• Laser engraved dial for accuracy
  • Constructed from durable engineered plastic
  • Direct read from the work to your miter saw with two easy to read scales

Well made and works as described. Accuracy is great but not perfect. I would estimate that it's off by about 1/10° (see photo's) which is more than accurate enough for trim work.

Since every corner is not an exact 90 degree this protractor gives you the exact degree to make you inside and outside corner a perfect fit . Its even better when you have an odd angle wall . Easy to understand and use . Just put it over your outside wall or push it in to your inside wall and you have the exact degrees to set your miter at or just lay it next to your miter saw and line it up with the blade . Cut and nail

I have been remodeling our home, found that the crown molding was not going in very well. It seemed that none of the corners were very square, making it impossible without this tool to get good looking joints. After purchasing I found that now I can figure out the true angles to be able to set up my miter saw to get great looking joints on my molding.

Nice that the scale marks single cut and "miter" cut angles (divide the angle by two since you cut half the angle on both pieces for miter cuts). Big dial is necessary to keep the markings visible and discernible to older eyes like mine. A great Starrett tool that, being plastic, is unaffected by humidity (like wood ones) is rugged, can survive being dropped without denting, bending (like metal ones) or throwing it out of alignment.

This, indeed, is made of plastic. That said, as accurate as I can read the device, it is right on. I think you can easily read this to 1/2 degree, which is sufficient for finish carpentry. Your ability to cut is no better. Those who complain about inaccuracy should get over it. If you think you know better than Starrett then simply include the offset you think you measure.

If you do or are going to do trim work of any kind, if you are even THINKING about doing trim work, crown, base, door WHATEVER..... get this tool. Even makes an idiot like me LOOK like I know what I'm doing ! Seriously though, money well spent, very happy with this purchase.

Wanted this tool to help me get the angles for a box type valance on a bay window. It did the job and the best part was that it told me the angle at which to set my saw for the mire cuts. At the same time it told me the setting for the part that met the wall. Those two settings are on an inner and outer scales of the tool-one measurement, two different cuts! As a novice I thought that the guage was quite accurate and the pieces matched very well. Unfortunately, other parts of the execution of the project were faulted. The tool itself needed to be tightened substantially in order to maintain the measurement but that was easily done with the "screw" on the backside . Well worth the price for me

Yeah, Baby! For someone who is poor at Math, Geometry, Angles, Numbers, Fractions, and general Calculations, this is a god-send. It will make me look smarter with my sympathetic and doubting family and friends. And isn't that what it's all about? This will save me hours of head-scratching and a LOT of money on wasted wood. The first time I used it I knew I would be hiding it from my neighbor, as that scoundrel will surely borrow it and forget where he got it.

this is a nice tool , it figures out the correct angle need for miter joints , it takes out the old (2) part (2) tool method , i recently saw a contractor use the larger version to make a unknown angle miter cut , with no effort , the miter was correct no gaps , no need to caulk the joint excessively , some times these unknown miter cuts take a few trips back n forth to the saw , if you actually have a conscious about your work , even if it is getting painted , some guys would probably laugh @ someone using this protractor , but really wishing they had 1 ! unless you have a laser protractor installed in your eye , doing crown moulding can be a little tricky , that is if a caulking tube isnt one of your most used tools

I was frustrated with this tool at first because it was so loose and it was difficult to keep the measurement in place for enough time to read it etc. I then realized that there is a black plastic screw on the back that can be tightened. After I tightened the screw, it kept the measurement far more easily. This is a great tool that we plan to use a lot while finishing our base boards.
