Gave this to my 14 month old as an early Christmas present and it's already her favorite. I gave it to her early because she saw it when it came in and got super excited over it. She hasn't stopped playing with it for the last two days and she gets upset when it's time to put it away! She likes to play with setting the pieces up on the blanket and she even pretends to drink from the cups and eat the food. It's adorable to watch her playing with it! The item itself is also very well-made. Nice sturdy plastic that should hold up to her wear and tear for the next few years.

I bought this for a work-related Christmas party (family and kids invited). The item is for a 1-1/2 yr old girl. When it arrived, I had to test it out. It's wonderful! A great learning toy. Music, counting, shapes, in, out, etc. Not annoying like some toys can be. I liked it so much, I immediately ordered another one for my niece's 2 yr old daughter! It's super cute!

This is long, but you will know everything that you need to know: PURPOSE OF PURCHASE: My daughter had just turned 11 months old. I was looking for a fill-and-spill toy that she would not outgrow as quickly as many other baby toys and I was hoping for something that she would use for creative play for the next couple of years. We were skeptical at first because we felt that, although the price is reasonable, we still did not want to throw away $20 and she might not care for it or it may be a little mature for her. I am so glad that we bought it. It was the last of the gifts that we bought for her first Christmas, and I just know it was meant for her to have. DESCRIPTION: Everything is made of hard plastic, except for the checked "blanket" which is like a handkerchief. The basket is packed pretty full with everything inside, but she can easily fit it all back in without help. She loves carrying all of the pieces around in her little hands. (There are many pieces and you don't want them lost!) The full basket is a little heavy for a baby. She did not carry the entire basket around until recently (14 months) and still prefers not to, but she has always taken it off of her toyshelf and sat with it closeby in the floor. I can watch this thing growing with her. She likes to put the food pieces and forks in her mouth. And she LOVES the sounds it makes when the lid opens and closes. She loves the songs that it sings, and let me tell you, the voice is too cute and sweet. She dances while she plays and tries to sing. POSITIVE: I love it because it is easy to wipe clean (even though I haven't had to clean it yet), it is durable, it is fun, adorable, AND VERY educational!! I had not realized before she started playing with it, but it teaches manners (saying please & thank you) and some prepositions, such as: put one cup IN the other cup, spread the blanket ON the ground UNDER the tree...a picnic WITH my friend. It sings the colors of the rainbow. It counts up to four often. It sings short songs about how many sides each shape has, and each of the three foods on each plate is a different shape (triangle pie slice, square cracker, circle orange slice). It asks you to find each shape. The plates are similar to wooden puzzles (only plastic), and she is learning to put the foods in place. She also LOVES music, and this thing is constantly singing. It even reminds you to push the butterfly button to hear a song. She can play with this toy 100% by herself, and I know that she will not outgrow it any time soon because it is also my favorite of her toys. And when her cousins (4yrs & 11yrs) came to visit, this is the toy that they played with for 2 hours straight! She plays with it more than any other toy (and she has too many toys). We have never had to replace the batteries since she first got it. NEGATIVE: The cups are not intended to hold liquids. They each have two holes in the bottom that you could almost stick a pencil through. I like that she will have to use her imagination and also I will not have to worry about the inside of the picnic basket getting sticky with juice and I am glad that ants will not be stored in there. (But some people would rather have usable cups, and if your child tried to use them, it would be messy, so I thought I would mention this.) The only real negative that I can find is that the talking basket may ask you to find the triangle, but it has no way to know whether you found it, so it does not correct you or praise you. It never responds or gives hints or anything. So basically, it just randomly asks your child to find things, but she may never know if her answer was correct (or wrong!). Therefore, I recommend that Mommy plays with her. BOTTOM LINE: I say it is well worth every cent (and more)!

We bought this as a gift for my niece when she turned one and when my 1 year old daughter was over at their house i noticed her playing with it so I added it to her birthday list. She loves it!! She always pulls this toy out of her toy box first and will play with it by herself which is great. Pros: you can turn the sound off! (What parent doesn't appreciate that?) There are two different modes- 1 with music and one where it talks about shapes and colors. I think it can really grow with her, right now she just likes to jam to the music. The little plates and food have specific shapes and holes so she can learn how to make it fit like a puzzle (but the fact that she's not great at it now doesn't make it unusable). It makes a noise when opening and closing (for some reason our kiddo loves any toy that does that). It's a decent size that all of the items actually fit in it well so you aren't constantly fighting them when putting it away. It has a handle and is light enough that she can carry it around. Con- only con is that there are many little parts so they can get lost in our toy bin- but that's not the toy's fault. My sister in law said my niece at 2 1/2 years old still plays with hers so it seems like a good investment to me. I hate spending money on toys they outgrow quickly.

Of all of the toys I have purchased for my daughter, she has consistently played with this LeapFrog Shapes and Sharing Picnic Basket. I purchased this toy after her 1st birthday. We are now coming up to her 2nd birthday in a few weeks and she has started to sing (well, her attempt at singing LOL), the songs played by the basket. Her 4 year old cousin also loves to play with the basket. The plastic pieces (food pieces, forks, cups) are quite large and easily handled by her small hands. The songs are simple, sweet and catchy. As stated, it does teach the concepts of color, shapes, sharing and so much more through music and smiles. I liked this so much, I also purchased this for a friend's child too.

This is a great toy. It has a good amount of catchy songs and phrases, it has a volume control switch as well. Perfect for pretend play, my daughters will make a pallet and pretend they're having a picnic and a tea party with their tea and picnic sets, it's really cute! I'm tempted to purchase another set because the handle broke on ours a few months ago. A very sturdy well made toy, we've had ours for 5 years and is perfect other than the handle. We haven't even had to change the batteries. Highly recommend.

My baby loves this picnic basket. She loves taking everything out of it and putting it back in. She loves opening and closing it. She loves banging the picnic items together. The toys inside the basket are fine, if not unremarkable. They will eventually help her with shapes and colors. The basket itself is not fundamentally flawed; however, the way the basket talks and sings eats at the edges of my soul. That being said, this review is not about how much I like the basket, but how much my baby does, and as mentioned in the first paragraph, she loves it. She does not appear even remotely annoyed by its incessant high-pitched pleas to "press the butterfly button to hear a song." Additionally, I think this basket is a toy that she can grow with - eventually, she will be able to use the picnic pieces as fake food for pretend play. Buy this basket if your baby likes banging things together, and filling and spilling toys. Or buy this basket as a baby shower gift for someone you do not like.

So fun! I bought it for my babies first birthday but my 3, almost 4 year old, won't stop playing with it long enough for her sister to touch it. The the pieces are adorable and I love the teaching elements. The forks are comically huge and the cups do have a hole in the bottom so they aren't functional to hold fluids, a plus with my children. My 5 year old even really likes playing with it. I would highly recommend this fun picnic set!

Much nicer than the Fisher Price one. I couldn't be more pleased. Adding a picture of my granddaughter enjoying it at only 5 months old. You can't see the basket in this Christmas morning photo, but you can see some of the pieces and how she is enjoying it with her brother looking on.

My daughter is 18 months and loves this. She doesn't fully get the picnic idea, but her big brother likes having play picnics with her. The colors are bright and fun and the food is in various shapes that fit on the plates. A big factor for me in a kids toy is how annoying the noises and songs are.... this is not too bad at all! I would recommend this for little kids - they can learn shapes and colors, or just pretend to have a picnic. Great toy!
