THE best wheel cleaner I've ever used
This stuff really is the best. Spray on dry wheels, let soak while I get the hose out, spray off when I start wetting the car down and the wheels are done. Takes all the brake dust and everything off. Every few washes I use my microfiber wheel brush and get the barrels and hard to reach places. I even bring it with me to the car was and spray the wheels before start (self wash not automatic). I bough the big jug and refill my squirt bottle as needed. Its a little spendy, but worth every penny.

Most effective wheel cleaner
I have a BMW M3, which comes with particularly aggressive brake pads. The amount of brake dust this generates is unbelievable... it only takes a few days for the wheels to become totally black. I've tried dozens of cleaners. My weekly cleaner is actually P21S Wheel Gel, which costs a fraction of the Sonax. But for heavy accumulation or a "deep clean" nothing is better than the Sonax. It has a chemical to dissolve iron, similar to other products like Iron X. Since brake dust is primarily ionized ferrous material from disc wear sticking to the disc, the dissolution of the iron is important to get a totally-clean look. Expensive stuff, but does exactly what it is supposed to!

Excellent, easy to use wheel cleaner!
I've never used any wheel cleaners on my car until this past month when I tried 2 different products. I've been using a drive through car wash and occasionally get the wheel clean option but that only does an ok job at cleaning the wheels. Whatever dirt/grime that remains has been there and over time the wheels have slowly been looking more and more dirty due to the brake dust and dirt the automatic car wash doesn't get off. I didn't feel like spending a lot of time with a brush, etc so first I tried a Meguiars product from the local auto parts store. Despite the ok reviews for that, it did absolutely nothing to make my wheels look any different. I then ordered Sonax from Amazon. At first I didn't notice anything happening. I sprayed the first wheel and the product appeared to be a fluorescent greenish color and that was it. I moved to the second wheel and saw the same thing. I then looked back at the first wheel I sprayed and noticed it turning reddish color and realized this stuff was working. It even started taking the years and years of crap off the inside of the wheel but I think that will need some additional attention due the amount of crap that's been on there for a very long time. Overall this stuff works fantastic, it's worth every penny and just for ease of use without having to spend time scrubbing the wheels I highly recommend it and I'm very happy to have my wheels looking like new again.

Absolutely the finest cleaner on the market.
It will take one look from your friends to say. "Did you buy some new wheels?". This stuff is absolutely amazing. For the full effect, dismount your wheel, spray the back. Go do something for 10 minutes. Wash with water, no scrubbing needed. Turn the rim face up, do it again. Do the rest of your rims, and don't forget the tire protectant when you reinstall them. This stuff will handle salt, road tar, off-road dirt and mud- you get it dirty, it comes clean. Where was this stuff when I was racing off-road?

Great cleaner - worth every penny
This stuff is awesome! I've tried a lot of wheel cleaners and never really found one that wowed me -- until this. It breaks down significant build up and even changes color to show you where its working (okay, maybe that is a gimmick but it is a nice touch). I spray this on at the beginning of my wash, let it soak while I wash the rest of the car. The consistency is thicker than many other products I've tried, so it stays where you spray it and doesn't just run off immediately. The brake dust and grime comes right off with just a gentle pass with a microfiber. If you aren't too picky about your wheels you could probably spray this on and then pressure wash off for decent results without even scrubbing manually. I keep my wheels pretty clean, so I can't say how this product would work on major buildup, but I think it would tackle it really well. This isn't the cheapest wheel cleaner out there, but I would gladly pay a premium for this product. If you want to be cost effective, buy the gallon size and just refill the spray bottle -- that is what I did and it works great.

