Easy way to begin.

The kit has everything you need to begin. Instructions good but took a little while to get straight. An instructional DVD would be a big help. Lacis has a wonderful on line catalog for supplies.

really neat

Got it on time (actually quicker than i expected) well packaged. great started kit. the instructions were only a couple of sheets of paper and easily understandable. it would be a good idea to order the book about beginning bobbin lace to go with it. the quality of the kit was also really good-the bobbins, thread, and stand. i was really pleased. an excellant birthday present f schluter

Fine basic/intro kit to the art

This is a solid set of supplies useful for a novice bobbin lacemaker. Everything supplied is excellent, and if one wanted to, one could certainly start up and start weaving lace! However, I want to pad the styrene pillow with felt and cover it with twill before I start, so that's an extra step. I will note that these bobbins are round and have neither spangles nor holes for adding such; Lacis also sells square bobbins which would likely work better here. I have not yet tried the projects, but they do include prickings for some basic lace edging. Looking at the prickings and the thread included, I am not sure whether these are a good fit; the pricking templates seem large for the very fine thread included. I will be starting with projects from a book that specifies particular thread and has the pricking templates to scale. Still, this does have all the basics got get one started, and very conveniently!

good way to start

This kit is a good beginner kit. I will be able to add to the tools as my skill grows and still use everything in this kit.

Great start for bobbinlace hobby

I actually purchased this kit to get the bobbins and pins for a current project. This is the second time I've ordered this kit. I like the size of the bobbins and the price is great especially with free shipping! It's a great start for any beginner since it also includes thread, patterns, and a base to hold the pins. I think if someone is teaching lacemaking this is a great kit for each student.
