Originally had this in Scotland many years ago. It only is available during the Christmas holidays so I have been waiting a long time for this decadent and delicious treat. It is truly THE BEST! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

I keep telling myself I will make a Christmas cake, this is a great replacement. Very moist.

Purchased via Amazon to add to my dessert spread this Christmas. To say that for the most part, Americans despise fruitcake - is an understatement. We actually have fruitcake throwing contests in some areas to physically demonstrate our hatred of the stuff. Alas, like so many other things, its the cheap low quality nature of the fruitcake created in the US that is the etiology of this disdain. I am blessed to be married to a French Canadian who grew up eating cakes of much higher quality. Due to his encouragement I decided to wade into the waters of European products and I'm SO glad I did! This cake is rather small, but is very dense and rich. Out of the wrapping it fits on a medium sized plate and slices cleanly without fall apart. I sliced into about 10 peices then laying it on its side I drizzled about 1.5 ounces of brandy over the cake. It soaked in nicely without getting at all soggy. Even my 8 year old nephew liked it! My family literally groaned aloud when I told them this was a fruitcake but everyone who tried it loved it, including myself. The taste is rich, heavy on the raisins and cloves but not overly so. There is none of that awful candied fruit taste that is common is the US.You have to try this stuff!

There is nothing to dislike about this cake. I am an ex-pat and order this cake every Christmas. My family does not like it. So I get to eat the whole cake! Good job it’s only once a year.

I have always liked fruitcake. For the past few years i have been buying fruitcakes as presents for myself on my Birthday and at Christmas. I like trying ‘new to me’ brands and varietys. I was pleased to find theur are so many varieties. This item was a big hit, which I’ll repeat as a purchase next year. The shortbread texture was unique and took me a bit to get into. I’m hooked now. The recipe is top notch. Being soaked in high quality whiskey took it way over the top. If you like new tastes, unique quality ingredients & flavorings, and prefer a dark fruitcake, then you’ll like this one.

As a kid in America I remember fruitcakes tasting like this. Somehow they got pasty and plastic over the years. Walker's fruitcake will take you back to the good old days! And btw, any sane person could only eat a small sliver of this rich cake. A 17 oz cake could feed more than 8. Merry Christmas!

Splendid dark fruit cake with traditional rich iced marzipan. Not too sweet and very satisfying and healthy. It is very inexpensive when one compared with the cost of making one's own, four times as much for the ingredients alone This is a family tradition for afternoon tea, birthdays and any festive occasion. Thank you, Walkers of Abelour, Scotland, for keeping this available.

...once you have a taste for this iced fruit cake it's hard to stop eating it. The icing is not thick, perhaps a 3/32 of an inch, though the marzipan is at least 1/2 inch. It was one of the seasons highlights when my mother made christmas cake, though the other way around, thick icing and much thinner marzipan...but even so this cake is delicious, and the marzipan/icing combination is such a strong flavor maybe it doesn't matter what the ratio is.... As children though, (in England) we loved to pry off the icing which, after sitting for at least a month in our outdoor refrigerator, a covered hole about 18 inches deep in the back garden, had by christmas become rock hard, just as we liked it. And with hindsight, here perhaps was one of the ways in which we were taught self restraint as a month or more is a long time for a child to practice it. Those were the days.

Addictively, scrumptiously, decadently delicious for those who love moist fruitcake without nuts and with good single malt Scotch!! We ordered more than one and they didn't last long! Fast delivery.

One of the best fruit cakes you can get, if you like this type of fruit cake. I have enjoyed similar cakes for weddings, Christmas, and special birthdays, sometimes alcohol soaked for moisture and as a preservative, and this cake ranks among the best of these. One slice is never enough, and the sweetness of the marzipan topping reminds one of why sugar done right is hard to replace, taste-wise. This product can be seasonal by Walker, and the price fluctuates wildly depending on the time of year and vendor, so buyer beware of cost. However, if you can get a deal, and don't mind committing extra time to the gym, then enjoy!
