Great Product!
So far it solved the problem I was having with my CJ jeep that has the AMC 304 engine with an Edelbrock intake and Eldelbrock 1406 carb installed. Problem was it would crank fast when it was cool but take up to 6-8 seconds when hot. I could not even touch the carburetor due to it being so hot. Now since I have installed the spacer I can place my finger on the carburetor and it's just a little warm at best. The engine will crank very fast too even after it's warmed up to its normal temp. Installation was very easy too. I'm very happy with this purchase and recommend it to anyone having the same problem I was having. It came with everything you need spacer, nuts, washers, studs, and two gaskets. I did not use any type of sealant. Removing the studs took the longest amount of time to replace. Using the double nut suggestion from another review did the trick. Don't forget to check the space between top of breather and hood before slamming the hood shut and check for any leaks from fuel line.

Easy Install with No Leaks
Easy install. No leakage. I don't know if it truly helps as I changed my crappy, old carb with an Edelbrock 500 at the same time, but it sure doesn't hurt. My truck starts superbly even in the hottest August weather. (The new carb helps!) If you are having hard starts in hot weather, this is HIGHLY recommended. I got the 1/2" one and it works well while maintaining enough clearance for the hood to close. It is worth a try because it is cheap and easy to install. I had to buy this online because all the local parts stores said there was no such product and they had never heard of such an item. While, this statement doesn't help explain the quality of the product, availability is important to know; don't let know-it-alls mislead you.

A necessity in hot environments
I have installed 3 of these, usually on hot rods that I have owned. The kit makes installation easy since it comes with longer carb studs and 2 new gaskets. No sealant is necessary. The typical installation problem is removing your existing carb studs - they oxidize themselves into the intake manifold and often need to be double-nutted to be removed. This 4 hole model maintains proper manifold vacuum to the carburetor for street-driven vehicle drivability. I would avoid the open chamber models. This part can help hot-start problems, (especially in hot weather), from gas in the carb vaporizing, but check your under-hood clearance too. Sometimes the throttle linkage needs a tweak to line up correctly. And while things are apart, verify that your carb is really at wide open throttle when the gas pedal is floored. Interior carpeting can cost you power.

Impressive
Works better than I expected it to. Had an aluminum one before, but the wood helps with restarts. Using a laser thermometer it usually shows a 50-60 degree difference between the carb and the intake after reaching operating temperature.

if you have a spread bore manifold like I do
I have a 79 C3 corvette with performer (spread bore) intake manifold. Have edelbrock performer carb model number 1400. To install this, you'll need the edelbrock part 2732 (or something similar), if you have a spread bore manifold like I do. ALSO, you must reduce the height of your setup, so get this air cleaner (JEGS 50021). And don't use a butterfly nut, just use a slim normal nut, anything you can do to reduce height. Corvettes have clearance issues. The reason you need this spacer is to prevent your gas from boiling when you park your car and run some errands, and come back, and your car smokes and runs horribly. Edlebrocks need to be insulated from the heat of the engine. If hood space isn't an issue, I would have gotten the 1" spacer. Hope this helps someone. Took me a bit of scouring the net to find the right setup for me. Thanks.

BEST upgrade yet!
I had a problem with my 1986 c10 with a 350 and an Edelbrock 600 carb dying on me while sitting in traffic for more than 5 minutes. I also had what seemed to be unrelated idling issues, running rich, low torque power in lower RPM range. I was able to route vacuum lines correctly, adjust timing properly but was still having some issues. Since installing this spacer, I have no more issues! In fact my truck starts right up after hot stars where before it would take some feathering of the throttle! Excellent product!

Better low speed manners with performer cam
The 4 hole spacer improved low end and highway speed manners considerably compared to the split plenum spacer on my ford 289 with an edelbrock performer cam and intake. Also, after installing this, I had to lean the idle mixture. So, presumably, it should get better fuel economy.

Keeps Carb Much Cooler
My carb is much cooler with this insulated spacer. It fit perfectly and I have less concern about the carb getting too hot and having a fuel vaporization problem.

Stop the heat soak
Worked great on my chevy 350 with edlebrock intake and edlebrock carb In Arizona so a must have to help with heat soak

Did the trick!
I was having hot start issues, some hesitation issues, erratic idle problems. This 1/2" spacer cured them all! My car runs like a dream now. No more readjusting This and that"s.
