The new 2016 style WD Passport drives fit.
Yes, the new style WD My Passport drives fit. Here's a 4TB drive. The drive fits comfortably, but anything larger wouldn't. This is a quality protective case, though not heavily padded, but that would add additional thickness and make it less suiting to my needs.

Sturdy little case for on-the-go small external drive protection...
This little case is a lot sturdier than I realized after receiving it in my shipment. I was expecting a hard case to protect my external drive I have to carry around from time to time in a bag, and this fits the bill while also being durable. The zipper is nice and easy at its function to open and close the case without sticking or getting the teeth caught during the process. It's a very basic and simple hard case, the left side has a nice mesh pocket that's stitched in place sturdy to keep any hard drive cables contained in the same spot and avoid misplacing it or losing it in a larger bag. Because this hard case is pretty firm, it's not going to allow much give if you try to add too many USB sticks, cables or a mini mouse inside with the drive-- if you can close the case and zip it up with ease then it'll protect your tech gear nicely. I like how this hard case remains slim so that I can easily store it in my bag while on-the-go from home to the library. Even if you don't use this a external hard drive case, this could make for a nice small protective case for the smaller loose items in one place like USB sticks, small cords, headphones or a mouse.

Best option for basic hard drive transport and base-level protection.
As a video editor and cinematography, I fill a ton of hard drives that I often find myself needing to lug around and send out to clients. I looked at several different products that essentially work to add a little more protection to external hard drives, and after several tries, I finally kept this one. I had little luck with the silicon “skins” for the drives, due mostly to inconsistencies in where the holes were punched out for cords and the big variety of sizes that hard drives now come in. I then purchased a product similar to this but with a smoother texture on eBay for $2 less than this Amazon basics case. The eBay cases began to fall apart and were just generally of a worse quality, But these Amazon basics cases have been excellent, from the material to the quality of the zipper! The texture feels more sturdy, but not bulky. The two different types of netting/compartments in the case make it super convenient to hold both a drive and the cord, while at the same time make the case able to hold a huge variety of hard drives shapes/thicknesses, as they stay in place and secure. I’ve used these now with WD passports, Seagate backup Plus drives, an SSD and a few other branded external hard drives. These aren’t made to be shockproof, underwater, pelican-case protection mechanisms, but for those days when I need to take my hard drives with me, or in storage with archived drives on a shelf, these work to supply an extra layer between your drive and the things it touches, it feels sturdy but lightweight, and it keeps dust, crumbs, and sharp objects from your frive’s fragile cable ports. Spend the extra $2 and save the time. These are a must have for anyone using external hard drives.

My drive is a bit thicker than the Seagate Backup Plus Slim models I went for this model as it didn't have the padded partition

Very good hard case for the price Best Value!
This is a good little case. It's typically priced cheaper than the WD My Passport carrying case and that case is a soft sleeve style case vs this case which is a hard case. I have 1TB and 2TB USB 3.0 toshiba carnivo (connect and basic) and WD passport hard drives and this case works for all of them. I have several and have owned a few for some time and the zipper is still in tact and works fine. There isn't any padding but the little elastic strap and the snug fit helps keep the drive from sliding around. It also keeps dust off the drive. With the 2TB drives, the case closes more easily if I maneuver the cable such that the connector is at the top of the case where there is a little empty space between the drive and the case perimeter. My only "complaint" is that it only comes in black. I have several drives so I buy some of the other cases in different colors just so I can more easily identify drives without having to open the case to see which is inside. (I have a review of the Drive Logic DL-64, too). See the pics for comparisons of the DL 64s (hot pink), the AmazonBasic (black hard case w/blue drive), the WD My Passport carrying case (soft, black case), and an old CaseLogic PHCD case (hard case with silver drive).

