Practical, useful, despite cheap, mostly plastic construction
As others have said, yes, this is cheaply made...all plastic with low quality plastic lenses that have considerable distortion. BUT, for the price you can't expect to much for this type of instrument. If wearing for long periods of time, a sweatband will make the plastic headband more comfortable, otherwise it's fine in a pinch. Someone asked about the size head it would fit and I measured a width of about 6.5 inches at the temples where the tightening knobs are. The frame is pretty rigid at that point but will flex enough to hopefully not cause too much pressure if you're right at the max width. Depth is about 8.75 inches. Viewing with the primary lens, focus is best at roughly 9 inches, reducing to 3.5 with the flip down bi-lens, and about 1.5 when you flip down the mono lens....not much workspace there, but rather more just for closely inspecting an object. Those distances were just rough measurements taken from the object I was looking at, a yardstick, to the surface of the lens Viewing the yardstick, there is about 3.5 inches of relatively undistorted viewing width at the point of sharpest focus, with some curvilinear distortion making the yardstick appear slightly bowed. That doesn't affect usability much in my opinion but can be reduced by moving forward over the object and then tilting your head inwards. With the bi-lens flipped down, you've got about 2 inches of viewing width, distortions seemingly lessened by the reduced viewing distance required, and finally about 0.375 inches with all 3 lenses in use, with significant distortion made more apparent by the mono lens not being parallel to the other lenses...the attachment point for that lens actually holding it at an angle instead of straight as seen in the provided photo. All in all, for the price these are very functional for hands-free viewing of magnified objects and working on them, space permitting. For sharper, higher-magnification albeit with a fussy attachment clamp, I have the ToolUSA MG-17281 triple-lens loupe that clips onto eyeglasses. In general, I still find this headband magnifier more practical in use. I give it 5 stars relative to its $15 price, although if I could have found it for $10 as another user did, I would call it a steal! Definitely worth having around.

Extremely versatile magnification and fits great
I got new glasses and the part for close vision is very small--almost useless for close up work. I do colored pencil and watercolor painting and sometimes the spaces are very small and I was using a goose neck magnifying lens to see them, until it broke. I didn't know what strength of magnification I needed and this headset has so many settings it took me awhile to find them all. It goes all the way from magnifying 1.9 times the size of the original to 8.3 times the size. With eyeglass clip-on magnifiers you have to specify which magnification you want, and they are quite pricey for only one magnification strength. Since I had no idea what strength my broken one was, and I just wanted a magnifying lens I didn't have to hold, this headset is perfect. I can switch between all the different settings until I find one I like. One strength of lens is permanently mounted, then another behind it flips up and down, and a third swings down from outside the lens. There is also a light which is nice so I don't have to keep adjusting the table light to prevent shadows. The head-strap adjusts to fit any size head. This is a great magnifying head set.

I love this! Okay so it's built cheap and feels ...
I love this! Okay so it's built cheap and feels kind of cheap, BUT I figured being less than ten bucks that it may not even be useable. It definitely is. Oh and how sweet it has made my life. I do a lot of work with microelectronics and have been using the magnifying glass stand with alligator clips which gets very frustrating when I'm needing different angles every few seconds and better lighting. This has 2 LED's in it that position perfectly. And the 3 lenses give different degrees of magnification. 2 bi-lenses and one single eye lense. Pros: Hand free magnification, secure fit on head that adjusts, ability to raise the entire front for normal vision, clear magnification, 2 LED's, LOW price Cons: Um, kidna cheaply made. Now, for me this is not a con because I expected the quality. But for someone wanting a professionally made headset this may not work. But for me, I can so anything with this and I'll just not drop it :P Over all, love it and very happy.. here's was I see through the lense on this pcb board.

Good product...for the price, GREAT product!
Is this "The best money can buy?" Don't be silly. They're cheap magnifiers. But they're cheap magnifiers that WORK, and work well. I use these for electronics work, so primarily, I'm using the main lenses, though I do flip down the others from time to time. The lenses are clear, and magnify really well, with very little distortion. It's easy to work using them. The light is bright and can be easily adjusted for quirks of how you hold your head or look at what you're doing. The band is solid. It's not THE most comfortable thing that I've worn on my head, but it's less uncomfortable than a decent hard hat. The size adjustment in back is VERY stiff. If you're going to use this between a couple of people with very different head sizes...well, maybe it'll loosen up. I'd honestly just buy two for the price. Still, it DOESN'T get loose, which I've had happen a lot with head-mounted gear in the past. Definitely one of my most important tools, and if it ever does break, I'm getting a new pair overnighted.