It's not scrub-free but it does work
I'll try to keep it short: It does smell bad - really bad - but it works. It goes on lime green and once it's turned red (from interacting with the iron in the brake dust) it can be hosed off. It's not scrub-free but it does penetrate the really stubborn brake dust including the yellow staining that accumulates on alloys . If you're willing to put in 2 minutes with a hot, soapy sponge, then you'll get great results. Use the Sonax first, let it sit, hose it off (make sure it's all well hose off). Sponge the wheels with a hot, soapy sponge. You won't need to scrub. Hose off again. Done Some reviewers claim the bottle is too small. I'm not sure what they were doing but I did 4 wheels and probably used less than a quarter of the bottle. You don't need to go crazy with this stuff. The spray IS a spray, not a jet like some have mentioned. If you're squeezing the trigger like you're holding on for dear life then sure, it's a jet. But be smart and you get a foamy spray. DO NOT use this on a windy day. D'uh.

Sonax killing it again.
Having used a handful of other Iron removing wheel cleaners, so far I'm really impressed with the Sonax entry. Unlike many which have a VERY strong sulfur smell this one has a faint citrus scent which keeps you from being overwhelmed. As a result of the slightly weaker smell, I'd imagine it's slightly less aggressive than cleaners like Nanoskin Iron Free or other similar products BUT the biggest difference I've noticed is that this will not stain tires like others do while still dissolving Iron and making for a simple cleanup. And it's not a gallon - remember it's 5 liters so you get almost an extra quart of liquid over US manufacturers.

Goldilocks wheel cleaner
I've tried a few wheel cleaners in the past: - Meguiar's Hot Rims wheel cleaner - Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner - Various concentrated car washes (Meguiar's Gold Class, Griot's Garage Car Wash, etc.) Sonax is by far the best balance in wheel cleaning. The Meguiar's cleans the "best", but it can also discolor your calipers, and has a short working time. It also smells reasonably noxious. Griot's is mild, very mild. It smells really really nice, but it does take a bit of elbow grease to get the tough brake dust off. Sonax tackles tough brake dust without any issues. It doesn't smell as nice as Griot's, but it doesn't smell noxious like the Meguiar's. I feel like Sonax is in the Goldilocks zone for wheel cleaners. It's not too harsh, but not too mild, smells fine, without being being too noxious, or too pleasant (if that's a bad thing!). Price-wise, it's a bit more than Griot's, and about 40% more than the Meguiar's. I feel it's well worth it for cars which have issues with brake dust. Griot's is great for cars whose wheels just need a bit of cleaning without a plethora of brake dust. The Meguiar's works great for quick cleaning when you don't mind fumes, and you don't care about the look of your calipers.

Best for BMW Break Dust!
This is the best spray I have used to kick the stubborn break dust on my rims. BMW's are known for gathering tons of black brake dust... QUICKLY. So I need to use this every single time I wash my car. It's very easy to use, just spray it on & let it set for a bit and then I use the strongest setting on my water hose and shoot it all off. I would say that at least 75% of the brake dust vanishes after this. I'm sure if I repeated the process again, I would be able to remove about 90%. I usually go in after and scrub off the remaining break dust anyway, but this product makes everything so much easier. My only gripe is that the bottle is so small, and the product really requires generous spraying. I use this bottle up in about 6-8 washes. The price is a little steep, but it helps so much that I ended up subscribing to get it every 2 months. This stuff is like magic!

It take some of the work out of cleaning your wheels.
Sonax will help clean the brakedust off of your wheels. It works: Worth the price? Yes (it is a bit steep at 15-18 bucks but it cuts down on the time you have to hunch over). Does it work miracles? No (You will still need to get in there and clean). Do I have to use a lot? Depends on how dirty the wheels are. Is this safe on my wheels? Yes (I have personally used this for many years without any worries). How do I know its working? Color change: goes from highlighter color to blood red to tell you Directions: Apply Sonax to your wheels before spraying down your car, liquid is bright yellow/green and will turn red when in contact with brake dust. You have to spray on a decent amount to cover your wheels, wait a few minutes and then rinse Sonax off with water when rinsing car. Please Note: You will still need to do additional scrubbing to get all of your break dust off, its not a magicial item that makes everything disappear. Buy a brush, such as a "Viking 862600 Red and Black Premium Metal Free Wheel and Rim Wand" and get to work. Your wheels won't look like you just came back from a track day.
