange with a larger pair. I received the 13 today, they fit with a little room to grow. These tap shoes have an elastic band that runs across the top of the foot, under the bow. This is what you want! It provides extra security & keeps the shoe from flopping & getting loose as they dance. Plus it is well built shoe with more flexibility in the sole than others I’ve had experience with.

The medium width works fine in our case
Size up 1/2 size. I followed that direction after measuring the feet myself and following the chart carefully. I then sized up. The just they fit perfectly. They do not have room for a growth spurt but they are a correct fit. The medium width works fine in our case, however, if your child has wider feet it may be a good idea to choose a wider width because they do seem a little narrower than standard shoes. The shoes are Capezio, which is pretty standard and they are sturdy and comfortable (according to personal feedback).

Nice Shoes - Order up at least a size and wider.
I ordered two pairs in two sizes for my 4 and 6 year old daughters. Upon reading reviews that said to order a size up, I decided to order a size and a half up to give some growing room since I don't want to re-buy these in six months. I got the wide size and I think they're still about the width of a "regular" shoe - although I typically buy wide for their everyday shoes. Naturally, a size and a half is a bit long for them, but I just have them wear thick plushy socks, which works well because the shoes look like the "breaking in" process would be uncomfortable. So, while the shoes get broken in, they can wear thicker socks and when their feet grow, I'll give them thinner socks to wear with the shoes. The shoes look nice. I'm not a tap expert, but they sound good to me. My 4 year old was a little skeptical about the tapping sounds upon first trying them on, but she tends to be cautious with new experiences, then follows my 6 year old on whatever they're doing. I'm sure she'll get used to it and enjoy it.

Great purchase...would definitely buy again!
These are absolutely adorable! You can't tell from the pictures provided but there is a piece of elastic that runs under the cute little ribbon tie which can be good or bad. For me, my little one's foot has a very high arch on the top of her foot so I purchased these thinking that I can tie them and they won't be so tight so in my case the elastic was to my disadvantage. The good part of the elastic is that it prevents the shoe from coming off in the event that the shoe comes untied. All in all the elastic stretched well enough so that my daughter could still wear them and look so precious on her little foot. I would definitely purchase these again.

Cute little tap shoe
These tap shoes look exactly like the picture. After reading some reviews i order a size 10m for my daughter. She's between a size 9 and 10 in street shoes and in my opinion has fairly skinny feet. She was able to slip right into these and still has some growing room. I also like the elastic at the top you help keep them more secure. They seem to be made well and she loves them.

Everything You Need In A Tap Shoe!
These tap shoes are perfect! We are on our second set of shoes. Capezio is a dependable brand & one I trust (I was a dancer for 10 years). It’s a great quality shoe will hold up for your tapping toddler. I love that there is a piece of elastic to hold the shoe on their foot vs just depending on the ribbon to hold. You could even skip using the ribbon if you want but it does look cuter with. I purchased one full size bigger than what my daughter wears. For example my daughter wears a size 8 in regular shoes (Carters, Cat & Jack) & I purchased a size 9 for her. They are a little big but will last her longer. Going a size up does not effect her dancing or walking in them. A few things to know when buying tap shoes 1. They should have a rubber grip at the ball of the foot. Cheaper tap shoes do not have them & your toddler is more likely to slip. Most dance studios recommend this too. 2. Black is the classic color the one I recommend buying. They will more than likely be required to wear black shoes for their dance recital. 3. Do not let them wear them outside. They are not made for outside & can create a lot of wear on the shoe & taps (same with ballet shoes). Also, your toddler will probably want to wear them at home (at least mine do). Please know that these shoes are very, very slippery on tile & you will need to hold onto them. If you have carpet, they will be fine if course. You should be fine with wood floors too but do hold onto them until you know for sure.

Nice shoe for tap lessons
Perfect fit! Just beware parents. Your child will have to learn how to walk in these due to all hard surfaces being slick. 7/18/2017: My toddler daughter wore these till she grew out of them. What I will share from one parent to another is that the ties would often get lost and need to be found. Her new shoes don't use a tie, but a velcro strap that works SOOO much better and they are easier to get on, but these were nice and after a couple wearing my daughter learned how to walk in these and TAP TAP TAP away. thumbs UP!

Remember to order up a size and in wide
My daughter has a normal sized foot (not wide, not narrow) and her toes run kind of straight across the top. They do not taper upwards. Her street shoe size is a 10. We ordered this tap shoe in an 11W and it fits her nicely - almost perfectly. She has a slight amount of room at the toes - maybe a half size. Most reviewers tell you this and I'll say it too - these shoes definitely run narrow! If I had ordered these in a regular size, my child would have never gotten her foot inside of it!! They look lovely and the bow is adorable. I was worried about it not staying tied but so far that has not been an issue. I've attached a picture of the tap shoe against a size 10 Sketchers play shoe for reference.

Great dance shoe!
I read other reviews and sized up. My daughter's normal street size shoes are a 7 so I got an 8W. She has very narrow feet and the W actually fit her perfect (I was worried it would be too wide) but I should of only gone up a half of a size (7.5) from her normal because the 8 has a little bit of room - which could be good in case she has a growth spurt before her recital (4 months away). I do really like how there is elastic underneath the lace to hold the show in place.

Capezio tap
My daughter is 3 and wears a 10.5 regular shoe in toddlers. So I ordered an 12M thinking I need to size up and have some room to grow but these 12M were HUGE! like 3 inches too big. So I returned the shoe and exchanged it for an 11M, and again the 11’s ran huge as well by like 1.5- 2inches, so I returned the shoes and got a 10M. And unfortunately the 10 fit length wise but we too narrow. I’m so sad bc now I have to return these and request a 10.5 W. HOPEFULLY I they will fit and I will be satisfied bc I love the shoe, and amazon is great with shipping a new shoe quickly.
