Was what I was looking for for my patio umbrella
I bought the base pre-filled after reading how people had a little difficulty putting sand in the base. It is compact enough to be placed under the table without crowding the guest. I have a 10x6.5 umbrella and two table supports. The umbrella doesn't move after I secure it with the thumb screw. Good value and prime shipping helps with the 50lb weight.

We are really pleased with this Umbrella
We have had the problem with strong wind gusts toppling over our 9' diameter outside umbrella. We have had several "heavy" stands, but this one seems to be working perfectly. We are really pleased with this Umbrella Stand

Works well
Does the job. Appears to be solidly made. Easy to fill and stopper. Has a bolt to help hold the umbrella in place. I love the concept of a water filled umbrella base, it will be easy to empty and store in the winter. When it's empty, it's quite lightweight and even has a little carrying handle. With free shipping on Amazon Prime, you can't go wrong!

Sturdy and practical, looks good, too
I love this fillable umbrella base. It's sturdy plastic and light as can be when it's empty. Fill it up with sand to keep your umbrella standing upright....and it does its job, and quite handsomely so with its bronze color. It's exactly what I was looking for and we use it every time we put up our patio umbrella.

Works Just As Described!
We needed a heavyweight umbrella base and it had to be white in color. After researching several different websites and varieties, we purchased the "US Weight 50 Pound Umbrella Base in White" from Amazon because of the free shipping through Prime. Another website (patio decor ratings) that offered reviews on umbrellas and bases rated this particular product as by far the best especially over the self fill version (they said absolutely do NOT fill with water) as the self fill option only came in around 35 pounds instead of the 50 pounds we needed for a large umbrella. I figured my UPS man would not be happy but he said they handle up to 150 pounds and this would be no big deal! Upon arrival, we took another reviewer's idea and drilled a hole into the aluminium umbrella pole where the base screw goes in so as to tie the two together when tightening down the screw to the pole. Worked like a charm. Our 11 foot (ultimately changed to a smaller 9 foot size) umbrella, which runs up through our table, has no swaying, and has survived several breezy days with no issues. A few little things...the built in handle is really helpful to lug it around, the design is such that water cannot collect in the umbrella pole opening, and it cleans easily with just mild detergent and water. My only "complaint" would be that the screw is hard to hold on to and we used pliers to turn the thumb screw. We added a patio table cone wedge (purchased from Amazon) as the tabletop hole is 2 inches and there was a little play in the pole as it came up through the 48" round table. The cone wedge worked great. I must say the ratings review from another website sold us on this particular unit and they are correct. Well worth the money with the filled version base option! Just as an FYI...I waited a month after purchase to review this umbrella base as I wanted to make sure it performed as described! 04/23/19: Just ran across my review and thought I would post an update. Our umbrella base has been continuously on the deck since last June. Been through a hot, rainy summer, a bitterly cold winter and is still working great. In fact it looks better, and has held up better, than our expensive deck furniture.

Keeps my umbrella anchored in the highest winds
Solved my problem beautifully. I have a free-standing patio umbrella; i.e., it isn't threaded through a table. It had a weighted base, but even medium winds would blow the umbrella over - even when the umbrella was down and tightly wrapped up. It was very frustrating. I started nosing around Amazon to see if I could find any kind of weight for my stand, and it turns out there were a number of options. This one came fully filled with sand, which I wasn't expecting, so I'm glad I had it delivered. My umbrella was easily installed, and I am happy to report that it has not blown over once in the few months that I've had this stand. And yes, we've had a number of storms with high winds during that time. Very happy with this purchase!

Heavy, but so worth the purchase!
Our old umbrella stands had stripped out and wouldn't hold our umbrellas any more. I found these and was so excited because the price was great! They are filled with sand and very heavy, but they have great handles to move them with. Our others did not and they were very hard to pick up. I was worried that my umbrellas might not fit in the hole, but they do and it is great because you just use the screw to make them tight. Made of very nice hard plastic that should last a very long time. You can also empty out the sad if you wish. Living in Texas you have got to have umbrellas to be outside for any length of time. So glad I found these!!

Works fine when just filled with water
We purchased this base for a summer beach rental at a house with a deck and table but no umbrella. We took this base (weighs very little when empty) and our umbrella from home. Filled it with water when we arrived, emptied it when we were ready to leave. Plenty heavy to hold the umbrella down but we were careful to lower the umbrella when we were not on the deck. Would not work without a table with umbrella hole as the base is not sufficiently heavy nor does it have a neck, but with a table it was great. If I were going to use it long term I would add sand/cement/rocks because the water will evaporate eventually.

Surprisingly EXCELLENT Umbrella Base ~~!!
After reading reviews here on Amazon, I wondered about buying this base. However, having had the ultra luxurious Subrella base and market umbrella, I had found them rather heavy to manage over time and sold them off to new owners. Decided on the Campari umbrella here, and teamed it with this base. Heartily recommend against filling with water; especially in cold winter climates if it will be staying outdoors. Sand is OK, but as one reviewer mentioned, is tricky for one person to install. I checked out birdseeds at first, but then noticed the kitty litter just down the aisle, and realized that a good clay based kitty litter would the ideal weight and content. It was easy to install after creating a small half funnel out of cardboard (a piece of the shipping box, actually) and this is an ideal base for the Campari umbrella, which is standing through a hole in a small balcony table. Great balance, and this base is not so heavy to relocated, as desired. The quality of construction and weight of the plastic are excellent~~!! A good buy at a very reasonable price.

Perfect for the Job of Holding Your Umbrella on the Ground
We have a heavy duty umbrella with a wooden pole and an 11' span, so I wanted a base that is substantial and would hold it on the ground, rather than find my umbrella blowing around like Mary Poppins was attached. This base does the trick -- exactly as represented.
