So far, so good. Knock on wood.... I have this timer on my inground 15amp pool filter and it's been working like a charm. It's easy to set up, just plug the filter cord into the timer outlet and then set it. Setting it is easy. It's just a matter of moving the pins to the desired time and amount of time you want it to run. It comes with 4 pins so you can set it to run at different times twice a day. I took out 2 of the pins so my filter only runs once a day. There is an override function too just in case you need to run the filter at that moment. 2 cons... we've been having torrential downpours here and I have seen a drop or two of water in on the inside top of the unit so I'm a little concerned about that. The other con is the cord is really, really short. It's so short that the only place I can put the timer is on top of the outlet box and that's only if I use the top outlet for the timer and the bottom outlet for the filter, and it just barely makes it. I'm giving it 5 stars because it's working the way it's supposed to, and the price is unbeatable. I'll keep you updated. update... this is the second season using this one and it's working fine.

We purchased this timer for our swimming pool pump. I got tired of paying the electricity bill for it running 24/7 because we always forget to turn it back off. My teenage son and I set it up. It was that easy. Plug the pump into this timer box. There are 2 green tabs and 2 red tabs. You place a green tab at the time you want the pump to come on each day. And place a red tab at the time you want the pump to shut off. You can set up two different times if you want it to come on and off twice each day. That's what we have done. Now, I did wait for my husband to mount it in an upright position so it wasn't lying on the ground. But the "set up" was easy enough for me to do. The lid keeps it dry from rain as long as it's mounted upright. It does have a little knob where you can do a temporary on or off of the unit which is nice. Works perfectly now for a few months.

I purchased this timer when I realized our pool pump was driving our electric bill up due to me being too lazy to remember to turn it off. It ended up running 24/7. We needed something that could be outside all the time as the pump plug is a fair distance from the house. It has been running fine for 3 years now with absolutely no issues. Setup is pretty basic. Once you plug the timer it it just keeps turning all day. The ring has teeth all along it where you place the pins. Once you set the ring to the correct time you place the pins at the corresponding time you want the attached device to turn on or off. In the upper left corner is a small rotating switch. When the pins you place come around, they catch on the switch and flip it's state. This allows you to flip it on or off whenever you need. For instance when I need to backwash our pool filter I just turn the switch one click and it turns off. When you're done you can just turn it another click and it will continue on it's merry way. Durability is something to be concerned about when something is out in the weather all day long. As I said, ours has stood up to it for 3 years with no appreciable change. The color hasn't faded as far as I can tell and the plastic has not become brittle. There is no waterproofing on the bottom where the plug goes in but because it's on the bottom you don't get rain flowing to it. The cord is a sturdy thick one that probably has 12 gauge wire in it. For mounting you have a standard slot for a screw head in the back. The only thing I would say to be aware of is the length of the cord. It is at most a foot long. The shouldn't normally be a problem because you will probably be placing this between and existing cord and plug so it will be mounted right next to the receptacle. If you want it somewhere else, plan to get an extension cord. I haven't had many timers, but I can't imagine anything to be any easier to use or longer lasting. I would definitely recommend this one.

I used this timer for my outdoor hydroponic tomato garden. It controls the pump that circulates the nutrient solution. I got some extra of the little red and green plastic pieces that you use to trigger the timer on and off so I could set it for several cycles per day rather than just once. So far the timer is working perfectly.

My family was very excited to install an above ground pool this summer. We were happy when we bought it and were surprised at how much went in to maintaining the pool. There was so much to choose from, some necessities and others not so much. We decided to order the Intermatic Heavy Duty Outdoor Timer and it was a great purchase. Before we had to physically go outside and turn on the filter any time we wanted it to clean the pool and then we would have to go back out and turn it off. This timer saves you nuisance. The directions are easy to follow and the timer is easier to work. Now we just set up a schedule for the filter and it automatically turns on and off when needed. My husband thinks it's one of the best things we got for the pool. I would say it's a must have for any pool owner

I like simple and while I could have gotten a digital timer, I didn't want to have to fiddle with the thing. Basically just rotate the dial to the current time. Then insert the green pieces at the times you want it to start and the red pieces where you want it to stop. It's not exact time but it is very close and has been reliable. Changing the run times is as easy as popping the red and green pieces off and putting them back on. No messing with menus or not knowing if it actually set or not. I use this to run our hot tub pump. We run it for an hour in the morning (when I tend to take care of the chemicals) and again for several hours in the evening when we would want to use it. You can also manually override it by flipping the switch yourself if you want.

This timer works as expected for a heavy duty timer. I replaced a 16 year old one that could be programmed for the entire week, this one uses a twenty-four hour cycle. I have it turning on and off my pool's sand filter, the filter has a 2hp motor. I only use one pair of the on/off control pins. It comes with two pair, allowing two on/off cycles per 24 hour period. More control pins can be purchased. I have mine under a porch with ground-fault protection.

This timer has been switching 120vac power to my 1-1/2HP pool pump, twice daily, since 2012, 4 years so far. I've never had a problem. If I need another timer, for any reason, I'll definitely buy another one.

This is my second one of these and I love them. Rock solid and easy to program. I have demoted these to running my two dehumidifiers in the crawl space as I purchased some Honeywell Solar Timer Switches to control my outdoor lighting. I reverted to the honeywells as they auto adjust for DST and are programmable based on your Lat and Long, so no fooling around with adjusting for differences in daylight. However for the Dehumidifiers they are wonderful, and limit the amount of time they run. I can adjust the runtime with these and keep the humidity exactly where I want it.

This is an excellent, very cost-effective solution when a Malibu or Intermatic "Intermatic ML600TW Low Voltage 600-Watt Power Pack" has failed. This alternative solution was also preferable for me since the new models are a) more expensive and b) only offer the photo-sensor functionality. They do not have a manual on-off timer function using the plastic pins that are inserted in to the dial area. (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00378K8VS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1UXNA5QAZ0FA9&coliid=I2L9XAJ6N4JUOB ) The new models can be manually turned on, then off, or for a fixed time period i.e., four, six, or nine hours. The low-voltage power packs usually provide two functions, a) power to 12 volt low voltage lights, and b) a timer to control the time periods that the lights are on. If you can find one without the photo cell functionality they run approximately $130-$165. Note - on the power (transformer) side I have started spraying around and underneath my units every month. Two have failed after ants invaded the units. I have not had this problem since I started my monthly insect spraying. In my case my timer (and not the power pack) failed which caused my accent lights to be on or off 24X7. This device has a three-prong electrical connection in the base. Plug your existing power pack (with the failed timer) in to this outlet. Set the time in this unit, and use the pins to define your desired on-off time. Plug this unit in to your GCFI outlet and you're finished!! You just saved yourself about $140.00!!
