Make sure the USB port the device is plugged into is powered for best results and least amount of hassle
This game controller works perfectly on my Windows 10 system without any additional software driver/config download required. I just plugged it into a powered USB port and the OS detected and installed the device in less than a minute. Make sure the USB port the device is plugged into is powered for best results and least amount of hassle. I've tested it with nearly all types of gaming software. There is a switch on the underside to choose the controller's input method: X for Xarcade, and D for DirectInput. I left it in the default X as the instructions recommended for my 'modern' system. Older Windows OSes like Win98 or WinXP may need to use the 'D' DirectInput setting and have the Logitech config software downloaded and installed. However, if you are using Windows 7/8/10, the 'X' Xarcade setting seems to be best and the Logitech software is not needed. At least I didn't need it. The controller works great with my Steam games, although I mostly play FPS games and typically use a keyboard/mouse combo for those. It is also fully compatible with all my emulators: MAME, DosBOX, WinVICE, WinUAE, Fusion, ZSNESW, Higan, Project 64, DeMul, Stella, and AppleWin. I could even use the two analog sticks as two separate joysticks, allowing great use in MAME games like Atari's BattleZone or Williams' Robotron:2084. I just had to make sure that the joystick support was enabled and configured properly in those various emulators. On some emulators the various 'buttons' would show up as "JOY D1 UP' and 'JOY X' 'JOY Y' 'JOY A' while on another they would show up as 'BUTTON 1' 'BUTTON2' through 'BUTTON 16'. Nevertheless, once I configured them the way I wanted and saved the configuration in the emulator, the controller worked fine. As for use on a PlayStation or Xbox console, I don't know because I don't have those. I'll be buying another one of these for use in two-player games.

Nice replacement Controller
I have been using an Xbox 360 controller for PC gaming because the controller was familiar, and I find it the most comfortable. My controller was starting to act up, and I knew I had to replace it real soon. I have had some luck with Logitech mice and keyboards in the past, and figured, well, it ain't gonna break the bank, let's give it a whirl. The joystick configuration is similar to the Playstation, and that's not a bad thing, Dual joysticks (side by side) work better than the joystick, directional pad and then joystick. I thought this would be something that I would have to get used to, but, not at all an issue. The controller size is roughly the same as an Xbox 360 controller, with identical coloring with X Y A B configuration. It pairs just fine with any of the games that I frequent, GTA V, Elite: Dangerous, Battlefield 4, etc, without having to update with custom configurations. It is light, it is corded. The trigger buttons have a very nice tension, and feels better than OEM. Although lightweight, the buttons feel more responsive, and to the touch it is a great replacement. The contours offer a similar hold, but, win in overall comfort. This one is a Win.

2+ years of heavy use and abuse without a single issue
This wired controller was cheaper than wireless models and more reliable (see below). I wouldn't mind a longer cord, but just bought a USB extension cable for use in my living room. I've been abusing this controller for a couple years now, without a single problem with any button/switch. I got this for my living room game PC build. I tried various wireless controllers, but none proved reliable enough at maintaining a connection in the city (lots of RF interference). Even a 99.9% reliability results in a command not getting through once every 10-15ish minutes... which means my character fails to jump or dodge or something. That was super frustrating. After I finally decided to go wired... I couldn't be happier.

Perfect for Steam
This is the one of the cheapest options that is fully supported (at the time of writing) on Steam. Great for older games or console ports on a PC. The quality is excellent, just like the Logitech Dual Action controller from the old days when controllers were everywhere, but updated to include the XInput - DirectInput switch on back for compatibility. Is there anything this won't work with? Possibly, but I don't know, it works with everything I have. There is no vibration or wireless, but the thing just works.

Excellent value, makes me *slightly* less terrible at games.
Easy to use, with a plug-and-play software installation. Perfect if you're technologically challenged like I am. The price point really can't be beat for someone who has only a very casual interest in gaming. I don't own any consoles, but occasionally enjoy playing games online with my friends. My friends, however, don't always enjoy my constantly "breaking" games or stalling gameplay by getting stuck in doorways or not understanding how keyboard controls work. I had a PS2 growing up, and this is exactly the style of controller I had for that, so I know where the buttons are and have a general idea of what they do. I'm still terrible at games, but this controller helps get me to a level that is less "rage-quit" inducing fury and more "haha look what Chriss did again!" amusement for those patient enough to let me join their games. A definite improvement for me! It's lightweight, and the perfect size for me. I have fairly small hands, so I don't like big controllers where I can't always reach the buttons easily. Really anything that makes gaming harder for me is going to be a turnoff, but I don't have any problems like that with this controller. The option to press a button and have the computer recognize it as different types of gamepads makes this compatible with almost all of my favorite games, which is great because I'm not the kind of gamer who can justify having more than one of these lying around. I searched a few forums to figure out which gamepad would work best for me, and this was the one that came most highly recommended for casual gamers looking for a reasonably-priced tool that would be compatible with the most modern games. I'm glad I went with this one, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an easier way to not constantly "break" their games trying to use keyboard controls.

