Verified Consistant Results Using a Carbon Steel 100g OIML Class M1: 5 mg Calibration Weight
I bought this scale a while back because I had a more expensive $45 glass scale from Target that seemed like it was not really consistent with weight results; to the point I purchased a Carbon Steel 100g OIML Class M1: 5 mg Calibration Weight. After testing my glass scale with the certified calibration weight, I quickly learned that the glass scale was definitely not consistent in providing weigh results. After receiving the Ozeri scale, I tested with my calibration weigh and the scale provided consistent results; $45 scale is out, and the $14 scale is in.

Excellent Scale
Excellent value, spot-on accurate (tested using 100gm calibration weight along with day-to-day items like 1/2 cup butter weighs exactly 4oz). We use this all the time in the kitchen. Measures very light things in the gram or oz. range, up to several pounds of potatoes. Every baker knows you should use a scale like this to measure. No-brainer to measure "1 cup" of flour (120g), no leveling, no sifting, just weigh out 120g/cup, and you get great results every time. How do you measure tablespoons of bulk farm fresh butter? Use this thing, 0.5oz./tablespoon. Tare works flawlessly. Grams or oz, your call A great all-around kitchen workhorse.

Ecomnomical, effective, great for weighing backpacking gear!
Unlike some of my fellow reviewers, I didn’t get this to weigh illicit substances! I literally just heard you say “Whahahahhaaht?!?!?!?!” lol. I’m sure NO ONE is doing that, and although I can’t speak to its efficacy on that front, or to the percentage of you that purchased this for culinary/ legal chemistry purposes, it works just fine for my purposes. I got this scale for tallying my weight for backpacking and primitive camping because it can handle 11lbs max, though I never weighed anything above 7lbs. You can adjust the units of measurement, which is nice if you want to use metric (I weigh in both metric and English) or have lbs/oz next to each other (the most common function I use). It’s amazing how small items can add up quick to a lot of unnecessary weight. I’d recommend it if you want to have a more accurate idea of how much equipment you’re hiking with and how to balance your pack. It’s not going to break the bank by any means. You can generally use a small plastic crate or container, zero the scale, then pop your items in. I even weighed our packs. Sometimes items feel deceptively similar in weight or are bulky/their weight is distributed over a greater area. You don’t want a top-heavy pack, unless you’re into base jumping off a cliff face without a chute or tripping/falling over like an inebriated turtle. Additionally, it’ll give you a good idea if you have any wiggle room for luxury equipment (like that Syrian olive oil and laurel soap…skin is SO soft….:) or your trusty Springfield XDM for bears (and bigfoot, he doesn’t like the laurel soap, only Jack Links Jerky TM). Just pop it on an even surface and boogie-woogie. It’s pretty self-explanatory, and has two buttons so it isn’t complex to figure out. Hope this helps! Enjoy!

Great value!
I wanted a food scale to help me better understand my portion sizes (what does 3oz of fish actually look like??) I looked at more expensive scales but settled on this. I am very happy with this scale! It is simple, but effective. I just put a plate on the scale, press the "tare" button to set the scale to zero and then put on the food that I want to weigh. It also has a button that can change between units of measurement. That's all there is, but that's all I need! It tucks away in a kitchen drawer when not in use, but is attractive enough to sit out on the counter if you wanted to do that. I recommend trying this one before you buy something more expensive. The only potential con is that it runs on a battery. I have no idea how long the battery will last.

I bought this because it was the less expensive but still very highly rated pick from America's Test Kitchen online reviews (youtube). It is super easy to use unlike some they tested which had confusing menu buttons and too many features. It is very accurate scale, lightweight and easy to clean. The surface accommodates my largest mixing bowl. I like being able to leave the bowl on the scale and press "tare" between ingredients to keep adding while it's on the scale. Makes measuring so much easier. At the price listed, it's the best on the market.

Bought wondering if I would even use it. Now I highly recommend it.
After binge-watching every season of the Great British Baking Show, I decided to spring for a kitchen scale not just for baking ingredients but for general cooking use as well. It's been even handier than I expected. This particular scale is light but tough, small but hardworking, easy to operate and to switch from imperial to metric measurements (when I'm using a British or Australian recipe), and to tare. It's saved me washing countless measuring cups because I tare a bowl or cup I'm using anyway, then measure the ingredient in it. I use it to control portion sizes as well. For such an inexpensive tool, it's really become indispensable in our kitchen.

Love this scale. Works great. I like that I can put a plate on it, zero it out and start measuring various foods so that I don't have to clean it over and over

Started off unsure of it, ended up loving it.
I've been using this scale to make soap, and the recipe I use requires me to measure precisely down to the hundredth of an ounce. I was getting frustrated with this scale when it would jump from say, 4.29 oz, straight to 4.32 oz, no matter how little of the ingredient I added at a time. It would not measure anything less than a 0.03 oz increase. Then, I went back and read the description of this product and other similar products and I realized that most scales in this price range state that they measure in graduations of 0.05 oz. So, in actuality, the scale that I received measures more accurately than the product description says it should. I ended up feeling very pleased with this scale. I'm very glad that I bought it. It bothered me that I can't hit measurements right down to the exact hundredth of an ounce, but for the price of this scale, I've decided I don't care. It doesn't throw off the recipe at all.

Small food scale that can work within two decimal points...
I bake bread at least once every two weeks, sometimes a little more frequently based on consumption, and always got at least a little bit frustrated with the difference in the size of the loaves and boules. We have limited space in our kitchen, due to the size of it as a whole, so we put off buying a kitchen scale. After baking bread the last time around I decided that it was time to look to see if a scale could be found that would be small enough for storage, while still offering functionality to measure the weights as precise as possible. I looked at a few of the different scales available on Amazon and was definitely not interested in getting one that relies on a watch battery and also wanted one that didn't round the numbers up. This Ozeri Pronto has a small profile, uses two AAA batteries (which were included with the scale) and is precise within +/- 0.1%, based on the testing that another review for this product was able to determine. This Ozeri Pronto food scale was used for making both English muffin and Black Canyon sourdough breads. The English muffin bread was broken in to two loaves and the Black Canyon bread was broken into six parts. This time around I made three loaves, using our new Freshware CB-104RD 6-Cavity Mini Silicone Mold for Soap, Bread, Loaf, Muffin, Brownie, Cornbread, Cheesecake, Pudding, and More and broke the other three into another six parts in total to bake with ham and cheese stuffed inside. I noticed two aspects about this Ozeri food scale, which I don't see as an actual issue, but thought I'd mention. The first is that when I was changing the bread and the tare weight was zero it turned off in less than two minutes, as it felt like it took me about 30 seconds, but could've been a minute, between removing the one dough and had to stop before the other was almost placed on the scale. Basically, you'll want to make sure that any and/or all of the items that you plan on weighing are very much at the ready, otherwise you might need to turn it back on and set the tare up again. The other thing to note is that the ounces appear to change in increments of 0.03, which can make it almost impossible to get a truly precise measurement, but is still pretty close. For the first time since baking homemade bread, all of the various loaves had basically the same pre-baked weight and came out looking approximately the same size too. This Ozeri Pronto food scale works well and I look forward to using it for years to come. If you're in the market for a food scale to use while baking, then this is a good scale to purchase. I did not purchase this for food but...
I used this product to weigh hair color... It works well and happy with this affordable price!!
