works fine on a 2013 Chevy avalanche
I have a 2013 Chevy avalanche and this product works fine. I did some research before I bought the DZ43102 tailgate shock and found 2 other reviews that said it works so I bought it, even though the manufacture said it's not for that application. It works fine and was easy to install. I'm very happy and it does exactly what it says, now my tailgate doesn't drop like a rock when you open it. I just put one on the drivers side and seems fine, I suppose you can add another one to the right side if you wanted to but I think it's fine with just one. Thanks for listening I hope this helps for all you avalanche owners. Buy one you'll be happy you did. Sweetadventures

Works for '15 Silverado with spray liner and EZ Lift
I have a 2015 Silverado with the integrated EZ lift system. The tailgate opened slowly and closed easily when I first got the truck, but as soon as I had my bed Line X'd the added weight was too much for the stock damper. I added this kit from Dee Zee and it has returned the tailgate to how it should operate. Easy to install though the blind nut installation part could use some improvement as it felt like the threads were right on the edge of giving before the nut mushroomed on the backside.

Follow all the instructions
If you follow all the instructions and use the recommended tools this strut is a piece of cake to install. I had no problems at all with the insert spinning during installation. It was pretty easy to see how someone NOT following the instructions could encounter that particular problem. Does the strut make some noise? Mine does, but not a lot. Certainly not as much as dropping the tailgate without it. Of course, it does do the job it was designed for and takes the weight of the tailgate when opening it. Should prevent cable damage. Now if only there was a little assist for closing the tailgate. Things seem to get heavier every year as you age.

Get one!
Great for trucks that don't come OEM with an easy drop, nice little feature to have so if you have friends with an easy drop tailgate on their truck they don't forget and just let yours slam down. Install is extremely easy and can be done in well under 10min with the proper tools (5&4 mm hex/ Allen keys, and 10&13mm wrenches). For those who are having trouble installing...read the directions again, its super simple. For the price of this kit, ease of installation, and perfect fit it's hard to beat. EDIT: had this for about a year now, I use it quite a bit. still holding up well and working. No rust on any of the hardware that was supplied. One thing I have noticed is that with temperature it has a great affect on how fast your tailgate drops. it drops very slow and soft when its below freezing, but it drops and still makes a "thud" when the temps are around 90* or above. I expect to have to replace the gas shock sometime in the future, but thats to be expected with them. My back still thanks me every time I use it!

Easy to install, Works great!
I have a 2010 Chevy Silverado and have been looking for small improvements I can make to the truck over the years. If you're envious of the newer trucks and their advanced features, this is an excellent way to improve your truck! It was easy to install, in my opinion. I had no problems with the blind nut installation, although I did see other reviewers have some issues. The gas strut installed easily once I had the mating features installed properly. I have no complaints with this product and would buy again!

Great item and ease of tailgate lifting. Does not allow tail gate to drop either
I had it on my 2015 GMC Sierra and was a great item. Lifting with an index finger. So I got it for my 3500hd Silverado I just purchased as well. unfortunately, the installers of the rear tailgate camera utilized the mounting hole for this and haven't spent the tiem to make this happen yet, I can tell you about the Sierra's experience at least. Would I recommend or purchase again?....Read above first line. Great product.

pay attention to initial beginning of install
The only tricky part of installation is the expansion nut or whatever DeeZee called it in the beginning of installation... as long as you pay attention to how tight you make it, (I had no issues but can see how easy it would be to damage the expanding nut) the install should be easy and take 15 minutes or less! I did it in less than 15 minutes and it drops my tailgate beautifully! I Installed it on my 2011 GMC Sierra SLE with a factory spray-on liner and aftermarket tonneau cover, and have plenty of clearance for parts, nothing rubs, and unlike other people, Mine does NOT make any noise. Maybe I got very lucky? I dont know, but it works extremely smooth. Curious to see how it endures its first Massachusetts winter though. $20.00 well spent!

I will find out because I live on a dirt road and the dust is not normally very nice to these types of things
Bought this for my 2013 2500HD. Installed in about 15 minutes with no problems. Have had it on for about 3 weeks now, it took me a few days to get used to not having to hold the tailgate when opened but now, I just open the gate and let it fall. It works slicker than snot. As for durability, I will find out because I live on a dirt road and the dust is not normally very nice to these types of things. If it lasts a couple of years, I will be happy.

Easy to intall
This product was very easy to install. Just follow the instructions provided in the package. I used the tools listed, and the installation went like a breeze. The shock greatly slows down the tailgate to lessen the stress on the cables, and does not make it any harder to close the tailgate. This is something that should have been standard equipment on the truck to begin with.
