Perfect for Back Surgery

The NOVA Medical Products Toilet Seat Elevator arrived quickly and was packaged in a nice colorful box. I ordered the white elongated rise. It came with easy to follow instructions, long bolts, washers, and wing nuts. Installation was very easy and self explanatory. The riser lifted the toilet seat to just the right height. My husband had back surgery recently and was struggle to use the over the toilet walker style raise toilet seat. The walker style seat was uncomfortable and the older round style. I searched and searched and searched and was unable to find anything like this riser in stores, not to mention no one actually carries the elongated version of any style. After many stores, I finally ordered this seat via Prime and it arrived right away! The seat was much more comfortable and easier to use than the walker style seat. This riser simply goes under your toilet seat to raise it up and installs all parts together with the long screws. It’s made of a hard plastic non porous surface and was very easy to clean. It bolted together tightly and did not move or shift during use. This was perfect for his after surgery recovery and a great price compared to the horrible things carried in stores. I did pay full price for this item and would gladly do so again! Was just what we needed! Thank you NOVA Medical for making such a great and helpful product! This toilet seat riser was a huge life saver!

2 simple fixes to (hopefully) eliminate 2 of the negative features noted in comments on this and other toilet elevator product.

I purchased this product for an upcoming hip surgery. I checked the fit and it is an almost perfect match for my Kohler elongated toilet and the inside dimension of the elevator was just a bit smaller than the inside dimensions of the bowl. If this had not been the case I could not have successfully formed the drip described later. I noticed some of the comments on how the bolts can loosen with use and how "stuff" can seep into the small space between the toilet bowl top and the bottom of the elevator. I am an engineer so I took on the challenge. I obtained some white silicone sealant and laid a small bead of sealant forming a "drip" around the elevator along the inside lower edge of the seat (extending and mimicking the small drip that is molded into the bottom of the elevator near the front). I then went to a local hardware store and obtained some Locking nuts for the bolts included with the elevator (these nuts are the kind with the nylon ring made into the top of the nut). The thread on my bolts is metric 10mm diameter with a 1.5mm pitch. These locking nuts were found locally at Tractor Supply Co. for about a dollar. Any good hardware store can match a proper locking nut to your bolt if you show it to them. It now works great. if liquid splashes on the inside of the elevator it will flow downward and drip off the "drip lip" into the bowl rather than seep into the space between the elevator and the top of the toilet bowl. I ran a few tests with a bottle of water and it performed perfectly. I could have sealed the elevator to the toilet bowl top with the sealant, but this would have made periodic cleaning more difficult, and required removal and reapplication of sealant after every cleaning. Also, if sealed to the bowl, any motion getting on and off the seat could break the seal and the seepage would return. My hip surgery is scheduled for the end of the month so I will update my review when I have more "battlefield experience". PS This solution will not prevent liquid from getting between the surfaces if the water rises to the top of the bowl.

I ordered this for my friend on the advice of the occupational therapist that came to my friends (83) house after 6 weeks in a nursing home. She has a history of back surgery, total knees and total shoulders. Previously she had a toilet seat riser that just sat into the toilet, not being bolted in. She had difficulty with wiping and the other riser would slide around. I installed this riser a few days ago and she is very pleased (and so am I) This seat actually bolts to the toilet and the toilet seat in bolted to the top. There is no possibility of this sliding off. Since she sits on the toilet seat rather than the riser it is more comfortable, and she is able to wipe herself much easier. The bolts are metal, so I don't worry about them breaking. I ordered the oval shape and it fits her oval toilet well. I have done many reviews in the past for discounted items, I paid FULL price for this riser.

NOVA Toilet Seat Elevator ~ Elongated

My mom broke her hip in July and when she came home she wanted a toilet seat elevator like she had in the rehabilitation center. The problem was to find one to fit her elongated seat and one that would work with the problem on her toilet. The two holes where the seat is attached are not parallel to the back of the toilet they are off by about a quarter of an inch so the seat sat on it at an angle. This elevator was perfect to solve that problem because instead of holes in the back it had a slot so I could install it straight by putting them at different places so it is straight on the toilet. The height was perfect too for mom. It was easy to install and now she has what she needs to be safe.

it's great for people with bad knee joints

I bought it because i needed a knee replacement and didn't have anything to lean on from getting up from using the toilet, I bought one for our downstairs toilet and installed it in minutes what a relief it was to stand up after using the toilet. after my wife used it she told me she really liked it and would i put on in our upstairs bathroom so i ordered another one and installed that one now were both happier.

Works perfect for a 6 footer recovering from back surgery

Takes 3 hands to install and I only have 2 but I eventually got it done. Works perfect, looks great, However, the 3,5 inch height is a bit much for my less than 5 foot wife who know climbs uo on a short ladder, I wish they made a 2.5 inch model. This replaced one of those units that clamped down with side handles that was unstable and offered no way to close the lid. With this unit you can close the lid like you always do (at least we do).

Who knew that a broken ankle, recovering from surgery meant 6 weeks on a knee scooter, barely able to get around the house? Zero weight allowed on broken foot so using the restroom had possibilities of re-injuring my ankle, and after reading all the reviews I decided let's go for it, bought this seat riser. (At 53 yrs old, embarrassed but hey, gotta do it) I'm SO GLAD because it's saving me strong leg and my injures ankle. This and the blue cushion leg raiser has made this terrible situation bearable. My husband installed it, he's a handy guy, but seemed it was a bit of a challenge to install but got it done in 15 mins. We have TOTO toilet so it's nice that you still sit on your own toilet seat. The shape is slightly different than ours but works perfect! Very happy with this purchase.

Good product

This was for my 88 year old mother and it works exactly as intended. It is easy to clean as the non smooth surface is easy to clean and it raises her up enough that she can get off the toilet much easier. Money well spent!

Great product! Put 2 on in our house and ...

Great product! Put 2 on in our house and it elevates the seats to a MUCH more comfortable height. Ordered this one for my sister-in-law who is having medical issues and she loves it also. I don't know why they make toilet seats so LOW - they should be manufactured at this height to begin with then we would not have to buy another product to raise them to a comfortable height.