Really surprised at the quality!
I have had the same head mounted magnifier for over 20 years. When I bought it it was around 25 bucks and lasted until today. But, my son has recently discovered electronics and soldering so of course, my pair ended up in his room. Knowing that I could always go get them if needed, I decided to just buy a cheap replacement to leave at my workbench which would get the job done for most things. Sooo... Being on the cheaper side of things, I didn't expect too much when I bought this one. But I have to tell you, I AM REALLY IMPRESSED! The construction and overall feel of this visor is definitely solid. But, even more impressive is the clarity of the magnifiers. Sure they're plastic lenses but, that doesn't mean they're distorted or have visual imperfections. These lenses are quite sharp! The addition of the magnifying loupe does have a bit of vignetting but, seeing as I only use that to look at a very tiny surface mount component or pad, that doesn't concern me too much. The built in light is a super bonus for me... I love how you can shift it left or right depending on your area of concern on a PC board. Even with the light and batteries, the visor stays in place when I swivel it up when not in use. This was a great buy! Now my son will probably steal THIS ONE from me and I'll have to buy two... LOL

Wish I would have bought these first.........
Just received these today to replace another set I bought on amazon but found to be too heavy/bulky feeling: "Yoctosun Head Mount Magnifier With 2 Led Professional Jeweler's Loupe Light Bracket And Headband Are Interchangeable". Understanding the SE MH1047L are not expensive and there will be complaints about how cheap these might seem, but I am quite happy with the price to performance aspect of these and don't need to use them more than once a week for 15 minutes or so. Unlike other reviewers: 1) I do find the headband comfortable and the adjustment knob seems adequate to fit the heads of all 3 different users in my house. 2) Some have complained about the magnification of these being lousy. I disagree - I find all three levels very handy and can focus on whatever I am looking at without difficulty. My vision not 20/20 by the way - I have to wear cheaters to read. 3) As for the brightness of the LED light - my 20 year old headband magnifiers like this had no light, so I am happy these have one and find it usefull. I'm not sure what purpose it would serve me to have it be "brighter", but noted some complained about that. Non-issue for me. The SE MH1047L are easier to use with respect to changing magnification levels, and don't feel like you have a huge weight ready to fall off your forehead and resting on the bridge of your nose. I also find the 3 choices of mag levels with this unit to be just as useful as the larger variety of ones on the Yoctosun model. Both have LED lights and I found both to be equal in performance. I'd buy these again.

Better than my old ones
I have a similar pair that did not have adjustable tension screws on the sides. It would not stay in place as it aged. It also had incandescent lights on either side with alkaline batteries that made it heavy and the lights were not very bright. It was more difficult to adjust correctly with the hook and loop on the back of the band. This pair solves the problems the old ones had. It is easier to adjust, LEDs are much brighter. It is in the center, adjustable, and use less batteries so it is lighter. The magnification is the same. There is a main lens and a flip down lens for higher magnification. There is a smaller, high-magnification lens on the side. You can use all three at the same time if needed. Initially, it was too tight to move up and down. The adjustment screws were so tight I had to use pliers to loosen them. They are now hand-tight and working fine.

More than a bargain...this is a Great Purchase!
This is an excellent headset for the price paid for it, and I definitely have a sense that I received much more than what I actually paid for. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the head light/magnifier fit. I have a very large head for a woman and have had lifelong difficult in getting any sort of head piece to fit. This one can be adjusted with a small wheel on the back of the head band so you can position the magnifying lenses in place and tighten the head piece to get things as secure as possible. This purchase was truly perfect for my needs. I'm teaching myself some basic electronics (with terrible vision on my part) and this head piece fixes that problem and extremely well. Thank you!

Illuminated multi-power head magnifier.
Fast shipped. I wasn't expecting a lot for 10 dollars, but the price actually devalues this item - I've never said that. Simple box with a protective bag. No instruction, but is self explanatory, unless you're an ape or gopher. Box is 10x8x3. The knob to tighten and loosen is stiff, but I think for good reason. (Otherwise it would loosen, and fall off) The light flips up to put batteries in. They arent included. I personally have a ton of batteries, or I'd pay more to get some included. But really, you can get cheap ones at dollar store. Not a biggie. I bought these for fire agate grinding and polishing. I should have gotten this a long long time ago. Eyeglasses have great magnifying, the eyepiece magnifies even more!! I can see color and depth that I couldn't see before. You wont be dissatisfied with this purchase. Would recommend, and buy again.

Great for crafting mini-star wars figures!
This is great - the cost is super low, the solution it provides me is great! I manufacture my very own Star Wars miniatures - before these lenses, I was working blind - my miniatures are around 2CM tall! Just like Micro Machines! I need to sculpt, injection mold plastic, carve, paint, and finish these tiny things! These lenses allow me to work in that miniature world with ease!
