I find myself using this quite often. Mostly for measuring and marking. Also works great as a set up tool, such as setting the height of a router bit in my router table. Same for the blade height on my table saw. Even though it's mostly plastic, it's well made and I am sure it will last me a long time. Happy with my purchase, would buy again.

I love this tool and many of the other tools in the Kreg product portfolio. I keep this tool in my belt at all times and particularly depend in it for my trim work.

I ordered this little toy when I ordered several other Kreg products and am glad I did. Although I bought it for my wood working projects, it has taken up a permanent place in my general tool bag that I use every day. This tool is so useful that I am thinking of buying another one as a security backup. Is that measurement really a half inch or is it really nine sixteenths? With this little toy...who cares? The slide ruler is metal and held in place by a large thumb screw. Butt the tool against an edge, slide the ruler to where it needs to go, tighten the thumb screw and you can copy the measurement accurately as many times as needed without messing with a tape or other measuring tool.

Some tools set in your toolbox and hardly get used. This is not one of these tools. Seems I use it all the time. It's not a square and the level is to small to be very helpful, but it's great for offsets using the sliding scale. Very handy.

This is a simple, yet very versatile tool. My first application for using the tool was for laying out the installation of a mortise lock set on a 1 3/8 inch ancient interior panel-type door. A critical aspect of getting the throw-bolt to line up with the bolt-strike plate was to accurately determine the exact distance from the inside face of the door to the door jamb behind the closed door. The thin ruler blade fit easily between the door and door frame to reach the jamb, and the adjustment screw held the ruler firmly in place as I removed it from the gap between the door and jamb. It's a lot easier and far more accurate to insert the tool, set the ruler with the thumb screw and then remove the device to take the reading than it is to try reading the ruler when it's still in place stuck in along side the door. Because the rule slides within a rule-wide slot in the handle, the rule is held square during the measurement .... again enhancing accuracy. Bottom line: Thanks to the KMA2900 this is the first one of these (out of half a dozen) that went in perfectly without having to tweak it to compensate for layout inaccuracies when using a combination square and tape measure as I did in the past.

I never thought I'd find this so useful. In just the past few weeks I've used this to quickly set the overlap distance on a roof shingle. Set it against the fascia and slide the shingle to touch it to make a perfect measurement every time. I also used it to set the depth of a piece of drywall to patch a large hole. The wood supports had to be set back exactly the depth of the new drywall piece. I set the depth against the drywall piece, moved the tool to the wall against the outside of the good drywall, then placed the 2x4 supports at exactly that depth of the new drywall piece. Screw in. Then place the drywall patch piece over the 2x4 supports and it fits perfectly flush with the wall.

I bought one in 2014. Very useful and accurate enough if you are not making a Swiss watch. Like the guage for setting the reveal on window and door casing. Carry it in my tool bag always. For first time buyers i would be skeptical about the one star reviews.

Couldn't survive without this tool. It is just super useful, especially when you need to repeat the same measurement. I highly recommend it and have several around my woodworking shop. It's that handy!

Having read other reviews before I purchased it, I was completely satisfied when I got the tool. It serves as a compact torpedo level, a decent depth gauge / marking gauge, and a "quick and dirty" square. A small combination square is a more versatile tool if you get a good one with a level that you can trust. But a good combination square from Starrett is quite expensive, and it will take up much more space in your tool pouch. I only use the tool with the blade in the depth gauge position. I do not think it is worth fooling with to reorient the blade to the 90° or 45° positions. But I understood that when I made the purchase. I carry a speed square in my pouch for 90 and 45 anyhow. I felt that the tool was worthwhile for the depth gauge/marking gauge feature, and for the level. For the amount of money, and the small amount of space it takes up in my pouch, I am pleased.

The unit has ""one"" blade that is held in place by a knurled know that screws into the unit. I like it very much, however if someone wanted to switch from the 45 to 90 degrees it is necessary to unscrew the know and move the blade. Normally that would be no big deal, however there would be some times when speed is more important and might take longer than a hyper person would like to invest. It is still way up in the 5 star stage.
