I own two of this type of can by Justrite--one a one-gallon can I use for 2 cycle mixes and this one for my other equipment. I know that metal cans do help to maintain the volatility of gasoline much better than other materials as long as the opening is tightly sealed when not in use. This can does exactly that. It is well-constucted and does keep the gasoline sealed very well against evaporation due to the strong spring that holds the cap tightly over the opening. There is no splashout while traveling as well, and there is no need for a pesky vacuum release cap that needs to be opened in order to allow proper gas flow. I like that aspect of these cans. I would suggest that if you require a can that can keep your gasoline in the best state that it needs to be over more extended periods of time, this is the can for you. Amazon made sure I received it well packaged and arriving in good time, which is usual for that company as far as I'm concerned, so the entire experience of buying and using this item should be a good one. Also, I do like the funnel that comes with this can, although the little strap connection, which holds the funnel to the neck more securely, can be a bit fragile. I broke that little part early on, but it does nothing to hamper the use of the funnel at all. This funnel already slides nicely over the neck without that little strap. I would suggest that if you buy this can, make sure you hold the can straight up over the funnel while pouring so that the flowing gas does not drip over the inside edge of the funnel. I use this funnel on my smaller can, too, because it is easily removed and fits perfectly over the neck on both. Due to its strength and great sealing qualities, I would strongly recommend this gas can from Justrite.

Strong, no leaks, easy to pour, heavy spring closed cap. Safety can made of galvanized steel with powder coat paint. Best can I found in this price class. Using it primarily for my mower, and to store gas. It is excellent for these purposes. Bought it to replace my plastic gas can that miraculously survived a barn fire.. This one is far better, safer, easier to use, at roughly the same cost. Previously I purchased the high end type 2 just rite 5gal can and really like it, but wanted a cheaper option. This fits the bill nicely. Mine has no issues reported in other reviews such as painted cap cork, dents, vapor leaks etc. My suggestion; purchase one. I will be buying another for sure.

Of the several EPA supposedly leak free gas cans, this is the only one that actually seals fumes from escaping when transporting inside a car. I buy high octane ethanol free gas for this metal can. After transporting, the can is not opened for several hours to preserve the high volatility small alkanes. This can actually traps the valuable high octane fumes. Hopefully the cork seals well long term. The pouring is kind of challenging. Go slow.

When you live in the country, or the suburbs for that matter, you have need of a gas can-- for the lawnmower, chainsaw, etc. The plastic ones you are likely to encounter in your local big-box or hardware store have evolved a bit over the years, and not for the better. "Safety" concerns have given us nozzles that require more agility than I have to pour, twist and push at the same time. I am about twice as likely to spill gas using one of these--where is the safety advantage? Also, prices have gone up to the point where the typical plastic 2.5 gallon gas jug will set you back $20, and then again when you have to buy another one because the nozzle broke..... I saw these Just Rite galvanized cans here on Amazon, and the price was pretty good, especially for what it turns out is a lifetime investment. This thing works so well, and easily, and is so well designed-- my sister-in-law thought it belonged in the kitchen, on display, instead of in the garage! I bought 2 sizes and am totally pleased. Can I gave it more stars?????

I have searched long and hard to find a decent gas can that could both pour and not fall apart during hot and cold swings. This can takes the cake! I have actually bought three of these because they are metal, pour quite fast despite not having a vent, and are made of metal so they should last many years of "consumer" service. I say this having used these type cans at job sites, in shop environments and now at home. Pros: Funnel does not get in the way of filling and is easily removed for filling a vehicle- use a different funnel though; this one is top heavy when filling vehicles. Can seals very well- no gas smells even when filled in the morning and sitting in the sun all day- no leaks either. The can will safety vent before exploding as is stated in the product literature. The plastic ones always seem to split under these conditions. No pun intended. Funnel and pouring scheme work for fuel tanks both large and small- you can pour too fast and fill the funnel faster than it empties causing spills if you are not careful. The funnel flips out and locks to aid in pouring. Galvanized steel with a flawless red powder coat finish. The funnel is the only plastic part on this can. This will last many years. Has a built in spark arrestor - this is good as I can see in theory how a flame might be able to travel into the can under the right conditions. This has a safety device to prevent that from happening. OSHA and NFPA approved. These are the cans you WANT on your job sites Cons: Dirt accumulates easily in the funnel- funnel is not covered and on a windy day dirt visibly accumulates in the funnel. Removing and storing it could solve this issue There is no "good grip" on the bottom of the can when pouring. Rather you grasp the can by the slightly recessed bottom and hold on. This gets tiring when filling a vehicle, man-lift, or any other application where you are pouring the entire can at once. The spark arrestor makes it hard to visually see how much fuel is left in the can when filling. I stop filling when the pump clicks off. I suppose all metal cans suffer from this issue.

These gas cans are on job sites all over the country, for a reason! Absolutely the best cans money can buy and at a reasonable price point. I've some of the plastic cans that have been completely over engineered that quit pouring after little use and end up in the trash. This can will last a lifetime and its super easy to use. If you're looking at the reviews just buy one. Or get one of the eagle safety cans. Pretty much the same, never fail made in the U.S.A. gas cans.

Ready to use right out of the box. Packaging was well done...arrived in great condition. Snap on plastic fuel spout works well, with no drips due to the positive closure of the hand operated stopper.. Really like the tensioned (spring loaded) stopper for passively allowing gas fumes to vent without having to pop open a separate vent. I would buy again!

This is a great fuel can, I'm a general contractor and always keep fuel in my vehicles for an assortment of tools and equipment, that said this can takes a beating and holds up to the task quite well. Never leaks a drop, it's easy to fill equipment without spilling everywhere and it was a great buy. Thank you amazon for the awesome deal.

I first bought an eagle can and really liked it, but it makes me nervous with a plastic handle. Also, I have to take the funnel off each time to fill it. Not with the Just-rite can! I can fill it with the funnel still on and the handle is metal. Definitely the better can!

Love it , love it, love it. I grew tired of those crappy plastic gas containers and their sticky, poorly designed spouts that either break or just become unusable. or they way they "puff up" when the air is warm and the liquid is still cool requiring you to vent it "Carefully". Not to mention the slender, top heavy design which makes transporting most of those cans a pain. I had a HVAC guy doing some work and he saw it and asked where I got it. Spread the word I did: "At Amazon". He said he was ordering a few when he got home because he didn't think they made metal cans anymore and he really liked it as well. Hopefully the last gas can I need to purchase.
