Used it on a 2004 Chevy Impala with a leaky head gasket. The car would use up coolant and overheat after about 20 - 30 miles of driving before needing to have more coolant added. I was skeptical, but the cost to replace the head gasket was way more than the car was worth. So, I had nothing to lose except the cost of purchasing this product. After following the instructions, it appears to have solved the problem - for now. I've driven the car about 500 miles since treatment and it hasn't overheated yet. As far as I can tell, the coolant level in the reservoir hasn't gone down at all either. For my situation, it was worth a try and it seems to have paid off.

No misfires after about a week and 350+ miles. I have a 2010 Toyota Prius which is notorious for head gaskets going bad by 200k miles, my car has 190k. I started experiencing all of the symptoms for a bad head gasket; random misfire on startup, loss of coolant, poor performance, low mpgs. I'm a handy guy and could replace the head gasket but the time involved is a bit much for me right now. Per the directions on the bottle, I dumped in half of the bottle and let the car run until it hit normal operating temp, which for my car is 195F. According to the instructions I also needed to run the heater on high and high fan setting, but with the fan on high the car could hardly warm up properly. I had to set the fan to low after about 30 mins to get it to hit 195F. Once the car got a little over 190F that's when I started to see the product move around in the reservoir. I think this is a very important step, make sure your vehicle idles long enough to get the product circulating before turning it off and letting it cool. After it cooled, I started it up (with no misfire!) and lightly drive for about 15min to get the product moving around a little bit more. So far with normal driving (75+ miles per day) I have had no misfires on startup and slightly better mpgs. I will post an update if I need to add more of the product, or it fails.

Let's face it, if you're considering this you're looking for a 'Hail Mary' in a bottle, and this product offers exactly that. I put this into a 2000 Subaru 2.5l Forester. This engine has over 230,000 miles and is suffering from either a cracked head or block following an overheating situation due to failed head gasket. This was the third set of gaskets on this particular engine, and if you're familiar with Scoobys this should come as no surprise at this milage. Unfortunately didn't catch the gaskets this time before engine damage. Engine was showing several error codes including showing 4th cyl no longer firing. As this is far cheaper than a short block I thought 'What the heck?' Poured this in followed directions exactly and Voila sealed the crack. I replaced the 4th cyl plug (Whose electrode was gone) and the engine now purrs. I'm frankly astounded and couldn't be happier. I've driven about 100 miles so far, no loss of oil or antifreeze, no more over pressurization situation in the cooling system. Simply blown away! Will update after more miles.

Had a pesky head gasket leak into cylinder #2 in yet another late 90's, 4.6_liter Vortex V-8. My engine symptoms were within the stated guarantee guidelines, so I purchased this latest Bar's Leak HG-1 HEAD SEAL product from Amazon AND followed the directions to a 'T'. Well...This 'Miracle-In-A-Can' almost immediately eliminated my head gasket issue! No more coolant odor, no more water vapor from the exhaust pipe AND Increased/Restored Compression! Absolutely amazing!!! Further, since introducing this product into my cooling system back in mid September of 2017, my engine remains restored to a leak free condition. AAA+++THANK YOU!

I'm an auto dealer. Made a mistake and purchased an expensive low mileage Chrysler 300 at on-line auction. What I didn't know, It had a head gasket leak. Our mechanic informed me that this mistake will cost me $2600.00 to repair "if the head does not have to be milled". I felt sick... before proceeding with the $2600.00 option, I decided to try Bar's HG-1 Head Seal. IT WORKED! I've been driving this vehicle every day 25 miles each way back and fourth to work. I've purposely raced the engine with A/C at MAX and the seal held beautifully. Thanks for an excellent product that works as advertised. NOTE: Make sure you follow instructions exactly and use the correct amount for your cooling system capacity.

