Great machine but NO DVD :(
Just opened the box, (and read the manual) I did NOT locate the DVD for this particular model. I have an older model at my Mom’s house. Wanted to buy the Professional 5 thread model, but had to stay within a budget. Watching a few YouTube vids also & practicing. Pretty EASY for beginners.

I like it!
It's my new favorite toy! I have cats who think all the string is theirs so I had to watch a video in order to learn how to thread it but after doing it a dozen times I've got down to a science. I wish there was more room to maneuver my sausage fingers in the under carriage but it is what it is.

So fun now that I taught myself to use it!
I love this machine!!! I kept putting off trying this out because I have a new baby in the house and I knew I would need to devote more time to trying this out than I could really give it at the time so it sat in its box until after the holidays. I had a plan to use this machine for quite some time and I finally decided it was now or never. Late at night, while the baby was fast asleep, I went ahead and read the manual for the Pro Finish. The next night, I went ahead and plugged it in and gave it a try with a piece of scrap material. I was so excited when I was able to say I finally edged my first piece. The machine came pre threaded which was incredibly helpful. Knowing which thread did what on my finished piece is what made me finally understand what was happening since each of the 4 threads were different colors and color coded to the machine. So the 3rd night, I changed the thread by following the instructions in the book, I learned that you tie on to the existing threads in order to change colors and pull it through which is so much easier than rethreading from scratch. I surged 12 burp cloths in about 35 minutes and my machine started smoking. I realized I was running it just a little too fast for a little too long. Tonight when I edged a blanket for my husband that I have been promising to do for a couple of months now, I took my time and ran the machine at a normal steady pace and it did not overheat at all. I love this machine so much, my entire family will be getting new blankets for Christmas this year. I purchased this product for full price.

Sews Great, Good Value
I really like this machine, but it is a little loud. In fact, I saw a Singer video and even they said it would be louder than a regular sewing machine. I did misthread it once. No matter how much dialing I did on the tension, it had no effect. Turns out the thread was just laying on top of the tension guides. I didn't pull the thread down deep into the guides. It sews like a dream. Get it here on Amazon and not at a big box fabric store or you'll pay too much.

Arrived Yesterday + Here's What's What
Arrived yesterday on time. Open up box this evening. I attached photos to show you what's inside. Date of purchase December 2018. You could also see how much thread is on the spool of each color. It's more than other brands give you. As far as re-threading, try to follow what other videos show. You just attach to a previous threaded spool, turning the tension to zero, use manual wheel turn + stop before you get to the needles. From all the reviews + every video, I could not see before I bought it exactly what it came with it for others who wondered the same question. Everything seems to be there. I've done several tests on it for sewing. Obviously the suggested tensions are just guidelines. Sergers are not intuitive. It's going to take more time to figure this out for the tension to be correct. You have to read the paper manual that comes with it to figure out the guidelines for the sewing tensions per thread/spool. It does come with a DVD + I have not watched it yet since I just set it up this evening. I watched many YouTube + Singer online videos before I bought it. The manual reads as technical information. Sigh. Just like all Serger manuals. I have used sewing machines for many years. Sewing is not new for me + I've used a serger before - lightly. Sergers certainly are a different bird to figure out. The other reviews of this machine are scary to read. I am hoping I made a good choice. It certainly is affordable. Time will tell. I've always been a fan of the brand Singer. I just bought another very nice Singer sewing machine that was not bottom of the line. This serger, tho it has mixed reviews, is out of the box as it states in the basic information. I have done quite a few tests serging with it + change the tensions as per the manual + it runs as to be expected. I don't know why people say it is noisy because every serger I've ever seen or used is noisy. My only complaint is to take the free arm off is not easy at all. Each time I tried to take it off it takes me quite a few tries. I don't plan to take it on/off much anyway. Re other return reviews -whenever you order anything from anyone, you should always take it out the box + check it out before the warranty or the return period is over. If you wait beyond that then you really don't have reason to complain. That's why they give you a set time. I plan to make use of this serger over the next week, for gifts, clothes + house old items. I did pick up the 3-year Amazon warranty. It was not very much money + I figured it was a good safeguard.

Great machine, great price!
I purchased this machine to replace a Brother 1034D which i was having issues with. That was my first serger.. The first thing I noticed about the singer was how quiet it is. I went through the book to acquaint myself with the new machine. It came threaded so I was able to start serging right away. I was excited to see I could do a rolled hem and tried it on a scrap piece of material. It was beautiful. I like how easy it is to change from single needle to double. Each needle has it's own screw. It is easy to go from rolled to strait serging. So far I am impressed with this machine. I have yet to thread it but after the Brother, how bad can it be. The book had some very good hints as to the tension on each thread. I have used it on bags in which the material was fraying. And to attach the interfacing or fleece. Nice job! I would definitely recommend this machine to first time users.

BOUGHT AS A BACKUP; NOW IT'S THE MAIN MACHINE
I purchased this machine as a backup to my Singer QuantumLock 14T957DC, a 5-thread combination overlock, chain stitch, and coverstitch. It was getting a little long in the tooth -- still running fine -- but I wanted to have a backup. Also wanted to set up one machine to do the 2-, 3-, and 4-thead work while the other was set up to do the more advanced work. I have had the Pro Finish machine for about a month and it is fine. I had a little trouble with setting the tensions because it was set up for woven fabric and I was working on a ponte knit. I finally got the tensions set to look as good as the woven sample. My older machine has a little container to catch scraps and this one does not. Also, I wanted to remove the throat plate and found that the screwdriver included could not access the back screw. I tried a short screwdriver from another machine, along with other things, and still could not reach it. I would advise anyone who purchases this type of machine to be sure to have a stubby screwdriver on hand, just in case you ever need to do some maintenance or cleaning of the unit. A stubby is less than 2". Other than that, I am very satisfied with the performance.

Love it
I absolutely love having a serger. If you sew a lot and are on the fence about getting one, I suggest you invest the money. This machine works perfectly I am very happy with my purchase.

Excellent serger! Have never used one before or even ...
Excellent serger! Have never used one before or even seen one. It worked great out of the box. And was totally easyou to thread if u just follow the directions. I don't know what people were saying about it being so difficult. Had to sework a spandex costume in a hurry and it saved the day! And I've never done that before either. Tensioning was easy and only time it messed up was when I broke a thread (my fault) and tried to cheat re threading. When I saw it was not sewing right I remember threaded it the right way and it was perfect

Good serger with a free arm.
Nice serger. I had a Janome before and it was great but I do like that this one has a free arm. Any serger can be a pain until you get the hang of threading it. I use my long tweezers a lot when threading. I was moving the cutter out of the way to thread the needle, but then figured out it was easier to do it with my left hand and leave the cutter alone Good serger.
