Nice Modular System For Those Without Inground Sprinklers
I've used this system for years and been very happy with it, but last year put away my four-valve set-up somewhere and couldn't find it this year. Luckily I had a timer, four-outlet "ducks foot" manifold and two valves set aside as spares (got 'em in a sale), so all I needed was two more valves. Bought two of these as the older design cannot be found now. Works well with my older model timer. Had to do some fiddling at first because both the new valves I bought began in the open state (unlike the older design which have always come on-line closed). In order to get it set for regular use I put the timer in manual mode and ran it for a few seconds, then pressed "clear" to shut the valve. Did this for both new valves, which have worked properly for days now. These new design valves have a better collar than the older ones, much easier to tighten up. I find it easiest to attach the valves to the ducks foot, then attach the hoses to each valve, then attach the whole shebang to the sillcock. Doing it the other way round invariably results in at least onbe cross-threaded hose connection which will leak like mad. One hint: These gate-valves shut the water off very quickly and produce severe water hammer in my pipes. I credit this with causing at least one failure in my cold water system. If you get the same, you *could* install a special expansion "shock absorber" in your pipe-work (it uses a column of air to cushion the hammer and reduce the force) but I found a cheaper and more convenient method that requires no plumbing, quite by accident. I connected a brass Y connector before the ducks foot and attached a Goodyear 50 foot rubber hose with one of those sprinkler guns fixed to the end. I opened the Y connector's valves and bled the air out of the Goodyear hose (by washing a deck). I forgot to shut the valve on the Y connector when I was done, and when the timer started working the the sprinklers I noticed there was no water hammer (it is very loud when it happens). I had a think and realized that when the water "kicked-back" when each valve slammed shut the shock was absorbed by the Goodyear hose stretching very slightly. Job done. It has to be a rubber hose to work. A plastic hose will not stretch and will eventually split (I had a flexible Y stand-off I used once that ruptured because of the water hammer and flooded my basement, which is why I use only brass fittings now). A 50 foot rubber hose is long enough that the stretch is spread out and doesn't harm the hose.

Great value
Just added this 2 pack, making my watering much easier, dividing my yard into 4 zones with different needs, from a drip irrigation for my vegetables, to my lawn sprinklers.

Major time saver
We spent the last 5 yeas manually adjusting the on and off levers on the manifold holding the hoses we use to water the 5 zones on our front and back lawns. That way we can water each section individually with a maximum of pressure. Of course, that also meant that I stayed up half the night making the changes since we didn't start watering until 10 PM. The Orbit computerized system, and extra valve, have completely automated the process. We have it on a timer, we just make sure the nozzle is turned on, and go to sleep while the system waters and changes zones for us. We had used timers in the past but they didn't change zones - just started and stopped watering. And, after each zone, I had to reset and restart the timer, while half asleep. We also found those timers very unreliable and had to purchase a new one almost every summer. This is the closest thing we have found to owning a professionally installed sprinkler system (thousands of $). The hoses are above ground of course but all you really see are the sprinkler heads and the Orbit does all the timing and on and off for all the zones. Our lawn (my husband's pride and joy) is the showpiece of the neighborhood.

Works Great
Have been using these for years for my home built sprinkler system for our garden areas. Unfortunately I sometimes don't get my system disassembled and blown out for the winter prior to the freezing weather and I have to occassionaly replace the valves.

Fits 27752 timer, might need to close valve before initial use
Works great. Fits my discontinued 27752 model timer. Did require a little more installation than just attaching the hoses and timer because the valve arrived open. Plugging the valve into the timer and running a manual cycle fixed this, as the timer told the valve to close at the end of the cycle. Once I heard the valve click closed, I attached the hoses and turned on the water. No leaks. Can't speak for the longevity, but it works perfectly leak-free right now.

Buy new, works perfect.
I bought this new as a replacement for a used one from Amazon warehouse that was broken. This new one works perfect and was still a great deal. It has been running for almost a month now with zero leaks and turns on and shuts off exactly as it should. Will buy again when I need to expand further.

Reasonably priced sprinkler system.
I ordered 3 of these as replacement parts. The originals lasted 4 years which is fine. They get heavy usage. I still have 3 originals valves. They were set up on two 4 bib timers. The system works great and keeps the lawn in good condition. It's a lot less expensive then the $6000 that an unground system would cost.

DON'T LET IT FREEZE and it will last years!
Folks - Plenty of people are commenting on leaks. If you had a leak and you actually did what the directions told you (didn't let these freeze) then I'm sorry you had that experience. But if you brought it into your "garage" or your "shed" or put it "out of the elements in a garden box for the winter" it WILL FREEZE. I've had mine for 7 years, going on strong, no leaks, no problems, works perfectly every time...BUT I BRING IT IN MY HOUSE in the autumn. Do. Not. Let. It. Freeze. Got it? Good.

The entire system is well made and easy to program
Since I cannot afford the seven thousand dollars to install underground sprinklers, this fourth addition to my above ground watering system works really well. The entire system is well made and easy to program. It's reliable (this is my second season using the products) and I am very happy. Next year, we'll have the other side of the house reseeded and I will be purchasing another few of these.

Works great in our community garden
Works great! It's a valve and has only one job to do - which it does well, until you miss the freeze warning - but that's not the valve's fault now is it? If you happen to freeze one with water in it, it is sometimes possible to salvage them by removing the screws, completely disassembling and re-assembling. Often, the rubber diaphragm takes the brunt of the ice and prevents the housing from cracking. Just don't leave it like that all winter then try to fix it in the spring. It may be too late at that point and the diaphragm may be permanently deformed in which case you must replace the whole valve.