We have a 1998 Cadillac deville in perfect condition. No one has ever even sat in the backseat. 88,000 original miles. We were heartbroken when it started losing coolant big time. No smoking or anything like that but our mechanic had already warned us about the Northstar Cadillac engine. Hubby decided he was ready for a new car. Refused to put the 5000.00 repair quoted especially since he was offered that as is by several people for our beauty. He mentioned he had heard of a product like this. Our mechanic literally cringed! We followed the directions exactly. It took a little extra coolant after the first couple of short trips.. it’s been several weeks and it is driving like a dream as usual. We haven’t had to add any coolant at all. We don’t know if it will last but we are tickled pink. He hasn’t taken it out of town but he has driven all over our huge city with no problems. We are convinced we will get a few more years out of our Bella! I bet you can tell I get attached to my cars😁

My sisters PT Cruiser was overheating. I tried all the easy normal repairs like a thermostat. Twice, after minor repairs I was convinced it was repaired. I could let it run for hours at an idle with no problems. But on a long, high speed test drive it would overheat. I finally realized there were small bubbles coming up. This is a lot easier to see with one of those fill-funnels that attaches to where the cap normally goes. With the funnel filled with water, I could see a steady stream of bubbles. The head gasket is a major job on this vehicle. I nearly drove the car to the salvage yard that day. But, I decided to fix it. I ended up replacing not only the head gasket, but also the timing belt, water pump, all the pulleys, every seal, etc. It was a major undertaking that took me many days. I was devastated when after all that work, the car still overheated. It seems on one of the times it had been over heated, the block or head cracked. Sigh. I thought about it a few days, and decided to try a stop leak. To my astonishment, this stuff actually works. I did the procedure twice (By twice, I mean I let it run the 15 minutes as recommended, and then I let it cool off, and then I ran again for 15 minutes. I did not need to add additional leak stop.) After cooling, I would attach my fill-funnel and look for bubbles. After the first time, I thought 'maybe' I saw a few bubbles. (But maybe not.) After the second time, I saw NO bubbles. On a subsequent long drive, on a very hot day, with the A/C on, the temperature of the car stayed normal. WOW!!! I am an old retired mechanic. Normally, I would never recommend a product like this. But in this case, it saved a vehicle from being scrapped.

saved my head gasket, blew my mind. I am a mechanic by trade, so normally I would say to NEVER use these, but in pricing out the work, I realized I would not have the money required to get this done right. I saw this, and thought, "well maybe" and so I gave it a try, went from a gallon a week, to the same level for almost two months now. If you have a nicer, newer motor, I would still say do it right, but on my old truck that is heading for a new engine in a couple years anyway, this will work to hold me over.

I bought a 2006 Kia Sorento for my wife at a good deal because it had high mileage. Everything seemed fine for about 6 months until we noticed that although there was no visible coolant leak, we were having to top it off once per week. Then we got the dreaded white smoke that only took two days to become completely unbearable. Fearing a $1500+ head gasket job, I took to the interwebs and found Bar's Leak HG-1. $30 for a bottle?!?! Why not! As many others have suggestion, I followed the directions to the letter. After initially pouring in the thick, heavy liquid, I topped off the coolant level and started the SUV and let it run for about 15 minutes while it got to operating temperature. The first 10 minutes were excruciating and embarrassing. The vehicle smoked worse than a BBQ grill on the 4th of July with the fat from some pork ribs falling on the coals. But over the last 5 minutes, the smoke decreased until it was almost non-existent when I turned off the vehicle. I came back about a half an hour later, topped off the coolant level again, and started the vehicle up to do the 15 minute ride at 1500 RPMs. To my surprise, there was no smoke! NONE! ZILCH! NADA! I took off on the drive and only noticed a very faint amount of smoke while waiting at a red light. But after the light turned green and I took off, the smoke went away. By the time I got home, there was never another sign of smoke. Oddly enough, the engine seemed to run smoother and much quieter as well. Tonight the engine will cool down and I will check the coolant level again in the morning before my wife takes off for work. I will report back in a few weeks or maybe a couple of months or so to advise how the seal is holding up! For now, THIS ISH ROCKS!!!

I've used Bar's Leak HG-1 HEAD SEAL Blown Head Gasket Repair in three cars. It worked in two and didn't in a third. It has worked with a heater core leak in a VW and a blown head gasket in a 4 cylinder Ford Ranger. It did not work in a 6 cylinder GMC because the head got overheated (suggestion: change water pumps at 100K) and was badly warped. I called Bar's Leak about the product not working and they refunded my money. I will continue to use this product because it works and the company supports its products.
