This is a great size board. I followed the directions of seasoning it with oil when I first received it. I did use my hand to rub the Boos Oil that I purchased separately, all over it as the board was very dry. I propped it up so both bottom and top had a chance for the oil to sink in and left it over night .I have seasoned it twice since then, each time seven days later, just to be sure. I have enjoyed the quality of the board, how easy it is to clean after use and the fact my knives stay sharper than the other boards I used to own. Yes, this cost more than most cutting boards but I know it was worth the cost. I expect to use it for many years to come.

I saw a similar board at Bed, Bath and Beyond by John Boos but it had round corners and it just didn't seem like the same quality but I could be wrong. I am really glad I ordered this one on Amazon. This size is a great option for my small kitchen. I do a lot of cooking but I don't have a lot of counter space. I also like the weight of this board. Heavy enough to give stability but not too heavy to lift in and out of the sink when cleaning. I put about three coats of food grade mineral oil on all sides before I started using it. This helps seal the wood and should be done on a regular basis.

Purchased the 20x15 cherrywood board. It is a joy to use and looks great! Most of the cracked/warped photos in negative reviews that I see here look awfully dry. Mine arrived appearing a little dry, especially on the bottom side. I imagine the factory oil degrades while the blocks sit on a warehouse shelf waiting for sale. I was initially very generous with the Boos oil/cream until the wood appeared very well oiled. I plan on keeping excess water/liquids away from the board as much as practical, always cleaning with salt/lemon wedges as recommended by the manufacturer, NEVER rinsing it in the sink, and keeping up with oil/cream applications at the recommended intervals. I doubt there will ever be an issue with cracking or warping.

As a 17 year Boos block veteran you need to understand there are key responsibilities for owning this magnificent addition to your kitchen. And my new block is MAGNIFICENT!! I’ve owned a very well maintained Boos block and then neglected after years of use. Sadly mine cracked after some time. With this sad experience let me relay to you what I know from being both a good owner and an eeeevil owner: 1. You do not need to buy their cream/oil, food grade mineral oil is fine, frankly any cooking oil is better than none. 2. For the first year avoid washing with water at all costs (see bullet below), and if you put it in the dishwasher, your fate will be like the rest of these reviews. 3. When you first get it - apply your chosen oil/cream EVERY DAY and with regular use. 5. Also oil it anytime you clean your kitchen. 6. For use: After you use it, clean with a scraper and oil - do not ever use water on this board- scrape the food particles and seal it - do this EVERY TIME as long as you own the board. Oil has been used to clean and sanitize for millennia - ....but if you must use soap and water (and hopefully not till after year 1) start with cold water, spray and scrape w a small amount of detergent. Rinse then immediately dry and oil. Remember hot water and detergent’s job is to remove oil - if you do this, you need to double or triple treatment after the dastardly deed. Think of it like you just dehydrated the wood and kicked a kitten....cry a small tear for the anguish you just inflicted on your new innocent dependable kitchen mate....you deplorable 5. On its 1 year bday, oil it once a month, but always clean and scrape with oil after use. 6 After year three oil it once a month or as needed

I love this board for the quality materials, quality construction, and optimal size. The surface area is all I need for my home kitchen prep chores, and the 1.5” thickness gives the board enough heft to stay put. Unlike my last model (that I wrecked by failing the maintenance schedule) this model has finger-holds routered into the two short edges. However ... DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD ... unless you are willing to faithfully maintain it by oiling it regularly. I maintained my last Boos board very, very, faithfully ... until I didn’t (ran out of oil, and failed to reorder). My board warped, then delaminated. Lesson learned. But I didn’t blame the board, I blamed ME. So I bought this replacement ... and oil it every couple weeks. I use it nightly, and thoroughly clean it with lots of water, that I squeegee-off with my bare hand, and store to dry on edge. So far ... it’s beautiful.

Husband is a professional chef so I was very nervous about buying him a new cutting board. He's picky, but he absolutely loves this. It is very sturdy and gorgeous! Make sure you keep it cleaned and oiled and it will last years! Currently searching for a way to display it when not in use.

I have a smaller Boos cutting board, that I really liked just fine. It was just that it was a little too small. This is bigger, and a lot thicker, much more substantial. When I first got it, it was really rough. I really wasn't impressed with this board, or the lack of quality to the finished product. I would dice an onion for instance, wipe the board with my rag afterwards, and now my board is left with bits of my rag. It was that rough. I've had it now for probably a year, and now it's nice and smooth. Now I can wipe it with my rag, and my rag leaves nothing behind except a clean board. My rags are standard bar towels that have been washed many hundreds of times. Did I get a board that slipped through quality control? I don't know and I'll never know. I don't care, because now it's smooth. And that's what matters. Hence the 5 star rating.

I finally purchased one of these for my home. I use it several times a day and it is fantastic! I purchased the 24 x 18". I use the same size at work and this is the size to buy in my professional opinion. If you're going to prep, you need room to work and stage things. If you're cutting up a lot of veg. you need room to do it all. I also recommend purchasing a mat to put underneath. I bought "San Jamar CBM1318 Saf-T-Grip Board-Mate Nonslip Cutting Board, 18" Width x 13" Height". It's smaller than my board, but I saved a few bucks and it works just fine. In addition I purchased the Boos oil and cream.

Excellent cutting board. Arrived in flawless condition. I have had the board for about 4 months and I have noticed no signs of cracking or warping. I use the board about 5x a week and use the mystery oil about 1x a week and I use the board cream about once a month. I think that many people may be experiencing warping because the are storing the boards improperly. The boards should never be stored standing up in say a canbinet. You shouldn leave them on your counter laying flat. This way there just even pressure amongst all the glued joints, and the risk if cracking will be greatly reduced

I got this as a Christmas/Hanukkah gift for my boyfriend. We have very limited counter space in our tiny Brooklyn apartment, and what he really wanted was a cutting board that covered the range to extend our counter space. This cutting board is beautiful, and fits perfectly over the 4 burners. I bought the butcher block board cream to go with it, which is perfectly protecting the wood. The quality is superb, and you can already tell this will last a very very long time.