Great Little Case!
The AmazonBasics Small Hard Shell Carrying Case is quite the bargain! I purchased a Western Digital 2TB MyPassport External Hard Drive. I'm willing to pay more for the HD than for what's housing it. The AmazonBasics case was extremely well-priced, and it was made specifically for holding the HD that I was getting. Into my virtual cart it went. I couldn't be happier with this case! If you look at my photos, you'll see that I was easily able to place my HD in one side of the case. It is securely held in by a piece of elastic that reaches from side to side. The elastic measures about 4" across and 1" wide. My HD did not have to be "forced" in; it sits recessed into the side of the case without protruding. On the other half of the case there is a mesh pocket measuring roughly 4" across and 4" top to bottom. I had no problem fitting my HD's user manual, the cable, AND 3 USB flash drives inside this pocket. All of these things fit inside the AmazonBasics case. The case holds everything in place, and is not "over-filled" or hard to close. This case features a zip around closure. I was a bit concerned with this, because initially, the zipper felt a bit tight. I felt that it would snap right off if I didn't exercise some caution. I suggest that you be careful not to pull too hard on the zipper, or try to carry more inside of it than it is intended for. After some time, the rigidity I felt from the zipper began to soften, and now it is perfect. I guess it merely needed to be "worked-in" a little, like a pair of shoes. This AmazonBasics case is not waterproof. It is not bulletproof. It probably won't withstand being in a blast zone, or being tossed from a trans-Atlantic airplane, mid-flight. This case is not DB Cooper. It's implied that you, the consumer, take CARE of your tech and treat it carefully to BEGIN with. You should treat your HD and other tech as though it were not encased, even though it is. With this in mind, the AmazonBasics case is very affordable, and if used mindfully, will protect your HD without a hitch.

Great protection for my external hard drive
I needed something to protect my backup drive for photos for an upcoming vacation and these looked like they could do the job. I decided to get two more cases to protect my other external hard drives as well. The build feels like high quality and I like the mesh pocket and strap inside to hold everything together. The outer shell feels durable but not in extreme cases like dropping it from high altitudes. The interior is a nice and soft fabric, it doesn’t have much depth to it for cushioning but it is fine for my use. The 2.5” hard drive paired with an

!!!!!!!!!!! A GREAT CASE AT AN UNBEATABLE PRICE !!!!!!!!! EXCELLENT PROTECTIONS FOR PORTABLE HDDs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have multiple external hard-drives, some of them are bulky and are meant to keep a backup at home. Some of them are smaller ones which I use to carry my photos and other files around with me while I am traveling or transporting data between home and office. Two of them are small 1TB and 2TB USB3.0 hard-drives. I wanted to buy a case for them. After considering a lot of hard and soft cases from various sellers, I stumbled upon this and thought of giving it a try. And it was a wise decision !!! As I always say, Amazon Basics items are equivalent (if not better) to quality in other comparable items from different manufacturers and yet they are available at almost half the price (and sometimes even lesser than that). I have many of the Amazon Basics items and I am not unhappy with any of them. And this is no exception. A few good things: 1. The exterior is pretty hard and you can rest assured that your HDD will be protected even if this case is buried deep down in the luggage. 2. Soft interior makes sure that the HDD stays safe even if there is some pressure on it from other items in the luggage. 3. This case is made for HDD which do not require an external power because there is not much space inside for any adapter. However, there is a mesh pocket which can be used to store the USB cod safely. 4.Even if its hard and durable, the case is pretty light-weight and wont ad much weight to your luggage. 5. Although its advertised for Western Digital My Passport but it can be used to store other USB powered HDDs which are up to 5 inches in dimension. I have one of these for my Seagate 1 TB HDD. 6. It also has an elastic band to hold the HDD securely in the case while in use. 7. The zipper is of very good quality and will not fail on you anytime soon. Cons: The only disadvantage I can think of this case is that there is none. If I have to count one, I would say it would have been better had they made a small zipper pocket inside the case (which would be of great use to photographers like me to also store their memory cards in it while on a trip. All in all, this is an excellent case at excellent price. AMAZONBASICS DOES IT AGAIN !!!!!

Very sturdy case
Received Passport case in one day.....very sturdy.....solid construction.....purchased to transport Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB External Hard Drive Portable HDD.....fits like a glove.....very little room to move up and down under the elastic strap.....about 1/2 inch to move side to side.....however....the four corners of the portable hard drive are firmly in the corners of the case.....so.....the portable hard drive moves very little.....1 foot cable for the portable hard drive fits in the mesh pocket with room to spare.....once case is closed and zipped up with portable hard drive inside the case.....it becomes very firm and solid.....very pleased.....cant beat the price of less than $7

Sturdy Lightweight Case
BOTTOM LINE - This case did exactly what I needed it to do for a low price. PROS - Low price - Provides enough protection for what I need it for. The case probably wouldn't hold up being at the bottom of a box with heavy items on it, but for keeping it safe around the house and travel where you can responsibly place it. I've moved to three different states so far and this has done a good job protecting my external hard drive - Includes an interior strap to secure your hard drive and a mesh pocket for any cords that go with it. Nice addition for any movement and bumps along a trip. You'll also not have to worry about it falling out every time you open it CONS - None