Great controller!
I love this controller for what it is. It's quite a fusion of a PS3 Controller and an Xbox 360 Controller. Durability feels cheap, but cost-effective since it is plastic. Very ergonomic when I held it with both of my hands for longer sessions of play. Functionality in both X-Input and D-Input modes are well done in Windows 10 with no needed drivers whatsoever in games and programs like emulators that needed D-Input to work, and also no connectivity issues. Triggers are fluid, and bumper buttons are clickable. Face Buttons are easily responsive with each presses. The D-Pad seemed floaty, but still works like an analog. Analog sticks are pretty good for moving the character and looking around in video games, and they have clickable buttons when I tested the controller itself. This would be my go-to controller for all PC games and emulation, and I highly recommend it! It is an amazing controller on a tight budget.

Finally a gamepad that works well with Chromebooks!
I love this thing, it works flawlessly with my Chromebook! I've tried multiple gamepads with my Asus C302 Chromebook without any success in the past as Chromebooks have issues with the drivers and would just not recognize the gamepads. The Logitech Gamepad F310 truly is plug and play. I use it to play modern games like Zombie Age 3 but also a ton of emulator games with Retro8, SuperRetro16 and Mupen64Plus from Google Play Store on my Chromebook. The button mapping is simple and the ability to play retro games like Super Mario World, Zelda, etc. on a chromebook is fantastic. As for the feel of the controller, it reminds me of Xbox controllers but is lighter. The buttons are very clicky and a little loud but that's the only downside to it. I truly love this thing for its ability to turn my chromebook into a multi system game emulator. If you are looking around for a gamepad to use on Chrome OS that is just plug and play, you found it! Enjoy.

For Mac you may have a few extra steps ahead of you, but still a great controller for the $$$.
Wanted to run some game emulators on my Macbook pro and needed a basic controller so I chose this one for compatibility with the emulators. I am running a Macbook Pro with High Sierra. Flipping the switch on the controller to "D" did not work for me. Instead, I downloaded and installed Logitech's "Control Center for Macintosh". http://support.logitech.com/en_us/software/logitech-control-center-for-macintosh-os-x After installing the Control Center -- On the Macbook Pro in System Preferences, there will be another icon for Logitech Control Center. If you click on it you will NOT see the Logitech Gamepad F310 controller, however in the system as well as in your emulator/game, the joystick will show up and work in your games -- At least this is what I had to do to get it to work and it works in FS-UAE, SDLMAME and OpenEmu. I have no reason to think it wouldn't work for native Mac games as well.

"An In Depth Controller Review" by an unqualified, but eager reviewer
I come from a large family, all who favor different gaming consoles. I'm quite familiar with Xbox, Dualshock, and Nintendo controllers over multiple console generations. When I became drawn to PC gaming, I was kind of disappointed by the lack of solid controllers for PC. After wearing out my Xbox360 controller (I buried it in my backyard with Taps playing in the background) , I decided to try an find a dedicated PC controller. It was rather odd for me to find that one of the highest rated controllers on Amazon was a budget model, but after toying around with it I can say that this truly an exceptional controller. The build quality is, of course... plastic.... but it feels much smoother and firmer than most third party console controllers, even in spite of its ludicrously light weight. The face buttons are large and clicky, and the analog sticks/ d-pad setup more reminiscent of a PS controller than an XBOX one. The analog sticks are slightly convex, their surface rubbery, and they're both placed side by side at the bottom of the controller. While I prefer the Xbox configuration, it didn't take me long to adjust at all. In fact, I find the analog sticks to be one of the finer points of the controller. The rubbery finish actually has enough traction to compensate for slippery thumbs and the deadzones in the sticks are practically identical to the 360 controller (ie:relatvely small). While XboxOne and PlayStation users might need to re-adapt to the less than perfect precision, I was aiming and shooting like a pro (or at least, not like a chump), right off the bat. The shoulder buttons are a little peculiar. They run a little small, but are VERY springy. The trigger buttons are more trigger than button, and require a more specific finger placement than a regular controller to reliably press. While a little weird, I take that as a sign that I probably wont have to worry about "sticky" buttons anytime soon. Also, as pointed out by other reviewers, this does have both Xbox and custom input configurations. As a Steam user, I find this quite convenient. Overall I recommend whole heartedly. If anyone got less than what I described, I suggest returning your controller and trying out a replacement before writing it off (I would also suggest buying this new, as I have no idea what the average lifespan of these controllers are). EDIT 8/2017: This controller is now two years old and still running strong. This is a definite buy!

Great for the price, worked perfectly out of the box.
I just got 2 of these in the mail today and they are greeeeat! They came in easy to open package, so I had no need for scissors, which is always a plus. Don't you hate it when it takes forever to open a package? The gamepads feel really good in your hands, they are very light weight and the keys have pretty good feedback, they're not stiff. I liked the D-pad a lot, it's easy to move it around. One concern I have though is that if you use it too much it might get loose. The cable is 6ft. long so that's a pretty good cable length if you're going to be relatively close to the screen/tv/monitor so some people might need a longer cable if they're going to be sitting farther away. They worked right out of the box with the switch in the back set to X which stands for the Xbox input mode. There's a button next to the logitech (which doesn't really do anything) button called mode that switches the between flight mode and sports mode, to help optimize your gameplay. The color is a little darker than what it shows up in the online pictures, but if you have a lot of light hitting it, it looks dark purplish blue (see pictures) I will post an update if I find anything bad about it or something breaks
