I'm going to confess that I'm an old hippie and I love my Birkenstocks which I wear all day, everyday. Recently my right knee has been very painful, at my age not too much of a surprise, and was getting worse. While visiting my fabulous chiropractor I mentioned that my knee was suddenly hurting so she asked me to walk away from her and back again. "Those shoes have to go!" was her first comment. She advised me to find something with a back strap that won't allow me to walk on the outer edge of my feet (supinate). I grieved for a day or two and then got busy finding something that fit her recommendations. I ordered these in a 7.5 which is my regular shoe size and got busy trying to prove Dr. smarty-pants wrong. After wearing these for two days my knee completely stopped hurting. Not only that I love these! I can wear them to the beach, out to a casual dinner, I even played 18 holes of golf and they were wonderful! I just hose them off when they get dirty and off I go. Now, I must have more colors.....

I've been a Keen lover/wearer for a long time and truly love this brand, but I think my Whispers may be my favorite pair yet. I bought this as an "upgrade" from my Newport H2s and these are SO much better. I love that the neoprene stretches in the bit around your ankle - this made them wearable right out of the box with no break-in period and ZERO blisters. They are ridiculously light weight - much lighter than my Newports - but really sturdy and durable. I wore them on a recent trip to Costa Rica and they were the perfect shoe for all of the wet/dry activities I did, like white-water river rafting, light hiking, swimming, rappelling, sailing, walking around town, etc. They dry quickly and don't get stinky (but if they did you can throw them in the washing machine with your laundry). I'll also note that I have arthritis in my feet - specifically my big toe joint - and these were always comfy and supportive. I could keep going with no pain, which was awesome. If my feet swelled, it was easy to loosen up the lacing system. On top of all that, I got complements on them - they're pretty cute. These are more narrow and girly than the Newports. I love them so much I bought a second pair. I highly recommend these - they're great for adventures and anytime you might get your feet wet - they're also really comfortable and a great all-around sandal for warm weather. For me they run pretty true to size (I wear a 6 1/2 in other shoes and these), but I know that a lot of people like to get them a 1/2 size bigger.

Most comfortable shoes I’ve EVER put on. I’m considering buying three or four more pair just in case they ever change the style! Because, I must always own a pair of these! These shoes softly yet securely hug my feet on all sides. I feel as if someone took a mold of my feet and made these specifically for me. Despite their comfort, they feel strong and supportive. I cannot say enough good about these shoes obviously. It’s probably important that I note here that I have flat feet. I don’t wear a wide width shoe. I’m generally fine with your average medium width, however I doubt any Keens would work super well for anyone with exceptionally narrow feet as Keens are comfortably roomy in the width department. Just returned from a 5 mile hike back and forth and back-and-forth through streams, then through rocks and dirt and back through streams. I was so impressed with how wet, dry or muddy I had good traction. Also amazingly, somehow the foot bed does not become slippery when wet. The bottom of your foot is secure within this shoe! The other thing that surprised me was how comfortable my toes were going downhill. More so than my $200 hiking boots! Anyway... so WOW!

These are the perfect outdoor shoes. I use these for hiking in the mountains, hiking near the river, going out on the lake, and much more. They are comfortable from the first time you put them on. I can wear them on an all day hike and my feet feel fine at the end of the day. If you are in areas where there are snakes or more dangerous wildlife and terrain, I may say pick a different shoe that has more protection for those hikes, but for all other hikes and water excursions, these are WONDERFUL!

This is my third pair of Keen water shoes. Although these shoes are intended for outdoors--river, lake, etc.--, I wear my Keen shoes in an indoor chlorinated pool doing deep water aerobics twice a week. The shoes last AT LEAST two years this way--the chlorine fades them out some eventually, and I usually want a new color. The shoes feel very lightweight and drain water well--I forget I have them on in the water. The front part of my foot is wide (bunion), and I have a narrow heel. A nice feature of these shoes is that the lace system goes around the heel, and I am able to adjust them perfectly to my heel/ankle area. I have to draw mine up pretty tight for the ankle/heel, and the leftover cinch cord is a little long, so I tuck it under the laces on the top of my shoe, and it stays put. I also need foot support, and these shoes provide decent arch support and cushioning.

These Keen "Whisper" model sandals are the second pair that I have purchased this season. These sandals are very comfortable. Machine washable also. Many in my family wear Keens. I just happened to find a "Whisper" Red Radish model at Nordstroms by following their reviews regarding fitting a narrow foot. If you are looking for a sandal that will work for a NARROW foot, these are the ones to buy. It is very difficult to buy casual shoes for an 8 Narrow size. Could only find black color on Amazon through Peltz....a great shoe company.

Love this sandal! Bought if for an upcoming trip and they'll be perfect. Great fit, true to size, and very comfortable for someone who has a bone spur and plantar fasciitis. Highly recommend.

As soon as I revived my shipment, I opened the box and immediately put my sandals on. They fit as expected, were super comfortable. I purchased and received these just in time for our trip to the Washington coast. I have betting these everyday casually and beechcombing in sand and rocky beaches. The treads on the bottom of the sandals prevent slipping when experiencing rainy weather and dry out very quickly. I recommend these sandals to anyone.

I attached photos of myself in each. The Newport H2 is the gray one, and the Whisper is the brown shoe. The Newport H2 is more rugged in every way. Note the toe guard, the width of protection surrounding my feet, and the tread on the sole (see 2nd photo). The Whisper is daintier and more fitted around my foot. It seems, too, that my toes are visible in the Whisper but not in the Newport H2. I plan to return one pair, and here's the rub: I want the sturdier ones for nature walking/hiking and for long walks, but I feel more comfortable in the Whisper, which also happens to look better. The Newports feel a little too wide, and I think the back strap would rub my ankle (I am short, though). Both use the bungee strings for adjustment in a way that is more effective than I'd realized ahead of time -- they work like any shoe laces. Oh and do buy 1/2 size up! (Update: Decision made. I'm going to keep the Whisper based on comfort... I wore them out and felt great!)

Best shoes I've ever had-and I'll be 81 next month!
