In Minnesota when it's -30F and your sidewalk is icy, this is the only thing that will melt it. Cheaper sodium and magnesium products do not compare. Don't waste your time, just buy this.

It works great! I tried putting it out on the sidewalk and driveway before the heavy snow that was forecast. It melted the first couple of inches as it fell. Then the snow didn't melt but there seemed to be a layer underneath that prevented it from "sticking" to the pavement so it was easier to remove. If the product gets wet and dissolves, you can put it out as a liquid and it is still effective. I'm wondering how early in the season I should order more, next year, because I will definitely order it again.

Great stuff. I used this 2 weeks ago to help melt a few inches of ice that built up and it worked great. Used it again 2 days ago for my friends and families driveways and walkways and it melted everything, and dried up the area. It works in very cold temps and has not caused any damage to bluestones, concrete or driveways.

I will have to get back to you on this one. We have not had snow yet. However, I do expect them to do fine because, I purchased calcium pellets last year and they did great. No mess like salt and these don't hurt my dogs feet like salt will. These arrived very fast and I love the fact they are in a nice container to store them in unlike the plastic bag we had last year. It ripped and pellets went everywhere.

We ordered this knowing we had snow on the way. When we saw it was due to be delivered within days on Tuesday, we were very pleased. But the snow moved in. Tuesday and Wednesday was understandable--it could not be delivered. By Thursday we had shoveled our long steep drive to allow delivery--and the road was plowed. We daily received notes telling us it would be delivered--However--we did not receive the delivery until the following Tuesday a week after we were told we would receive it! The snow is gone--we may or may not need it again this year! But we know it works when we finally got it!

I have purchasing this item for several years now. It has powerful melting capabilities. Furthermore, it is gentle to concrete and stone surfaces. We have not noticed any damage. Can be used sparingly when a bit of sun is expected. The pellets "burn" down to the surface and allows the heat from the sun to spread the melting activity, If you expect re-freezing overnight, then either wait until morning or use a bit more heavily the night before. Calcium chloride will maintain the melted state well below the normal freezing point of water. We live on the shady side of the street, so this item has helped us maintain a safe, ice-free driveway and walkway for years. Very pricey, but not falling on the ice - priceless. I've seem some reviews that claim that the same material can be purchased locally for 20% or some ridiculous fraction of the Amazon price. If that were the case, I would be buying locally. I think some people don't realize the different chemical compositions of various snow melting products. The cheaper stuff is more damaging to stone work, and does not prevent re-freezing.

we had our first snowfall today. the pellets worked fast saving time. no need to use allot of pellets because the pellets melt a good size area on a 16 ounce plastic cup full. i use it from the front porch to the mail box. should last a long time on a 50 pound container..... worth every penny !

I just love this stuff. It's always effective, even when it's been sitting in the garage for over a year.

I live in the mountains above Denver with a blacktop circular driveway and flagstone walkways. This product has always worked very quickly when I know guests are arriving and I don't want anyone to fall. It also doesn't leave noticeable residue if you use it in the correct quanitites. It's also safe on the grass and shrubs. Pricey, but I don't have to wonder whether it will work or will eat my driveway and flagstone.

My wife runs a dance studio with quite a lot of traffic. Concrete walkways and entry stairs needs be cleared daily of snow and ice for foot traffic from toddlers through octogenarians without ruining her dance floors, which it does. She is happier with this product than with all previous ones, and for both these reasons why we've been happy and stayed with this product.
